C++ :: Compiling Static Version Of Boost Libraries?

I have been trying to compile a static version of the boost libraries, however when I try to launch the program it says fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'libboost_serialization-vc100-mt-s-1_53.lib'

I have checked in the boost/stage/lib folder and that file is not there. I compiled boost with b2 link=static yet the file still isn't there.

I have an issue getting boost libraries to work with QT IDE. Here are relevant lines from my .pro file...

INCLUDEPATH += c:/users/bob/desktop/boost_1_53_0/
LIBS += -LC:c:/users/bob/desktop/boost_1_53_0/stage/lib64

After adding #include <boost/filesystem.hpp> I get error...

C:UsersobDesktopqtpuntitled5mainwindow.cpp:3: error: C1083: Cannot open include file: 'boost/filesystem.hpp': No such file or directory

The IDE does not highlight the line. The error only appears on compilation.

i have written an algorithm in VC++ 2010 express edition. i have used the following header files

the algorithm worked fine in vc 2010 express edition....

the following header files are not working in vc5

Looks like some of hte boost libraries have to added with vc5.. If any one knows how to add boost libraries with vc5.

showing lot of errors in vc5... not able to run the algorithm in vc5. Our company has only vc5.... the algorithm has to be implemented in vc 2010....

I'm currently working on a Microsoft (unmanaged) C++ project which utilizes Boost C++ libraries. It's been quite a while since I've done C++ and I have no previous experience using the Boost libraries.

We are using Boost 1.55 and MSVC 2013. We used CMake to generate the Visual Studio solutions and projects based on the original project layout.

We've successfully built and tested on other environments. In the MSVC - Windows environment, we've run into issues using Boost's Property Tree support. Specifically, the issue seem to center around trying to put properties into PTNodes.

Consider the following code snippet:

This work around seems insert the nodes successfully into the tree.

We are able to verify by finding the inserted items in ::SetResult().

Why this might be failing in VisualStudio C++?

Is this an issue of compiler flags?

precompiler definitions?

Linker options??

Memory mode/model??

Are there some basic behaviour differences in MSVC C++ and other C++ environments which we are unaware of?

I've tried to identify all instances of the node insert pattern and use the work around. But, we really need to find out what the issue is (as there could be other manifestations).

I have written a program that uses boost in visual studio 2012. The only boost library I used is filesystem by doing.

1)Properties->Linker->General and adding the path or the .lib to the additional dependencies. The libraries, link at compile time.However when i move the exe to a different computer, it doesn't work. Therefore the libraries were dynamically not statically linked. So my question is how do I statically link the filesystem library, so that i can include boost/filesystem.hpp in visual studio 2012?

1. Is that mean that Do() is only available for use by Dog itself because Dog is 'oryginal' Dog, and if i create new dogs - instances of oryginal Dog (dog1, dog2 ...) they cant access because Do is only available fo 'oryginal' one? Is that correct thinking?

If i would want to have something common (e.g value) for all dogs is that good way to create static field/method for Dog instead of non-static once then all instances of Dog would access Dog static member to get/change it? C++ :: Embedding Version Strings At Build Time

I have a set of projects. Each one builds either a static library or an executable. What I'd like to do, is at build time I want to embed a version string representing the version of the executable as well as the version of each library. These version strings will come from an external source (in my case it's based on a "git describe" call, but that's beside the point). Embedding such strings can be highly valuable for traceability. (Versions of 3rd-party libraries are not necessary.)

I'm using qmake as my build system, but this should work more or less similarly with any build tool. What I'd ideally like to do is define this process in such a self-contained way that a an absolutely minimal amount of additional code is required in order to leverage it. Preferably, nothing more than an include(version.pri) in each project's .pro file in order to collect the versions. (Retrieving them later, such as to respond to a --version command-line flag, can be done via traditional C++ methods.)

What I've done so far is to define a singleton VersionTracker class, and then tweak the build system so that "MODULE" and "VERSION" are preprocessor symbols defined at build time. I've also tweaked the build system so that a file in each project, version.cpp, is rebuilt (and regenerated if necessary) on every build regardless of changes. This source file can capture the information in the preprocessor symbols into each static library and the executable.

Now, here's the problem. How can I get the information from those version.cpp files into the VersionTracker class? I thought I could use a global object's constructor to do it, but it turns out the symbols are stripped out when the static libraries are linked so I only get the executable's version. I also found a page on stackoverflow detailing a very clever way to call a registration function at class definition time, but again the class definition appears to be stripped out if it's defined in the version.cpp file of a static library and not referenced elsewhere.

Everything I've read basically says you either need to use linker flags to prevent symbol stripping entirely, which is probably an adoption-killer for this hack, or you need to use an explicit registration function called from the executable. I'd prefer to avoid this since it is just another thing a programmer could forget to update when a library dependency is added or removed.

My last idea, which I haven't tried yet, would be to put each version.cpp into a separate static library from the one it is describing. This version-only library could be linked without symbol stripping. I don't love this concept but it might work.

I haven't yet figured out how shared libraries can be worked into this framework at all. I'll worry about that after I get static libraries working.

What I need to do is be able to add a certain number of minutes to a date and have it give the current date/time. For example, add 15918765 minutes to 01/01/1980 00:00 and have it tell me 04/07/2010 4:45PM. I really don't want to write this myself or go platform-specific.

I want to write a small game library that uses GLFW.

So I have for example a window class that uses GLFW functions.

To do that my window class must include the GLFW header files.But I don't want, that if I use my library later and I include my window class, that all GLFW functions are included, too.

How I can prevent this and hide GLFW from users of this library completely, so they theoretical don't notice that this library use GLFW ?

And a second question, is it possible, if I export my game library statically that the GLFW lib files are hidden in my own lib files, so that I have finally only one lib file that is needed to use my library ?
