C++ ::  Adding New Item To Vectors Received As Parameter - Logic Error

Mar 14, 2014

I once again have a logic error. This time I am positively baffled: I am making a function that messes with three vectors it receives as parameters. The function adds new items to those vectors, but the funny thing is, while it completely normally adds items to two of the three, it fails to do so for the first, despite the fact that I use the same template! Here the function is:

void giveReward( Character player, vector<string>& spells, vector<string>& weapons, vector<string>& armor ) {
int reward, rewardGen;
srand( time( 0 ) );
reward = rand() % 3 + 1;

C++ :: Logic Error - Maze Not Displaying

Jan 24, 2014

So I have a program where I solve a maze using stacks. So my display_maze function take two parameters and displays the maze according to where the x coordinate and y coordinate are.

I have an error during my move function, as my maze doesn't display for some reason

void Player::player_move() {
Stack stack;
Maze maze;
Lock taken;
// Monster monster;

stack.push_values();

[Code] ....

It should be displaying, because after debugging I discovered the problem isn't with the display_maze function.

C++ :: Cannot Seem To Find Logic Error In Perceptron

Jan 28, 2014

I can't seem to find the logic error in my perceptron. The perceptron's feedback function pushes back a bias of 1.0 into the input vector, and calculates the dot product of the input vector and it's weight vector, and returns 1 if the dot product is > 0, and -1 otherwise. This will determine whether the inputted point is above or below the hyperplane given by the functor.

The training function instantiates a trainer object , which feeds it a vector random numbers, along with the correct answer (in this case, whether the point is above or below the hyperplane given by a functor). It then calls the feedback function, and subtracts its answer from the correct answer, and updates the weights by adding the input vector to the weight vector, and multiplying the weight vector by the error, and by a correction factor, in this case 0.01.

Typedef.hpp

Code:
#ifndef TYPEDEF_HPP
#define TYPEDEF_HPP
#include <vector>
#include <random>
typedef std::vector<float> FloatV;
typedef std::random_device RNG;

C/C++ :: Adding Strings To Vectors?

Apr 19, 2012

I was given a project to program a library catalog. One of the aspects is that we have to allow an administrator to add, modify, and delete books from the catalog. It was recommended to me to use vectors. So I initialized by hand a default book list, and now I want to be able to have an adminisistrator add books and then print the modified book list. Here is what I have got:

C# :: ArgumentNullException Error When Adding To Database

Jan 24, 2014

I am trying to add some data to my SQL database using EntityFramework as so:

[HttpPost]
public ActionResult Add(string moduleCode)
{
HttpCookie cookie = Request.Cookies["UserLogin"];

[Code]....

When ever it gets to the stage of db.SaveChanges() I get this error, but using intellisense I have checked the values in the object and there are no Null fields.

Do you think It might be better to use SQLConnection instead? Also I beleive EntityFramework is more secure becuase there is no SQL Injection, is this correct? So If I do go down the SQLConnection route could this SQL Injection pose a threat?

C++ :: Create Two Vectors And Then Loop Through The Vectors

Sep 19, 2014

This is probably a very basic question, but I need to create two vectors and then loop through the vectors and output each pair that is found.

The user will input min1 and max1 with step1 for the first vector and min2 and max2 and step2 for the second vector. Then the loops will go through and return the combinations will return each pair of the two vectors.

So if I input min1=1 and max1=10 and step1=1 and same for vector two the return would be:

[1,1]
[1,2]
.
.
.
[10,10]

This is for part of a homework assignment, but I can't continue on the assignment without first getting this simple part to work.

C++ :: Setting Default Parameter Based On Another Parameter?

Jul 2, 2013

Here's my function definition

bool validateNumber(string& text, int min = 0, int max = -1, bool useMin = true,
bool getValid = true)

The code takes the string text, and checks the make sure that the input is valid and safe to convert and use as a number. However, sometimes there is not min, and sometimes there is no max. The lack of min is done by using the parameter useMin, while the lack of max is done by max < min.

