C# :: Using MessageBoxButtons Dialog With Multiple Lines Of Text And Parameters
Jan 31, 2014
I am trying to make a messageBoxButtons dialog with the 'yes, no' buttons. Im having trouble because of the multiple lines and parameters already in the message, this means that when i declare the messageBoxButtons.YesNo and the title - it throws an error because of the multiple lines etc...
How can I get the yes/no message box to work in this instance?
class Output {
string text; {
DialogResult dialogResult = MessageBox.Show("Please make sure the following information is correct before submitting."
+ "
Date: " + Date
+ "
Hours worked: " + Hours
+ "
Hourly rate: $" + Rate

I am writing a piece of code that requires me to display the last 1000 lines from a multiple text files (log files). FYI, I am running on Linux and using g++.
I have a log file from which - if it contains more than 1000 lines, I need to display the last 1000 lines. However, the log file could get rotated. So, in case where the current log file contains less than 1000 lines, I have to go to older log file and display the remaining. For e.g., if log got rotated and new log file contains 20 lines, I have to display the 980 lines from old log file + 20 from current log files.
What is the best way to do this? Even an outline algorithm will work.

In the following example, SET_DARKENING_PARAMETERS_0 is a fairly simple macro which accepts 9 parameters. The first one is called driver and the other 8 are all ints. Basically, the 8 x ints get assigned to the first 8 elements of an array which is owned by driver. I can call the macro successfully if I do this:-
Code: SET_DARKENING_PARAMETERS_0 ( some_driver, 500, 400, 1000, 275, 1667, 275, 2333, 0 );
But in the actual code I'm trying to compile, the 8 x ints are themselves encoded into a secondary macro like this:-
Code: #define CONFIG_OPTION_DARKENING_PARAMETERS 500, 400, 1000, 275, 1667, 275, 2333, 0
So the actual code (to call SET_DARKENING_PARAMETERS_0) looks like this:-
Code: SET_DARKENING_PARAMETERS_0 ( some_driver, CONFIG_OPTION_DARKENING_PARAMETERS );
But the two combined macros won't compile with VC8. Basically, I get warning #C4003 (not enough parameters for macro 'SET_DARKENING_PARAMETERS_0') followed by a load of syntax errors. However, the code (allegedly) compiles with gcc.
I'm wondering if macro CONFIG_OPTION_DARKENING_PARAMETERS might be getting truncated to just 500, (with the following parameters getting ignored)?

Right now, I have and application that opens a multi file dialog box. I want to take all of the files I highlight when the dialog box shows up and display a messsage box with the path and file names. This is what I have right now:
Code:
private: System::Void button1_Click_1(System::Object^ sender, System::EventArgs^ e) {
String^ folderName;
Stream^ myStream;
OpenFileDialog^ openFileDialog1 = gcnew OpenFileDialog;
openFileDialog1->Multiselect = true;
[Code] ....
Currently, it only shows the first file that I choose. I want to make it so that the message box shows all of the files that I select when the open file dialog shows up.

How would I go about inputting data from multiple lines using scanf?
So far I have tried a loop and somehow checking for '' but can't seem to figure it out..
E.g I want to be able to scanf the ints below line by line and print them( if that makes sense) .
5 15 20 30 5 6
5 6 8 20 34
5 6 7
5 2
2 6 7 2 1 6
This is what i've tried so far, but am really lost!
Code:
int input;
while(scanf("%d", &input)){
printf("%d",input);
if(input == '
'){
continue;}}

I am trying to convert multiple lines of strings to double with std::stod .... I used the code found on the website:
#include <iostream>
#include <sstream>
#include <string>
#include <fstream>
int main() {
std::string two_doubles =" 22145.365 -3564789";
std::string::size_type K;
double first = std::stod (two_doubles, &K);
double second = std::stod (two_doubles.substr(K));
}
The string starts with white spaces. I get this error message when compiling:
warning unused variable 'first'
warning unused variable 'second'
How do you convert the two numbers in the string two_doubles to doubles?

This code i made is a cent converter from 5 to 95 cents. The problem i'm receiving is when the 'cents' function is sent back to the 'main' function it only prints one line. It seems to just print the first if construct that complies with the statement. Is there anyway i can have this function print multiple cent values? For example if 60 cents was entered it would only print '50c', and i want it to print '50c' and '10c' instead.
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
int x;
void check(int x)
{
if( x < 5)
printf("Less then 5 cannot be calculated
");
else if(x > 95)
[code]....

