Visual C++ :: Character Controller - Getting Error When Adding Pointer

Sep 29, 2012

I was trying to write a character controller but when I went to add my pointer to my character I get error

C2143: syntax error : missing ';' before '*'

I've looked at all my classes involved but I don't see any errors and Visual Studio doesn't report any other specific errors. Is there any way of finding the source of this type of error?

C++ :: Embedded Micro Controller - Pointer To Class Member

Sep 19, 2014

This project is for an embedded micro controller. In the project i wrote a class that generically services uarts. then i declare 6 objects of that class and hand them configurations for each specific uart.

internally all the objects have a send buffer of data that is still to be sent that gets populated by the object member function.

how can i make an array of function pointers that can point to the same member but of six different objects.

for example (not a working one)

class uart {
private:
struct myData {
unsigned char data[20]
int head
int tail
int count;

Visual C++ :: Error Assigning Pointer To Iterator

Nov 27, 2014

im trying to port a code from vc6 to vs2013 and im having this error

Code:

Error11error C2440: 'initializing' : cannot convert from 'char *' to 'std::_Vector_iterator<std::_Vector_val<std::_Simple_types<char>>>' on this line

Code:
vector<char>::iterator BufIt = (char*)lpBuffer;

what i do with this is to stack fragments of data of type char* coming from a socket in buffer to a vector that acts as buffer, I do this since I transfer big chunks of data and the data gets fragmented by the nature of the sockets, I stack the data once its complete I retrieve the final result from the vector.

this code worked flawlessly for long time but now Im trying to port and compiler throws this error, whats the new way to assign a char array pointer to a iterator so i can stack it in the vector.

C++ :: Return A Pointer To The Character At The Index Given

I need understanding the logic behind this function. The function is supposed to "Return a pointer to the character at the index given" . For example, what exactly are we declaring at "(char * const c, int index)"? where does "index" come from or equal to in the body of the function?

Code:

2
3

char * GetValueAtIndex(char * const c, int index)

int i = 0;
char *p = c;

C :: Cast To Character Pointer For Printf

Apr 18, 2014

I cannot get the following to compile. The problem is the printf on the last line. I understand that printf requires a char (or pointer to char). I understand that I can convert between datatypes by putting the target data type in parenthises in front of the variable. But how do I cast the integer into a character and then get it's pointer to pass into printf?

Following is my code. I compile with gcc temp.c -o temp.

Note that I have tried many attempts at that last line and this is just the one that I really, really think should work (or is at least the closest to the correct answer).

This code shown below, using printf("%s", &(char)nextChar); returns

temp.c:26: error: lvalue required as unary '&' operand

If I try to use printf("%s", *(char)nextChar); I get the error

temp.c:26: error: invalid type argument of 'unary *' (have 'int')

This line printf("%s", (char)nextChar); returns the obvious

format '%s' expects type 'char *', but argument 2 has type 'int'

Code:

#include <stdio.h>
int main() {
printf("hello, world
");
#if defined(SUNDIALS_EXTENDED_PRECISION)

C/C++ :: Access Violation Adding A Pointer To List?

Feb 17, 2014

This code works:

//void Fighter::LoadAnimation(...){
std::list<SCML_SFML::Entity*> entities;
for(std::map<int, SCML::Data::Entity*>::iterator e = data.entities.begin(); e != data.entities.end(); e++) {
SCML_SFML::Entity* entity = new SCML_SFML::Entity(&data, e->first);
entity->setFileSystem(&fs);
entity->setScreen(&window);
entities.push_back(entity);//problem line
}
}

But if i change entities to a member variable, std::list<SCML_SFML::Entity*> Fighter::m_entities, it does not. Instead i get a write access violation when i try to push_back(entity). i need it to be a member variable because i need to use it in other member functions.

C# :: ArgumentNullException Error When Adding To Database

Jan 24, 2014

I am trying to add some data to my SQL database using EntityFramework as so:

[HttpPost]
public ActionResult Add(string moduleCode)
{
HttpCookie cookie = Request.Cookies["UserLogin"];

[Code]....

When ever it gets to the stage of db.SaveChanges() I get this error, but using intellisense I have checked the values in the object and there are no Null fields.

Do you think It might be better to use SQLConnection instead? Also I beleive EntityFramework is more secure becuase there is no SQL Injection, is this correct? So If I do go down the SQLConnection route could this SQL Injection pose a threat?

C++ ::  Adding New Item To Vectors Received As Parameter - Logic Error

I once again have a logic error. This time I am positively baffled: I am making a function that messes with three vectors it receives as parameters. The function adds new items to those vectors, but the funny thing is, while it completely normally adds items to two of the three, it fails to do so for the first, despite the fact that I use the same template! Here the function is:

void giveReward( Character player, vector<string>& spells, vector<string>& weapons, vector<string>& armor ) {
int reward, rewardGen;

reward = rand() % 3 + 1;

C :: Write Text And Find Frequency Of 1 Chosen Character In It - Input Error Handling

Dec 20, 2014

I'm new in programming, and trying to write a code in C. The requirement is following - to write a text, and to find frequency of 1 chosen character in it. The main thing is that program should check user input (for example, I want to check if user entered "char" --> then correct, or if entered "int" --> not correct). But the program still doesn't check. So I have:

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
int main(){
char c[1000], ch;
char i, count=0;
printf("Enter a text: ");
gets(c);

[Code] ....

Am I on my right way using if/else?

int ival;
double dval;

I would like to:-pick the data-display-edit and - save in the controller.

To read the data I am using the function

and to save

CP5200_Net_Write (const BYTE * pBuf, int nLength);

C# :: How To Manually Control The Temperature Of High Power Leds Using PID Controller

Mar 20, 2015

how to manually control the temperature of High Power Leds using PID controller. I have two GUIs,one reads the temperature from the Led while the second is used to ON/OFF the Leds and at the same time controls the Led brightness using slider control.The GUI that reads the temperature has a PID controller application on it.The output from this controller is what i want to use to increase or decrease the Led brightness which invariable changes the Led temperature.How to go about using this PID controller to control the Led brightness is what i have not been able to grasp well.The slider on the GUI is scaled from 0% to 100%.My thinking is that the output from the controller should be in percentage which will make me to adjust the slider accordingly.My question is that will this type of arrangment produce an output that will efficiently control the Led brightness. how to accomplish that. Attached to this post is a modified code of a tutorial on PID controller which i found on the net. a tutorial on how to develop a graph. i wish to display the Setpoint,Process value and the output value on a graph.

Visual C++ :: Adding Header And Lib Files At Runtime?

Feb 4, 2013

I was created a dynamic library (Used win32 App) & compiled with no error.

Then i was created my main application (MFC) & paste the .h,.lib,.dll files from the source path(dll App Path) to destination path(Main App Path). If i used the below command in my app means the project working good.

Code:
#include "Alg.h"
#Progma Command(lib, "VTAlg.lib")
& also paste the VTAlg.dll in my app path.

here Alg.h contains the some methods , In future i will edit the function like below for my client requirement but no function name & Arguments change. The changes made in inside function(Logically changed) only.

My client contains only .exe file + .dll file.

My requirement, So after change the method i will send only .dll file to my client

If i change my lib file name VTAlg2.lib instead of VTAlg1.lib (But Same Function name & Arg type)means how can i edit the code below

Code:
#include "Alg.h"
#Progma Command(lib, "VTAlg.lib")

& How to run my application at client place.
