I have to read a particular student data from file using his Roll no and modify it and then save it to file again

I am trying to modify a user control while modifying the main form. For example i have my main form open in one visual c# window and my user controls in another. However it seems that in order for my code changes in my user control to have any effect on the main form i need to close all my c# windows and then re-open them and even then that sometimes doesn't work am i doing anything wrong or is this supposed to happen??
Also yes i am saving and clicking build solution on my user controls.

I had assign to do a project using c# window form.Now I am doing a smart part of coding which is let the data in textbox and using keypress function with a enter,the data will save in database and show on datagridview.I had searching how to do it online but all of them using mysql or sqlcommand something to do it! But my project is using the code that already done and can access without mysql or sql coding... Using this code to connect and show in datagridview...

I'm a C beginner. I have questions, let say if I have a structure of message containing of Id, Length, and 3 bytes of data, and I want to manually saved in individual bits of data, how can I do that? I confused on how to use typedef struct and union. Below is the sample code:

By the way, the DataField is declared as above. It's not necessary for a data to be 24 bits. It can be bit 0 - bit 8, it can be bit 10 - bit 15 and so on. So, for each case, I want to ignore the other bits.

so i have two classes ( main and another one ask ) in main i have defined 3 arrays (char drivers[250] ,offences[250] , owners[250]) and also included their pointers ( char *drivers_ptr,*offences_ptr,8owners_ptr)my problem is that i need to set values (actually 1 string of 250 chars to each of these arrays BUT from the class ask without making these arrays global -as this is prohibited by my university exercise !- )
so my question is how will i manage to save data to the arrays that i have defined in main using their addresses(through the pointers of each one that i have passed to the ask class) from the ask class ?

I'm trying to read from a header file to take the image dimensions and other variables but I don't understand how to iterate through the "key" so it saves each line.
This is what the header file will always look like:
!INTERFILE :=
!imaging modality := nucmed
!version of keys := 3.3

!GENERAL DATA :=

Ideally it would just skip the keys that aren't wanted and keep moving through the lines. Should there be a for loop for the key (and if so, how does that work with pointers?) or should this method just be scratched...

I am having a lot of trouble trying to save and upload a data table from a text file ,the data table which is bound to a datagrid, creates its own columns at the formloading event, and everytime a user clicks a button row is added to the data table. With the loading i put this code which i thought would read a text file and put all the content my datatable however a exception pops up saying Duplicate Name exeption. I'm working on my first own project which is to collect some info from a save game file and then parse it to a website. Skyrim uses a .ess file extension, which to my knowledge is a binary file. I know how to open a file for reading but how to extract the info I need from there. Do all games use a standardized serialization or can the format of this file be anything?
If reading the binary file turns out to be too difficult, would it be possible to hook the game and retrieve info that way? If so, where would you recommend to start learning that stuff?

I am writing a program where I need to read a byte of char data and convert it into a text string of binary data that represents the hex value...
i.e. The char byte is 0x42 so I need a string that has 01000010 in it. I've written the following subroutine....

When I submitted the byte 0x42 to the subroutine, the subroutine returned to the output variable 01000010... Life is good.
The next byte that came in was 0x91. When I submit this to the subroutine I get garbage out.
I am using a debugger and stepped through the subroutine a line at a time. When I feed it 0x42 I get what I expect for all variables at all points in the execution.
When I submit 0x91 When the line remainder = input % BASE; gets executed the remainder variable gets set to 0xFFFF (I expected 1). Also, when the next line gets executed..
input = input / BASE; I get C9 where I expected to get 48.
My question is, are there data limits on what can be used with the mod (%) operator? Or am I doing something more fundamentally incorrect?

I am trying to develop a GUI using MFC, but I am having trouble using CFiledialog to save a file. The problem is, the file is not getting saved to the folder when I use the CFiledialog. Below is the code I am using.

I'm trying to split up my game (about 1300 lines) into header files, but I'm coming up with a problem whenever I try and put a function in a header file, when that function was modifying some variables that were defined before int main in the .cpp. For example:
int variable1 (0);
int variable2 (0);
void increasevariables() {
variable 1 = variable1 + 1;
variable2 = variable2 + 1;

If it only modified one variable then I could just pass that variable and the return it:(return variable1 + 1;)But I don't know how to make a function in a header file modify several pre-existing variables. In the actual program, the variables are dependant on each other and the modifying is a lot more complicated, so I'd rather not split it into several functions and run one at a time if there's another way.

I have a class that loads the contents of a XML file into their respective object types and stores those objects in a list. Each object has its own list of objects with properties the program will later modify.
The problem I am currently having is that after looping through the objects and modifying the necessary properties the modifications do not persist. This leads me to believe I am modifying a copy of the object rather than the object I think I am modifying. I am not sure why this is happening as I believe I should be modifying the object that is referenced in the collection.
What I have tried, I started using LINQ to get the object I am looking to modify. After a little more research I don't think this can work properly due to the LINQ query returning a new object(copy of the object). Currently I am using nested foreach loops which still are not behaving the way I expect as the properties I am setting are not making their way back to the original object.
The PopulateLogSheet() in the following class is where the problem loop is.

I have an array of char representing pixels in a bitmap, which I want to modify. I don't think I can just iterate over the array and pass chars into a function individually, because the function needs to take into account the neighboring pixels, too.
I thought of two ways to do this. The first would be to pass the array to the function as an argument, then have the function change it and return it. The trouble is I'm not exactly sure what happens internally when you pass an array to a function and return it. Is it the same array, modified? Or is it a copy of the array, so now you're using twice as much memory?
Alternatively I guess I could have a function with a void return type and pass a pointer to the array. I'm somewhat new to this, but the way I understand it is that a pointer is like the address of a house, while the array is the actual house. So if I give the function the address, it can go to that address and rearrange the furniture inside the house. Then, after the function returns, I can go to that address myself and see all the rearranged furniture, even though the function has already returned.
Is there a problem with the second way? It seems a bit neater, but maybe I'm understanding pointers wrong.