I am writing a pure C based win32 applications. I have drawn line. Now i want to translate that line, move the line whereved user wants to move on screen. Then again I drawn another line, I am drawing multiple lines.
I have created rectangle region for each line and trying to move the line.
When I move the 2nd line over the 1st line on screen the 1st line is getting wiped out. Because I am InvalidateRect() of the rect for the line being moved, so when that rectangle is crossing the other line then the other line is getting removed from the screen.
How can I rectify it. How can I have all the lined being on the screen and moved according to the user's wish. The code should be pure C and win32 no MFC.

I have been told to show some text document when our application starts up, it is an EULA. They gave me a word file and I saved this file in a .rtf format. I then wish to show this in a dialog box and found this on code guru: [URL]
Which seems to be a sub-class that will do all the formatting for me. So I use that class and then load in the .rtf file, using their setRTF method I just get an empty text box.
I just want to be able to show this formatted, somewhat pretty text from this document in my application as close as I can to the original document. Is there an easy way to do that? I could turn it into plain text, but I think that my boss would not be happy about that.
The problem was that I needed the text box to be marked multi-line.

I have a tabbed dialog with a couple of Separate dialogs. I created classes of CDialog for each dialog. Im trying to get the text from the edit control from the tabbed dialog and it appears in a message box when I press a button on the main dialog.
Code:
myDialog test;
test.UpdateData(TRUE);
CString bla = test.m_edit1;
test.UpdateData(FALSE);
MessageBox(bla,bla,MB_OK);
The m_edit is a variable of CString for the edit box
it gives me a error and crashes.
How do I get the text from the other dialogs edit control?

Using cin.sync() works great so far, but my program still breaks if you copy something with multiple lines into the console.
string test = "";
while(true) {
cin.sync();
getline(cin, test );
cout << endl << "test: " << test << endl;
}
However, if you were to copy this:
1
2
3
and paste it into the program, the output would be1
2
3
test: 1
test: 2
And if you press enter one more time:1
2
3
test: 1
test: 2
test: 3
The 3 finally pops out.

I am trying to display some data in text format on a dialog and I am using a CString to do it. Below is how I coded it.
Code:
CString outputStr;
CString auxStr;
// Add header
outputStr.Format("");
auxStr.Format("%-7s%-20s%-7s%-20s%s
[Code] .....
But the output rows are not aligned as shown in the attached picture. There a two problems.
1. Data rows don't align with the header row.
2. When the first element of a row changes to two digits, the other elements are shifted.
According to MSDN [URL] ...., CString::Format() works the same way as printf(). I wrote a small program using printf() to do the same thing, and the output in the console are perfectly aligned.
What have I missed when doing the display in GUI?

I am trying to read lines from a .txt file like this:
// "file.txt"
This is the first line.
This is the second line.
To do this, I tried using the following code:
int main() {
std::ifstream data;
data.open("file.txt");
[Code] ....
The output I want is:
This is the first line.
This is the second line.
However, all I am getting is:
This is the first line.
I can't quite see why this isn't working. I am decently familiar with file streams in C++, so I thought I would know what I was doing, but apparently not.

So I'm working on program I had in Windows Form Application.
I have a combobox that lists the years 1981-2013. Beside it, a simple Enter button.
I wanted to be able to assign individual lines of text to each year that would be displayed in the message box.
Like if the user selects 1981, clicks Enter and the message box displayed "In the year of 1981.." but if they select 1982, the message box displayed "In the year of 1982.." I have everything else I want working, except that I can't figure out how to assign different lines of text to different years.

I have a text file with repeated lines, and i would like to get rid of the duplicate information, an algorithm to achieve this?
Example of my text file (the actual file may be huge, up to 500MB):
+Hello
+Bye
*The sun
-The moon
+Bye
/One coin
+Bye
+Bye
+Hello
*The sun
And i would expect to get something like this:
+Hello
+Bye
*The sun
-The moon
/One coin
I know how to open and read a file with fstream and getline(), but i don't know how to make the comparison.

This code works, but not fully This code reads com ports, when a string is available, I check to see if it contains some keywords defined in array If it does, i print out the string itself.
The problem i am having is that it seems to stop processing the data at some point but I do know that there are more strings to be read. So, it does keep reading more lines of data

private void open(object sender, EventArgs e) {
OpenFileDialog openDialog = new OpenFileDialog();
if (openDialog.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.OK) {
string[] lines = File.ReadAllLines(openDialog.FileName);
int k = 0;
while (k < lines.Length)
[Code] ....
So in this code, the user basically opens a text file from the dialog. Then the file gets read on all the lines and gets stored in an array. Now the reason I did this is because there are more fields of text boxes I have to fill in after I fill in the table (6x3). I'm getting an out of bounds error however.
