C++ :: Video Game - Compare 3 Players Score And Output Highest

Oct 21, 2013

I was tasked with creating a program that asks for the scores of three gamers then takes these scores and outputs the highest. I THINK I have the other parts down but I don't know how to get the program to compare the scores and output the highest without having to write a long list of commands comparing playerone to playertwo, then player one to playerthree, then player two to playerone, etc.

#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main () {
int playerOne, playerTwo, playerThree;
cout << "Please enter score for Player One: ";
cin >> playerOne;

C/C++ :: Text Based Game - Adding Players Names?

Mar 28, 2015

I am trying to make a very simple text based game and I want the players to be able to name their characters. Thus, I am trying to have the game ask "how many players will be playing:" and then taking that number (X) and create a place to store that information. I'm trying to get the game to ask, "What is the name of Player1?" Then once the user enters the name it would ask "What is the name of Player2" and that cycle would continue until PlayerX has entered their name. Is what I am doing close?

Here are the errors:

C++ :: Find Average / Highest And Lowest Score?

Oct 9, 2014

Create a 1-D Array to hold a set of exam scores:

55 74 93 84 64 72 69 78 87 84 72 33 83 68 62 51 88 90

Write a program to do the following tasks:

1. Display scores in rows of four(4) scores.

2. Calculate average score and display.

3. Find Lowest score and display.

4. Find Highest score and display.

5. Find the deviation of each score, and display the score and its deviation.

6. Find the Standard Deviation and Display

7. How many scores are within One Standard Deviation

So I have the average down, but I am getting stuck at the part of displaying the highest and lowest score. Every time I run the program I get two giant negative numbers for both of them. I put all the scores into a .txt file and I just opened in through the program.

#include "TCHAR.h"
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <iomanip>

C++ :: Define Virtual Function Compare In Subclass Score?

Mar 26, 2014

I am trying to bend my head around polymorphism but I can't figure out how to use the virtual method properly. I have the following superclass:

Code: class comparable
{
public:
comparable();
virtual bool compare(comparable &other)=0;
}; and the subclass:
Code: class score : public comparable
{
public:
score(string player,int highscore);
bool compare(comparable &other);
string name;
int highscore;
};

My problem is that I do not know how to define the virtual function compare in the subclass score:

Code: bool score::compare(comparable &other){
if(this->highscore > other.???){
...
}
}

How do I tell the compiler that the type is of score?

C++ :: Video Game - Accessing Objects In Another Class?

Dec 3, 2014

I am working on a video game that is based on a tutorial I found online and I ran into an issue associated with accessing an object's method inside another class object's function without making the object global which seems bad.

Here is basically how the tutorial set things up in the game: The game has a base class called GameObject then there are other child classes that inherit from this class. The GameObject class has all the basic information an object would have that needs rendered on the screen (x/y position, size of bitmap, bitmap, whether or not it is collidable, etc).

One of the child classes SpaceShip, which is the player so it has attributes and methods associated with managing # of lives and points scored.

There are other child classes of GameObjects in the game that need to take life and add points from the SpaceShip object if they collide with the spaceship or other objects.

In the collision handling routine I basically call a function "void Collided(int objectID)" when a game object collides with another. Within the Collided() routine, there is logic that executes code or other functions based on the objectID it collided with. Some of the collisions require taking life from the spaceship or adding points. The way this was accomplished in the tutorial was with function pointers (see Bullet class constructor and collided method for example). Is this really the best way to handle this sort of thing? It seems like there has to be a simpler way than to keep referencing function pointers in any new class I want to add to the game. I realized this when I went to add a method for the spaceship to fire bullets rather than inside my game class.

C++ :: Program To Keep Score Of Bowling Game

I'm writing a program to keep score of a game of bowling. Here is my code. I think the problem might be that I'm not using pointers..? but I could be way off..I'm new to programming.

C/C++ :: Stopping A Game When Winning Score Is Reached

Nov 11, 2014

I'm working on coding a game of pong that allows players to play until one reaches a score of 10. Once the winning score is reached I want to display a "Game Over" message stating which player won. The game works perfectly except for stopping when the winning score is reached.

Here is the code I have so far:

//pongTest.cpp
#include "stdafx.h"
#include <string>
#include <Windows.h>
#include <iostream>
#include <conio.h>
#include <sstream>
#include <math.h>

#include <glglu.h>
#include "GL/freeglut.h"

Not sure if my gameOver() function just isn't written properly, I'm not calling it properly, or a mixture of both.

C++ :: Output String Depending On Color Detected In A Frame Video Feed

Jul 18, 2014

what I'm trying to do is output a certain string depending on the color I see in the video feed. For right now, what I've done is threshold the feed so that everything above a certain brightness shows up as Red. Now I want to have something that says if there's any red in the feed, then I output a "1" to a text box on my user interface that's showing the feed. If there is no red, then I output a "0" to the text box.

I'm using Emgu CV C ++ with VS2010.

This is the code I have so far that isn't working correctly, it's giving me a compiler error.

cvConvertScaleAbs(frameFromCamera->Ptr.ToPointer(),frameDisplay->Ptr.ToPointer(),double(1)/16,0);
cvCvtColor(frameDisplay->Ptr.ToPointer(),frameColorDisplay->Ptr.ToPointer(),CV_GRAY2BGR);
cvThreshold(frameDisplay->Ptr.ToPointer(),maskSaturated->Ptr.ToPointer(),200,255,CV_THRESH_BINARY);

[Code] .....

and the error it's giving me

BAOTFISInterface.cpp(1010): error C2664: 'Emgu::CV::Image<TColor,TDepth> ^Emgu::CV::Image<TColor,TDepth>::InRange(Emgu::CV::Image<TColor,TDepth>
