Visual C++ :: Tabbed Dialog - Getting Text From Edit Control
Apr 26, 2014
I have a tabbed dialog with a couple of Separate dialogs. I created classes of CDialog for each dialog. Im trying to get the text from the edit control from the tabbed dialog and it appears in a message box when I press a button on the main dialog.
Code:
myDialog test;
test.UpdateData(TRUE);
CString bla = test.m_edit1;
test.UpdateData(FALSE);
MessageBox(bla,bla,MB_OK);
The m_edit is a variable of CString for the edit box
it gives me a error and crashes.
How do I get the text from the other dialogs edit control?
I have a dialog box with several edit control boxes and I want to identify the edit control when I click the left mouse button on it. Any button action (up or down) doesn;t register when the mouse is clicked on any of the edit controls. There has got to be a simple way to do this.
I am working on a MFC application that I used for Image Analysis. I have a FrameWnd called MillChart that I use to generate an Image. This window is displayed at the run time in the application and not a part of the GUI dialog. It automatically resizes according to the different monitor resolutions and because of this there is a lot of empty space to the right of the MillChart. I was planning to add a picture control in the GUI dialog and redirect whatever is displayed in the MillChart to the Picture Control so that I can place my other elements (checkboxes, scrollbars etc) that I use in my app close to this MillChart and also set the size of the MillChart to a constant size.
Here is the code for positioning the elements (Note: I have only shown the MillChart position)
I have been told to show some text document when our application starts up, it is an EULA. They gave me a word file and I saved this file in a .rtf format. I then wish to show this in a dialog box and found this on code guru: [URL]
Which seems to be a sub-class that will do all the formatting for me. So I use that class and then load in the .rtf file, using their setRTF method I just get an empty text box.
I just want to be able to show this formatted, somewhat pretty text from this document in my application as close as I can to the original document. Is there an easy way to do that? I could turn it into plain text, but I think that my boss would not be happy about that.
The problem was that I needed the text box to be marked multi-line.
But the output rows are not aligned as shown in the attached picture. There a two problems.
1. Data rows don't align with the header row. 2. When the first element of a row changes to two digits, the other elements are shifted.
According to MSDN [URL] ...., CString::Format() works the same way as printf(). I wrote a small program using printf() to do the same thing, and the output in the console are perfectly aligned.
Is it possible to specify the size/position of tabs in an MFC MDI tabbed application?
I am trying to save the open tabs when exiting the program and restoring them when the application is relaunched. I have come up with a method of saving and reloading the tabs, but I cannot restore their position.
I have seen SaveMDIState and LoadMDIState but I can't make it do anything and I'm also not sure if it's what I need.
Essentially I have an MDI that I want to be able to switch between having all my views tabbed when one is maximized and having all my views cascaded or tiled to their previous sizes. The MFC app wizard provides options for either tabbed or untabbed views.
How to implement this? What is the class that MFC uses to place each of the MDI child frames in tabs?
I'm using CStatic inherited class in my code and creating static text boxes dynamically. Now for assigning unique control ID I'm creating a static control from resource editor and destroying it before calling CStatic::Create() and using its control ID say ID_STATIC_SAMPLE.
If I do not use this parameter of Create(), the static control is also being created, so what is the use of this unique ID. And any other better way to assign a ID for dynamically created static controls.
how to change a certain part of a text file? I want to +1 to a text file every time the user does a particular input. For example my text file has name << password << count . When the user logs in and choose option 1 the program will +1 to the count.
I have this project for school where I basically need to write a program that will take any text file and convert it into html code.
string line; int lineCount = 0; while (!inFile.eof()) { getline(inFile, line); cout << line << endl; lineCount++; } cout << lineCount - 1 << " lines of text read in this file." << endl;
I have this block of code to print each line of the text file into the terminal window and count the number of lines printed. But I don't know how to make it change a single character or set of characters to something else. For example, if a line of text begins with the number "1", I want to be able to change it to "<h1>".
I have a report that's generated by a piece of software, and (I'm assuming because it was intended for Linux/Unix) when I open to read it in notepad, it has a bunch of funky symbols in it, and incorrect line feed characters instead of returns that windows uses.
I looked at the txt file with a hex editor and can see all the hex codes for the symbols I want deleted. One of the symbols 0A.
How can I do a "find and replace" command but do it with hex codes? These symbols cant be simply placed into my code file because VS does not know how to interpret it.
This is a small program that reads a line from the screen, takes the ASCII values from the entered text, and edits it. Next, the ASCII values are reinterpreted (am i misspelling?) as text, and displayed. However, my final output has (allways?) at least 7 characters, even if you enter only one. I'm also trying to accomplish, that the part of the string which isn't filled, will be printed empty. In spaces.
compiled with -std=c99.
Code: #include <stdio.h> int main(){ int maxsize; printf("How long is your message?
If I include the last line of code here I get a stack overflow error. If I don't include it, I can run through the debugger and the buffer CString is converted to hex just like I want, I just can't display it because I get that error.
Is it possible to edit the message map at startup instead of just having it set at compile time?
I'm reading some values from an XML file at startup. The menu options will be determined from what I find in there. But I need to assign those menu options to the message map.
I am trying to make a messageBoxButtons dialog with the 'yes, no' buttons. Im having trouble because of the multiple lines and parameters already in the message, this means that when i declare the messageBoxButtons.YesNo and the title - it throws an error because of the multiple lines etc...
How can I get the yes/no message box to work in this instance?
class Output { string text; { DialogResult dialogResult = MessageBox.Show("Please make sure the following information is correct before submitting." + " Date: " + Date + " Hours worked: " + Hours + " Hourly rate: $" + Rate
I'm trying to get a Browse Directory dialog to update a text box with the path selected. I had it working fine in Unicode build but now using TCHAR - I see the variable contains the correct path, but the textbox only gets updated with a single weird character.
Found an online suggestion of using an rc2 file and cut and paste stuff from .rc file to .rc2 file to see which line causes the problem but don't know how to create a blank .rc2 file. Problem started after I ported from VC++ 6 to VS2010.
I need to edit ,update and display a group of 40 parameters on screen. (10 parameters per page and use of Arrow Key pad or touch screen clicks to modify value)....
For that I will need .. Parameter No . , String Name , Point Screen Cord , double value , next element no. etc I have my old code with structure and array of structure written in C. I have translated it on C++/MFC .
I've created a modeless dialog from my main dialog as follows:
Code: m_pContainerDlg = new CDlgContainer(NULL, this); m_pContainerDlg->Create(CDlgContainer::IDD, GetDesktopWindow()); m_pContainerDlg ->ShowWindow(SW_SHOW);
This container dialog creates a child dialog which I show inside the container
Code: BOOL CDlgContainer::OnInitDialog(){ // Create the child dialog and show it m_pChildDlg = new CChildDlg(this); m_pChildDlg->Create(IDD_DIRECTORY_DIALOG, this); return FALSE; }
From my child dialog I then create a modal dialog when a user clicks on a button
What I want is simple: I want to catch a dialog box!
The dialog box pops very frequently in a website. We have to put a username and password and press OK. I checked with spy++. It doesn't have any child windows. So catching the dialog box with windows API is ruled out. It must be a HTML dialog. I have to get DOM COM interfaces of the dialog.
Another option may be to make an add-on to get the interface to IWebBrowser2 and get the events fired. The title of the dialog box is "Authentication Required". If the events will be fired for that dialog box, I can check the title using IHTMLDocument2::get_Title.But will the events be fired for HTML dialog box? How to catch that desturbing dialog box.
