C++ :: How To Convert Numbers To String
Sep 26, 2014
I'm trying to get two numbers longer than long long int and add them together and multiply. I'm not sure how to convert the numbers to a string.
#ifndef BIG_INTEGER_H
#define BIG_INTEGER_H
#include "BigIntegerException.h"
class BigInteger {
private:
int biginteger[500];
int bigintegertwo[500];

Ok, so I'm writing this code and when I build it keeps saying cannot implicitely convert type int to string even though I declared my variables as string. Why is it giving me this error?
private static string Repair()

heres the function:
string ToString ( const char * format, ... )
{
char buffer[256];
[Code]....
these function do the same of the sprintf() function. but instead we use a variable for add the result, i want to return the result. when i use it:
string f;
f=ToString("hello world");
gives me several errors:
"error: crosses initialization of 'std::string f'"
"error: jump to case label [-fpermissive]"

I am using Visual Studio 2008. I just wonder if there are any library function in Windows SDK or MFC, or from third-parties, that can convert a UTF-8 string into Windows Unicode string(used in CString object).
Can MultiByteToWideChar or ATL String conversion macro like A2W to the conversion?

How to convert numbers into words using ragged dynamic arrays? this is my solution:
int main()

char *Units[]={"ZERO", "ONE", "TWO", "THREE","FOUR","FIVE", "SIX","SEVEN", "EIGHT", "NINE"};
char *teens []={"TEN", "ELEVEN", "TWELVE","THIRTEEN", "FOURTEEN", "FIFTEEN", "SIXTEEN", "SEVENTEEN", "EIGHTEEN","NINETEEN" };
char *hundreds []= {"HUNDRED"};
char *tens []={ "ZERO", "TEN", "TWENTY", "THIRTY", "FOURTY", "FIFTY", "SIXTY", "SEVENTY", "EIGHTY", "NINETY"};

Write a c++program that asks the user to enter positive integer numbers without points between 0 and 999. Then check the amount and print in words. You need to use dynamic ragged arrays..
This is my solution but I'm not sure if this is the right way for dynamic ragged array???:
int main()
{
char *Units[]={"ZERO", "ONE", "TWO", "THREE","FOUR","FIVE", "SIX","SEVEN", "EIGHT", "NINE"};
char *teens []={"TEN", "ELEVEN", "TWELVE","THIRTEEN", "FOURTEEN", "FIFTEEN", "SIXTEEN", "SEVENTEEN", "EIGHTEEN","NINETEEN" };
char *hundreds []= {"HUNDRED"};
char *tens []={ "ZERO", "TEN", "TWENTY", "THIRTY", "FOURTY", "FIFTY", "SIXTY", "SEVENTY", "EIGHTY", "NINETY"};
[Code].....

I'm working on a program and I need to convert big numbers to radix 64. I would like to shorter them whit conversion that's why I choosed base 64. I have two problems:
1. The conversion works only for not so big numbers. Untill about 2^32. I would like to convert bigger numbers. Is there any solution? (I thought on GMP/MPIR library, but I can't managed it.)
2. The conversion back to decimal base doesn't works, because I use 'strtoul()' which doesn't support bigger bases like 36.
Is there any good method for that?

Here`s the text:
You have to expect the following input : an arbitrary amount of lines, each line consists of 5 int32 numbers. The full input will be terminated by an EOF.
E.g.:
1 2 3 4 5
6 7 8 9 0
...
You`re then supposed to convert the numbers to integers and do some calculations. I would know how to parse a single line of 5 numbers via scanf(). That`s easy, and that`s exactly what they did in class.
But how do i go about splitting the lines? What about the EOF? Even if could hack something together, by using errno or something, it would be way beyond what they are doing atm. The input is received via user input, ie stdin.

User enters sentence "The Smiths have two daughters, three sons, two cats and one dog." (The numbers may change depending on what the user chooses to enter. He told us the range would be from zero to nine.) and we have to convert the written numbers within the sentence into actual decimal numbers and print out the new sentence. Ex. The Smiths have 2 daughters, 3 sons...etc.
I have written the following bit of code which reads the string and finds all the "written numbers" but I am not sure how to proceed from there. I am stuck on how to print out the new sentence with the converted numbers as my professor mentioned something about creating the new string using dynamic memory allocation.
Code:
#include <stdio.h>#include <string.h>
int main () {
char A[100];
int length = 0;
int i;
[Code] .....

So I am trying to write a program that converts roman numerals into decimal numbers. I so far have come up with:
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <ctype.h> // importing the tolowerfunction
//variables
int decimal, total;
char numeral[];
[Code] .....
But each time I compile it, it times out as if it were hitting an infinite loop. I have a feeling that I am not passing an individual character to the roman_to_decimal function but am unsure why.

Having problem with my code. i keep getting an error towards the bottom of the code. i need the user to enter a word. and with that word convert it to numbers. once i have convert it if it is bigger than 20 i have to add the two digits together and get print out the array that response to it.
example" ALEX
A=1
L=12
E=5
X=23
1+12+5+23= 41 //since its bigger than 20 you add 4 and 1 together so it will be 5. after that you print the 5th element of array
#include <iomanip>
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
int main()
{
string name;
[Code]...

I have a fascination with Roman numerals and would like to create a C program that converts Roman numeral inputs to normal numbers.
I want to keep everything simple and only use the C library for the coding.

I have been playing around with .txt and .dat files lately. I only manage to load the files, but I don't seem to be able to load files using a variable.
Also modifying the data after it is imported is also currently problematic. I know how to go about the process without the need to import anything, but whenever I import the data I am having trouble modifying/ editing the ".txt" or ".dat" data.
Below is my current code:
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
using namespace std;
ifstream file;
ofstream result;
char in_file_name[8], out_file_name[8];
[Code] ....

I would like to convert a value into a string, and extract a value from a string. And then call these functions in the main.
template<class T>
string toString (T value) // convert a value into a string {
stringstream ss;
[Code[ .....
Are above functions correct? And how should I call in main?
int main() {
const int SIZE=10;
toString<int> intValue(SIZE); //seems not right
toString<double> doubleValue(SIZE); // seems not right
}

I am trying to make a program that will convert a list of binary numbers from a file into decimal and print the decimal to the screen. I have no problem doing the conversion, the problem comes up when our teacher wants the input file in a format as such:
3
10110101
11111111
10101010
The first number is supposed to tell the program how many different 8bit strings it is going to have to convert, and then the following lines are those binary numbers.
I am not very experienced with file inputs, and I know how to open files and read lines in.. The problem is, how to say "ok the first line says 3, so now I have to convert the next 3 lines" . I am assuming it is just a simple loop that I am missing....

This sends the buffer to a LIN modem. My question is: can this be done better. If I have a astring of hex numbers like "09 98 88 55 42 FF 00 00 FF BD 89". How could I send this without manually makng a char with hex numbers?

My teacher has done a very poor job of teaching us anything this year. When he taught us for loops, he wrote one on the board, didn't explain any of it, then said now that you know for loops we can implement them in a code. but anyway, we need to write a code for converting a string to an int and all the examples i find on the internet use pointers but we aren't allowed to use those yet.