My predicament is the following call:
validateNumber(text, -2);

Now, max will be used, even though I don't want it. Ideally, I would want to do something like... int max = (min - 1), ... but that doesn't work. I also can't check to see if the parameter hasn't been changed (that I know of), because the following call would make it look like it hasn't
validateNumber(text, -2, -1);

So the question is, is there a way to do what I want, without having to add in a bool useMax parameter? Or is this my only option? I don't want to do that for simplicity, but if I have to, I have to.

C++ :: Generate A Report Based On Input Received From A Text File

Nov 5, 2014

Here is the assignment... Write a program to generate a report based on input received from a text file. Suppose the input text file student_status.txt contains the student’s name (lastName, firstName middleName), id, number of credits earned as follows :

Doe, John K.
3460 25
Andrews, Susan S.
3987 72
Monroe, Marylin
2298 87
Gaston, Arthur C.
2894 110

Generate the output in the following format :

John K. Doe 3460 25 Freshman
Susan S. Andrews 3987 40 Sophomore
Marylin Monroe 2298 87 Junior
Arthur C. Gaston 2894 110 Senior

The program must be written to use the enum class_level :

enum class_level {FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, SENIOR } ;

and define two namespace globalTypes (tys and fys) for the function :

class_level deriveClassLevel(int num_of_credits) ;

The function deriveClassLevel should derive the class_level of the student based on the number of credits earned.

The first namespace globalType tys should derive the class level based on a two year school policy. And the second namespace globalType fys should derive the class level based on a four year school policy.

Four Year School Policy:
Freshman 0-29 creditsSophomore 30-59 credits
Junior 60-89 creditsSenior 90 or more credits

Two Year School Policy:
Freshman 0-29 creditsSophomore 30 or more credits

and this is the code I have so far...

#include <cstdlib>
#include <iostream>
#include <cctype>
#include <fstream>
using namespace std;
enum class_level {FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE,JUNIOR,SENIOR};
class_level classLevel;

[Code] .....

My main question is did I use the namespaces and enum correctly? And my second question is whats the best way to input the data from the text file? This is really where I get stuck.

C++ :: Generate A Report Based On Input Received From Text File

Nov 7, 2014

Write a program to generate a report based on input received from a text file. Suppose the input text file student_status.txt contains the student’s name (lastName, firstName middleName), id, number of credits earned as follows :

Doe, John K.
3460 25
Andrews, Susan S.
3987 72
Monroe, Marylin
2298 87
Gaston, Arthur C.
2894 110

Generate the output in the following format :

John K. Doe 3460 25 Freshman
Susan S. Andrews 3987 40 Sophomore
Marylin Monroe 2298 87 Junior
Arthur C. Gaston 2894 110 Senior

The program must be written to use the enum class_level :

enum class_level {FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, SENIOR } ;

and define two namespace globalTypes (tys and fys) for the function :

class_level deriveClassLevel(int num_of_credits) ;

The function deriveClassLevel should derive the class_level of the student based on the number of credits earned.

The first namespace globalType tys should derive the class level based on a two year school policy.
The second namespace globalType fys should derive the class level based on a four year school policy.

So I basically did it in parts and got everything working and then had to make the namespace so I had this:

#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
enum class_level { FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, SENIOR };

[Code] ......

I know I have to clean it up and change it but it ran like it was suppose to. Then I tried adding the global namespaces and I this:

#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
enum class_level { FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, SENIOR };
class_level classLevel;

[Code] ....

with this i keep getting an error saying tys::deriveClassLevel: must return a value and tys::fys::deriveClassLevel: must return a value. I have been messing around with this part and struggling I thought I used the namespace to run the if statements with the criteria for the years of school. Basically I have been stuck for awhile and trying to change things around but I cant seem to get it to work.
