Visual C++ :: Print Sequence Data Structure

Sep 15, 2012

Printing out a sequence data structure. I am using a PC running Windows 7 with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. This sequence has a dynamic array which stores a value_type which can be any of the built in data types for C++. Initially the sequence is 30 slots long. When the program starts the user starts at the beginning of the sequence by choosing the "!" option from the menu. The user will then insert a number such as 11 by selecting the "I" option (upper or lower case). Then the user will go to the next position in the sequence by selecting the "+" option then insert 22, then go to the next position and insert 33.

To show that the numbers are actually in the sequence the user goes back to the beginning of the array by selecting "!" and then select "C" to display the current number of 11. Then the user goes to the next position by selecting "+" and then "C" to display 22 and so forth. At this point the member function called current() works just find , but when trying to print the contents of the entire sequence the program displays garbage. Why?

Code:
// FILE: sequence_test.cpp
// An interactive test program for the new sequence class
#include <cctype> // Provides toupper
#include <iostream> // Provides cout and cin
#include <cstdlib> // Provides EXIT_SUCCESS
#include "sequence2.h" // With value_type defined as double
using namespace std;
using namespace CISP430_A2;

I want to display data from text file in list view and in tree view root will be file name, but i dont know how to do it, the problem is with displaying text file data in list view, i don't know anything about that. text file data is very simple. It is just a square matrix of double values like:

21.06 34.06 5.0
12.78 45.25 6.9
12.89 45.98 5.5

in list view i want to display it.

Visual C++ :: CString - Display Some Data In Text Format On A Dialog

Aug 7, 2014

I am trying to display some data in text format on a dialog and I am using a CString to do it. Below is how I coded it.

Code:
CString outputStr;
CString auxStr;
// Add header
outputStr.Format("");
auxStr.Format("%-7s%-20s%-7s%-20s%s

[Code] .....

But the output rows are not aligned as shown in the attached picture. There a two problems.

1. Data rows don't align with the header row.
2. When the first element of a row changes to two digits, the other elements are shifted.

According to MSDN [URL] ...., CString::Format() works the same way as printf(). I wrote a small program using printf() to do the same thing, and the output in the console are perfectly aligned.

What have I missed when doing the display in GUI?

Visual C++ :: Low-Level Keyboard Input Detection?

Mar 13, 2014

I am writing an software that should be able to detect all keyboard inputs by the user. i.e., both hardware and software/on-screen keyboard.

This software is going to be written in a platform independent way and supposed to run on Windows, Linux, Android & iOS.

The idea is to capture the keyboard inputs from a low level, there by making sure that it doesn't miss any inputs even if it's a on-screen keyboard like in a mobile device.

I am looking at possible open source libraries that can be used.

Visual C++ :: Blocking Keyboard Play / Pause Button In Windows 8?

Mar 27, 2014

I am writing an application that needs to temporarily disable the Play/Pause button that appears on multimedia keyboards.

Normally, a key can be blocked quite easily by installing a low level keyboard hook (WH_KEYBOARD_LL) where the KeyboardProc intercepts the key (in this case VK_MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE) and returns a "1" instead of calling CallNextHookEx. I have tried this with other keys (including the Windows key VK_LWIN) and this works perfectly. I also have no problems with this method under Windows 7 where all keys, including VK_MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE get blocked.

Windows 8 is a different story. When my application has input focus, everything works as expected, meaning the VK_MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE key gets blocked and no other application responds to it. However, when my application loses focus, my hook procedure gets called (this was verified by sending out a OutputDebugString) but other applications respond to key even though I return a "1". As soon as my app gets focus again, everything is block as it should.

After some investigation, I found that the multimedia keys not only generate keystrokes but also generate WM_APPCOMMAND messages so I added ShellProc (WH_SHELL) hook with the following hook procedure:

LRESULT __declspec(dllexport)__stdcall CALLBACK ShellProc(int nCode,WPARAM wParam,LPARAM lParam) {
// Do we have to handle this message?
if (nCode == HSHELL_APPCOMMAND) {
OutputDebugStringX(">>>>> HSHELL_APPCOMMAND");

[code]....

This procedure is only getting called when my app has input focus. Whenever I have input focus and return "1" the Play/Pause command gets blocked. As soon as I lose focus the procedure does not get called/hooked.

As I have mentioned, the code works for other keys, just not the multimedia keys.

Alternatively, another way of blocking the multimedia keyboards Play/Pause button?

Visual C++ :: Enter File Name By Keyboard Instead Of Command Line Arguments?

