How to convert numbers into words using ragged dynamic arrays? this is my solution:
int main()
{
char *Units[]={"ZERO", "ONE", "TWO", "THREE","FOUR","FIVE", "SIX","SEVEN", "EIGHT", "NINE"};
char *teens []={"TEN", "ELEVEN", "TWELVE","THIRTEEN", "FOURTEEN", "FIFTEEN", "SIXTEEN", "SEVENTEEN", "EIGHTEEN","NINETEEN" };
char *hundreds []= {"HUNDRED"};
char *tens []={ "ZERO", "TEN", "TWENTY", "THIRTY", "FOURTY", "FIFTY", "SIXTY", "SEVENTY", "EIGHTY", "NINETY"};
char *currency []={"Dollars"};

Write a c++program that asks the user to enter positive integer numbers without points between 0 and 999. Then check the amount and print in words. You need to use dynamic ragged arrays..
This is my solution but I'm not sure if this is the right way for dynamic ragged array???:
int main()
{
char *Units[]={"ZERO", "ONE", "TWO", "THREE","FOUR","FIVE", "SIX","SEVEN", "EIGHT", "NINE"};
char *teens []={"TEN", "ELEVEN", "TWELVE","THIRTEEN", "FOURTEEN", "FIFTEEN", "SIXTEEN", "SEVENTEEN", "EIGHTEEN","NINETEEN" };
char *hundreds []= {"HUNDRED"};
char *tens []={ "ZERO", "TEN", "TWENTY", "THIRTY", "FOURTY", "FIFTY", "SIXTY", "SEVENTY", "EIGHTY", "NINETY"};

I am trying to read into a file that has something like
I have 5 apples and 9 bananas.
Sam has 8 apples and 6 bananas.
and I need to replace the numbers with words. For example I need to change the "5" to five and so on. The problem is that im not sure how to access and then replace just the numbers.
#include <iostream>
#include <cmath>
#include <fstream>
#include <cstdlib>
#include <iomanip>
using namespace std;
int main() {
ifstream in_stream;

scanning a file with both words and INT's/Float numbers. This is the file data here.
15 25 200
3 10
17.99 22.99 109.99
100 2 4
5.99 99.99 20.00 49.99
10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
3.99 5.99 7.99 8.00 5.00 5.00 5.00 6.00 7.00 9.99
[Code]...
What I'm focused on is reading in the first three numbers which I already have with fscanf and then reading in BUY TICKET with the digit afterwards. My problem is that I don't know how to reach that part of the file without scanning in something I don't want to. Also, how would I scan the number after scanning BUY TICKET? Would it be something like using %s and %d right afterwards?

I am trying to read user input for recipe ingredients which must include a ingredient name, and may include a quantity and a unit. Example: Stone ground flour 2 cups or Sugar 1 Tbsp or Milk. The problem I am having is that the string gets cut off after a space when multiple words are used for the ingredient name.
cin.ignore();
string line;
getline(cin, line);
istringstream record(line);
string name;
string name2;
int quantity = 0;
string unit;
record>>name>>quantity>>unit;

I've reached a point in "Jumping into C++" where I need to make a program that converts input numbers into their word equivalent.
So far I've made it work for numbers 0-9999. I've tried implementing 10000-99999 but there are problems with the order of the words printed (57865 would print fifty thousand seven thousand eight hundred sixty five). But besides that, the program is absolutely enormous (for me) and I'm wondering if it can be shortened. Keep in mind I can only use loops and if statements so far. Here it is:
Code:
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
void extras(int e);
void digits(int x);
void tens(int xx);
void hundreds(int xxx);
void thousands(int xxxx);
//void tens_of_thousands(long xxxxx);
[Code]....

I wrote a code that counts numbers of words in a sentence, simply by counting spaces... but instead of showing a true number it shows a wrong number.
#include <iostream.h>
#include <conio.h>
int check(char eh[10000]) {
int he=0;
for (int i=0; i<=10000 ;i++) {

I have a code able to import a file containing words and numbers to a linked list, but I also need to sort this linked list alphabetically. I've done research on this involving bubble sorting, but no explanationcan achieve this objective.
Below is the code that can only put the file into linked list:
Code:
#include<iostream>
#include<conio.h>
#include"U:C++WordClass2WordClass2WordClass.cpp"
#include<fstream>
#include<vector>
#include<string>
using namespace std;

I'm working on a program and I need to convert big numbers to radix 64. I would like to shorter them whit conversion that's why I choosed base 64. I have two problems:
1. The conversion works only for not so big numbers. Untill about 2^32. I would like to convert bigger numbers. Is there any solution? (I thought on GMP/MPIR library, but I can't managed it.)
2. The conversion back to decimal base doesn't works, because I use 'strtoul()' which doesn't support bigger bases like 36.
Is there any good method for that?

Here`s the text:
You have to expect the following input : an arbitrary amount of lines, each line consists of 5 int32 numbers. The full input will be terminated by an EOF.
E.g.:
1 2 3 4 5
6 7 8 9 0
...
You`re then supposed to convert the numbers to integers and do some calculations. I would know how to parse a single line of 5 numbers via scanf(). That`s easy, and that`s exactly what they did in class.
But how do i go about splitting the lines? What about the EOF? Even if could hack something together, by using errno or something, it would be way beyond what they are doing atm. The input is received via user input, ie stdin.

So I am trying to write a program that converts roman numerals into decimal numbers. I so far have come up with:
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <ctype.h> // importing the tolowerfunction
//variables
int decimal, total;
char numeral[];
[Code] .....
But each time I compile it, it times out as if it were hitting an infinite loop. I have a feeling that I am not passing an individual character to the roman_to_decimal function but am unsure why.

Having problem with my code. i keep getting an error towards the bottom of the code. i need the user to enter a word. and with that word convert it to numbers. once i have convert it if it is bigger than 20 i have to add the two digits together and get print out the array that response to it.
example" ALEX
A=1
L=12
E=5
X=23
1+12+5+23= 41 //since its bigger than 20 you add 4 and 1 together so it will be 5. after that you print the 5th element of array
#include <iomanip>
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
int main()
{
string name;

I have been playing around with .txt and .dat files lately. I only manage to load the files, but I don't seem to be able to load files using a variable.
Also modifying the data after it is imported is also currently problematic. I know how to go about the process without the need to import anything, but whenever I import the data I am having trouble modifying/ editing the ".txt" or ".dat" data.
Below is my current code:
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
using namespace std;
ifstream file;
ofstream result;
char in_file_name[8], out_file_name[8];

I am trying to make a program that will convert a list of binary numbers from a file into decimal and print the decimal to the screen. I have no problem doing the conversion, the problem comes up when our teacher wants the input file in a format as such:
3
10110101
11111111
10101010
The first number is supposed to tell the program how many different 8bit strings it is going to have to convert, and then the following lines are those binary numbers.
I am not very experienced with file inputs, and I know how to open files and read lines in.. The problem is, how to say "ok the first line says 3, so now I have to convert the next 3 lines" . I am assuming it is just a simple loop that I am missing....

I am creating a trie (not a tree but a trie). I have the following structure:
Code:
struct tnode {
bool is_word;
list *children;
};
struct trie {
int length;
struct tnode *first;
};
list *children is a linked list that contain pointers to tnodes. For example: I have a trie with the words cup and cut:
c
u
/
p t
Given the example above you have the following linked lists:
1. [c] that contains a pointer to linked list 2.
2. [u] that contains a pointer to linked list 3.
3. [p, t]
Now I want to print the trie like:
cut
cup
