I am using a struct and tying to send values to it as byte value
Code:
#include<stdio.h>
typedef struct{
unsigned r1:1;
unsigned r2:1;
unsigned r3:1;
[Code] ....
Error: invalid suffix "b00100000" or incompatible types in assignment
I am able to access the member as Range.r1 = 1; and have no problems. I want to send data whole at once, but how ?

I'm writing a program in C that performs operations on an array of 4-byte unsigned integers. Here's some usage examples:
+ n m // print sum of elements at indexes n and m
& n m // bitwise and of elements...
< n m // shift element at index n by m bits
I will have to implement functions for sum, bitwise-and, bitwise-or, xor, left-shift, right-shift... All with the same function format:
void print_operation(unsigned n, unsigned m) {
printf("%u
", n some_operator m);
}
Is there any way that I can pass an operator as an argument so that I can have a single elegant function that looks like this? I'd really like this to work like callback functions.
void print_operation(unsigned n, unsigned m, some_type oper) {
printf("%u
", oper(n, m));
}

I am trying to generate a couple of vectors, but the exact number of vectors that will be needed can only be determined at runtime. Therefore I had the idea to use a macro call and text substitution in order to declare the necessary number of vectors. Unfortunately, the arguments of a macro call are always (as far as I know) considered text only. So, the loop in my example below in which I am trying to generate the following code:
vector<int> vector0;
vector<int> vector1;
vector<int> vector2;
vector<int> vector3;
does not work.
#include <iostream>
#include <vector>
using namespace std;
#define declareVec(vecno) vector<int> vector##vecno;
[Code]......
I get an an error message 'vector0' was not declared in this scope.
I also tried to initialize a string or char with the content "0" and then pass this string or char to the macro call, but this did not work either.
Is there any way in which I could use the content of an integer variable or any other variable as arguments for a macro call?

How can I pass ":" or " " as an argument to a process?
I start a process which takes an IP and port number (ex 222.240.224.131:80) as argument. Another character that I want to pass is white space character. Both of these characters cuts the argument string and sends only the part that leads them.

I am writing a text-based rpg and I'm having some issues trying to pass the player struct to a function. First, here are the relevant code snippets. Also, Player.c and Player.h aren't completed but the relevant function is. I just run tests every now and then to see if everything is working right.
Monster.h
#ifndef MONSTER_H
#define MONSTER_H
#include "Weapon.h"
typedef struct Player;
typedef struct {
char* mName;
[Code] ....
The errors are:
1. line 33 in Monster.h, the void Attack_Monster_Types(Monster* m, Player* p) the ide says missing ')' before '*', missing '{' before '*' and 'Player' name in formal parameter list illegal
2. line 18 in main.c when the attack function is called. it says 'Attack_Monster_Types' Undefined; assuming extern returning int.
I believe I have all the right headers included so I'm not sure what to do ....

I have some trouble with DLL. I created a dll with function
double square(const double * args)
and then in my application defines
typedef double (*MyFunct)(const double *args);
I use LoadLibrary and GetProcAddress to get the function address and cast it to MyFunct. Everything works fine except that when I pass a double *, for example 0x08800350, to the DLL function, the argument becomes totally something else, for example, 0x0aa00460.
I have no clue what happens to the argument value.

I'm trying to pass an reference of the object ifstream to my constructor as such:
// myClass.cpp
int main(){
ifstream file;
myClass classobj = myClass(file);}
I am defining the constructor as follows, in myClass.cpp:
myClass::myClass(ifstream &file){
// do stuff
}
I get the error of "No overloaded function of myClass::myClass matches the specified type."
Also, when I build the program, it tells me "syntax error: identifier 'ifstream'"
Also, I made sure I included this:
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <sstream>
What am I doing wrong? How can I pass an ifstream reference to my constructor?