Mar 10, 2013

Actually the below program is for Dispersal Algorithm called Rabin-IDA; this algorithm divided the data into N pieces and then recombine it from M pieces (such that M<N).

Thus, the below program needs command line arguments,which entering by Project properties/Debugging. this argument is file name, where the program performing spitted the file into N files, and then recombine it from M divided files, and put it on another file which should also passing its name as argument .

Now my question is, How can i make this program enter the file name by keyboard??(i mean enter the files name by user from screen not as command line arguments) ... In another word, How I can exchange ?

Code:
argc == 3
and
Code:
argc == 2

To enter file name ? i mean what i should do to in

Code:
rabin.split(argv[1])

To pass my file name by use keyboard not Project properties/Debugging?)

the below code is just the main function of program, and the whole of it in this link [URL] .... Information Dispersal Algorithms Rabin-IDA.

Code:
#include "include.h"
void __cdecl _tmain(int argc, TCHAR *argv[]) {
DWORD ini=GetTickCount();
try {

[Code] ....

I know I should use getline() function but how exchange argv[] ?

data_test.push_Back(new stest);

within this structure, I have: only one na and one nb, but ten groups of combination of va, vb, vc, vd that I can access by pointer, which means na, nb are independent but still inside of the structure.

typedef struct {

int b;

<vector <vector<S> > v;

Now I also have different pointers that can be set in connection with one instance of the above shown vector. Therefore I was attempting to work with a map:

map<p*, <vector<vector <S> >, vector<sI> > m;

However, it seems like it doesn't work that way. Therefore I tried the following:

map<p*, map<<vector<vector <S> >, vector<S> > > m2;

With this attempt I do now, however, get another mistake here, that [] cannot be used here:

S s;
m2[p][0].push_back(s);

C++ :: What Data Structure Does A Vector Use

Dec 14, 2013

Does it use Linked List or Dynamic Array?

I want to know this because if I happen to want to use a lot of insertions and deletions then it is more efficient to make use of Linked List instead of Dynamic Array.

While, if I happen to want to just access random parts of the Array, then Dynamic would be more efficient.

I want to make a 2D game using SDL engine and I need to check whether or not an object is colliding with a list of other objects. (because there would be more then one objects on the map.)

Since I would simply be accessing each object sequentially to check whether or not the object is colliding with another the object in question, and since any of those objects could "die" and be deleted at any time, it makes more sense to use Linked List then a Dynamic Array.

C :: How To Do Arithmetic On Structure Members Read From A Text File

May 19, 2014

I am trying to use arithmetic on structure members read from separate text files into separate functions. I'm trying to do the math in the main function after calling the other two functions. I'm trying to divide nato_attack by pact_defence.

The warning I'm getting is: both are being used uninitialized in this function.

The goal is to read/write the info in the text files and to use them as any other variable, i.e. add, subtract, etc. in other locations in my code, i.e. functions, modules.

I "borrowed" most of this code from a youtube lesson and modified it for my needs.

Below is the contents of the two text files and my code.

C/C++ :: How To Structure And Write A Class For Text File Streams

I need to make a program which reads multiple lines from a text file and stores that information in a vector of structs(the vector class template also needs to be custom made).

One of my requirements is to have a class dedicated for I/O for the text file. At the moment I can't seem to get a way to input the data from a file into a vector from an InputOutput class. This is my code:

C/C++ :: How To Assign Values From Text File To Structure Of Arrays

Sep 5, 2014

have to do an election program in C.

There are 7 candidates and 365 votes in total. I need to do this using an array of structures. I need to read from a text file each of the names of the candidate and the number of votes they get. At the end i need to output the winner of the election.

Here is a sample of my code so far

#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <string.h>
struct candidates {
char name[20];
int votes;

[code]....

Here is a sample of my text file:

Robert Bloom
John Brown
Michelle Dawn
Michael Hall
Sean O’Rielly
Arthur Smith
Carl White

1 2 4 5 1 2 3 4 4 1 2 3 7 4 4 5 3 7 7 7 7 7 7 7 7 7

Each candidate gets +1 vote for their number electionCandidate[0] for each one he gets one vote and so on for the rest. 365 voters in total.

I was able to input the name for each Candidate from the text file. Now the problem is putting each vote to the corresponding candidate. Also any vote that is above 7 is a spoilt vote which i am trying to count in the above code. The code compiles but it crashes.

I am using while(!feof) but it seems that its not working or this is not the correct way.
