C++ :: Class Template Convert Which Can Convert Itself To Any Data Type
Sep 23, 2012
Code:
template<class T>
class Convert {
T data;
public:
Convert(const T& tData = T()) : data(tData)
[Code] ....
Why do we use operator? Is float and double function names below?
Code:
Convert<int>::operator<float> float();
Convert<int>::operator<double> double();

I have encountered a problem with template class. I have made a template class that converts a value into a string, and then made another template class that converts string to T if its possible. Now I need to overload >> and << operators for type T.
template<typename T>
string toString (const T &value) // convert a value into a string {
ostringstream os;
//os << value;
return os.str();
[Code] ....

My intent was to convert the string variable for the year to an integer data type. The code compiles but now cannot run on my system. I'm not sure what's going as to what the program is displaying.
Objective: Prompt the user for two years. Print all Comedy movies that were released between those two years.
#include <iostream>
#include <cstdlib>
#include <string>
#include <fstream>
#include <cctype>
using namespace std;
struct Movie {
string name;

Let me put it into the code snippet:
/**
This class build the singleton design pattern.
Here you have full control over construction and deconstruction of the object.
*/
template<class T>
class Singleton
[Code]....
I am getting error at the assertion points when i call to the class as follows:
osgOpenCL::Context *cxt = osgOpenCL::Singleton<osgOpenCL::Context>::getPtr();
I tried commenting assertion statements and then the debugger just exits at the point where getPtr() is called.

I have a class "Result" with a single template function Set(const std::string& arName, T& val) and a specialization of this function Set<Real>(const std::string& arName, Real& val) where Real is a typedef for double. The class is in a shared library and I use it in my main program. If I do result->Set<GLOBAL::Real>("U", 100.0); the wrong template function is called!
I check this by the output with std::cout.
Maybe it's a problem with the typedef.
If I link the object file of the Result class directly to my main program (no shared library), it works.
typedefs.hpp:
namespace GLOBAL {
typedef double Real;
} results.hpp
#include <iostream>
[Code] ....

I have an xml file with an IM node, i serialize it and get the property like:
public ImAddressDictionary ImAddresses { get; set; }
And then set the value like this:
contact.ImAddresses[ImAddressKey.ImAddress1] = sImAddresses; where the sImAddresses is a string.
I then get this error:
cannot convert from 'Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ImAddressDictionary' to 'string'

I have attached the source code I am writing. I have been getting the two following errors. I know it's something to do with the pointer casting.
udp-server.c:174:3: error: subscripted value is neither array nor pointer nor vector
udp-server.c:165:3: error: cannot convert to a pointer type
The file is attached here.

So I query out data from multiple tables and I put it as anonymous type. But since I need to get the remove function going, my datagridview has to get datasource from a bindinglist, not just a list. What could I do from this situation? I already checked: [URL] but intellisense doesn't pick up the .ToBindingList() function for my query.

I am writing a program where I need to read a byte of char data and convert it into a text string of binary data that represents the hex value...
i.e. The char byte is 0x42 so I need a string that has 01000010 in it. I've written the following subroutine....
------------- My Subroutine ----------------------------------------------------------------------
void charbytetostring(char input, char *output){
int i, remainder;
char BASE=0x2;
int DIGITS=8;
char digitsArray[3] = "01";
[Code] ....
When I submitted the byte 0x42 to the subroutine, the subroutine returned to the output variable 01000010... Life is good.
The next byte that came in was 0x91. When I submit this to the subroutine I get garbage out.
I am using a debugger and stepped through the subroutine a line at a time. When I feed it 0x42 I get what I expect for all variables at all points in the execution.
When I submit 0x91 When the line remainder = input % BASE; gets executed the remainder variable gets set to 0xFFFF (I expected 1). Also, when the next line gets executed..
input = input / BASE; I get C9 where I expected to get 48.
My question is, are there data limits on what can be used with the mod (%) operator? Or am I doing something more fundamentally incorrect?

I am trying to pass a class as a type to a template class. This class's constructor needs an argument but I cannot find the correct syntax. Is it possible?
Here is an example of what I described above. I did not compiled it, it is for illustrative purpose only. And of course argument val of the myData constructor would be doing something more useful than simply initializing an int....
template <class T>
class templateClass {
templateClass() {};
[Code]....
My real code would only compile is I add the myData constructor:
myData () {};
and gdb confirmed that it is this constructor that get called, even with dummy(4).

is there a way to have a template class respond to missing stuff in a template type ?
Code:
template <typename Type>
class MyClass
{
public:
enum { ID = Type::ID }; // revert to 1 if Type::ID doesn't exist.
};
If the Type passed to the template has an ID member (required to be an enum or a static const int), use it, if it is missing revert to a default value.
I can use this as a simplified way of configuring how MyClass works, without requiring Type to explicitely needing to define what it doesn't care about.
It needs to be resolved at compiletime, as it determines the number of elements in member array variables.

20 40 20 25 30
20 30 40 20 25
20 40 20 25 30

I have to convert string to double. i'm using "atof" function to achieve same.
I have string as "0.0409434228722337" and i'm converting with "atof" But i'm getting double value as "0.040943422872233702". Why it adds 02 additionally at the end?
More example :
"0.0409434228722337" converts to "0.040943422872233702"
"0.067187778121134" converts to "0.067187778121133995"
Is there any other possibility to convert string to double without changing data ?

i am trying to create a firework display by reading in the fireworks off a .xml file, which will then iterate through and launch each firework.
I followed a tutorial on dinomage to find out how to use tinyxml, i learnt that i can store the attributes into char pointers but i dont know how to convert them to GLfloats to store them in my class variables.
I did try using atof but when i ran the program i got loads of errors which im guessing is because the pointer only stores the address which im passing to my variable.
Update
i have found out that tinyxml is not compatible with vs2010 but tinyxml 2 is, so i have changed my code but am still having trouble loading my attributes i have added error checking, and it prints out that the xml has loaded but then it wont load the root
updated code
my code: Firework.h
Code:
#ifndef FIREWORK_H
#define FIREWORK_H
#include <cstdlib>
#include <GLGL.h>
#include <string>
[Code].....