I'm quite new to C and these days I have been playing around with a linked list. I managed to make a working version using pointers, ad only for the sake of learning I was trying to do the same thing just passing the "Object reference" Here is the method that apparently doesn't work..
Code:
struct Node addNode(struct Node head){
int value;
struct Node *n;
printf("Please enter the value
");
scanf("%d", &value);
[Code]...
when I return the function i have something like: head=addNode(head)
Unfortunately it does not work the way I aspect. I suppose that there is something I have left out..
Code:
like n->next=&head
// passing the address of the head at the next pointer of the struct
head =*n
//copy the values of the new node to the old head..
There must be something wrong with this line.. return head; What have I done wrong?

I am trying to extract unsigned values from an input stream. I expect the extraction to fail when an invalid character is extracted. It fails correctly when I try to extract an unsigned int from "abc", but when I try to extract an unsigned in from "-1", the extraction succeeds, and the max unsigned int value is extracted (as if -1 were cast to unsigned int). I would expect the '-' to cause the extraction of an unsigned value to fail.
The code I am using is below.
#include <iostream>
#include <sstream>
#include <string>
#include <limits>
int main() {
unsigned int value = 8;
std::string negString = "-1";
[Code]...
Is this standard behavior for an istream extractor?
I am trying this in both Linux (gcc 4.4.3) and in windows with Code::Blocks (whaterver came with CB 13.12, apparently gcc 4.7.1)

I'm having issues trying to input data from a .txt file into my array program. The whole program takes the name, # of goals and assists, adds them together to get points, and then puts in a given + or - rating. The program works except for the data input.
Also, this is an alphabetical "Unsorted" list, but is there a way to order the list based on point value and be able to display that as well as a separate "Ordered" list?
#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>
#include <fstream>
#define NUM_PLAY 30
using namespace std;
int buildArrays(int[], int[], int[]);
void printArrays(string[], int[], int[], int[], int);
[Code]...
And this is the .txt file. Order is Players Name, Goals, Assists, Plus/Minus rating. The points are added when points = goals + assists (Should be in the main coding above).

Brandon_Bollig 0 0 0
Dave_Bolland 4 2 -1

I need writing the function that makes change for an input number. Input a bunch of quarters, dimes, nickels, pennies, then in MAKE_CHANGE the amount per say (184) is input. So for 184cents, runs through quarters first using the quarters we have in the coinbox, and then goes to the next currency for the remaining 9cents
(184/25=7 184%25=9).
#include <cstdlib>
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
struct coinbox {
int quarters;
int dimes;

I need to create a list of all members of a struct using the sturct definition as input. The struct is NOT part of the program, but is the input to the program.
The struct that I am using changes over time as features are added. I need the complete, fully qualified field names to then generate a table with all names with their offsets, type and length.
This information then allows me to create readers of the data that will run on different architectures, compilers and operating systems.
The struct currently has 800+ lines and uses typedef and embedded structs.
Perhaps this could be done creating LEX, YACC, Perl, SED, AWK or other language system.

I've been given an assignment with the below questions.
1. What is the difference between pass by reference & pass by pointers?
2. What is the use of the initialization list in the constructor?
3. What is meant by a reference & its advantage?
4. Class has a reference, pointer and a const. Is it possible to write the copy constructor & assignment operator overloading funciton? how? ( Since reference is there, I'm not sure on how to write for it)
5. Example for a variable decleration and definition? (I know for function but for variable don kw how)
6. static and const static what is the difference??

I want to create an application that starts an application and passes input to that application. I know how to start a process using the classes in System.Diagnostics, but I don't know how to pass data to the process.
For example, and this is just an example, I would like to be able to automatically start an application that requires a username and password and automatically enter the username and password. Of course, that might open the door to security vulnerabilities, but that's not the point of the exercise.
How to implement the functionality I described? Is there a general way to go about doing this or does it depend entirely on the idiosyncrasies of the application in question?

I was attempting something weired with address to move data around when I discovered that the size of the array is not what I expected. I am passing this structure as &Users to a function that declares it as a void *, then I can deal with chunks of data (memmove) and not have to worry about index or things like that. However...sizeof is returning something I do not understand.
