Apr 11, 2013How would I check for proper data type when someone is to input a value into the program? Ex:

How would you check to make sure that int i would be an actual number and not a letter like "a"?
C++ :: Unable To Input Data From TXT File Into Array Program
Mar 26, 2013I'm having issues trying to input data from a .txt file into my array program. The whole program takes the name, # of goals and assists, adds them together to get points, and then puts in a given + or - rating. The program works except for the data input.
Also, this is an alphabetical "Unsorted" list, but is there a way to order the list based on point value and be able to display that as well as a separate "Ordered" list?

Jul 30, 2013I'm having trouble trying to save a variable from an input of the user. Then use it when i start up another .exe.
If it makes any difference I am using dev c++. I'm using the input as an a or b so some one will put a for english or b for spanish. after that I want to use that info in another if statement of another .exe.

Mar 18, 2013I'm a C beginner. I have questions, let say if I have a structure of message containing of Id, Length, and 3 bytes of data, and I want to manually saved in individual bits of data, how can I do that? I confused on how to use typedef struct and union. Below is the sample code:

By the way, the DataField is declared as above. It's not necessary for a data to be 24 bits. It can be bit 0 - bit 8, it can be bit 10 - bit 15 and so on. So, for each case, I want to ignore the other bits.

Dec 30, 2013so i have two classes ( main and another one ask ) in main i have defined 3 arrays (char drivers[250] ,offences[250] , owners[250]) and also included their pointers ( char *drivers_ptr,*offences_ptr,8owners_ptr)my problem is that i need to set values (actually 1 string of 250 chars to each of these arrays BUT from the class ask without making these arrays global -as this is prohibited by my university exercise !- )
so my question is how will i manage to save data to the arrays that i have defined in main using their addresses(through the pointers of each one that i have passed to the ask class) from the ask class ?

C++ :: Scanning A Header File To Save Image Data
Jun 11, 2013I'm trying to read from a header file to take the image dimensions and other variables but I don't understand how to iterate through the "key" so it saves each line.
This is what the header file will always look like:

Ideally it would just skip the keys that aren't wanted and keep moving through the lines. Should there be a for loop for the key (and if so, how does that work with pointers?) or should this method just be scratched...

With the loading i put this code which i thought would read a text file and put all the content my datatable however a exception pops up saying Duplicate Name exeption. C/C++ :: How To Deserialize Save Game Data (specifically Skyrim)
Jul 29, 2014I'm working on my first own project which is to collect some info from a save game file and then parse it to a website. Skyrim uses a .ess file extension, which to my knowledge is a binary file. I know how to open a file for reading but how to extract the info I need from there. Do all games use a standardized serialization or can the format of this file be anything?
If reading the binary file turns out to be too difficult, would it be possible to hook the game and retrieve info that way? If so, where would you recommend to start learning that stuff?

The user should be able to
1. Enter items
2. Display a list of the items
3. Save the list to disk
4. Read the list from disk
5. Sort the list
6. Exit the program
I know I should use arrays and structs but I don't where to start.
