Nov 8, 2013This program works but i need to build an additional loop that will re-prompt a user if his initial entry (int y_n) is other than 'Y', 'y', 'N', 'n'. For instance if a user tries to enter 'Yup', he will be prompted "That isn't a valid entry" and then re-asked to enter int y_n.
Note: If user answers Y he is asked to enter a value that is entered into an array. If the user at any point answers N, the program ends and final stats are cout.

C++ :: Setting Entire Array To NULL
Dec 12, 2013Okay so I've declared an array like this.
Foo *Blocks[100][100][10000] = {0};
And as far as my understanding goes This creates an array with every member set to NULL.
And then later on in my code some of these get given values using:
Blocks[a][b][c] = new Foo;
And then when I want to unload I would think that I could just go
Blocks = {0};
But obviously this doesn't work.
So I was wondering if there was a way of doing This, with out creating a loop and changing every one to NULL manually.

Things sound like this: user inputs 6 integers program needs to check them if there are integer if not it has to output a message for the user if the input is integer it has to go further and work with the input. I have used this structure :

Jun 20, 2014I have been trying to make a very simply programme that checks if the inputted information is an integer or not (i.e: that it contains no other characters).
I have tried using the isdigit function (but this only works for single characters). I have tried cin.clear, cin.ignore (1000) but this doesn't work either..

Problem is, I'm only allowed to use stdio.h and stdlib.h. How can I accomplish this? Also, how would I check if any of the characters which were entered aren't either a number, letter, or '-'?

Jun 9, 2014How do I error check if the user is inputting letters and not numbers? For example, if the user inputs "Lab.txt" I need to display an error message. If they input "Lab2part2.txt" then this is correct and what I want.
I've found a lot of information online on how to error check for numbers or a single letter (EX: 1,2,3, etc. or 'A' 'B' 'C') but nothing for actual WORDS or maybe I should refer to it as a string of characters?
Is there any way to do this? Because my program requires I ask the user to input the name of the file. But the way my code is currently set up is even when the user inputs the wrong file name it still opens the file. I want to prevent this from happening so my thought was to error check user input.

C++ :: How To Protect Entire TMP Directory

My application is processing a large amount of data (approx. 50 - 100 GB of txt data). given the machine regular user usually has, my app is writing some tmp data into a local tmp directory. and this is working just fine until users get comfortable with my software and start changing that content of local tmp dir (while the program is running). which does not give any problems like crashing a program if handled at the right time but produces wrong results in the end. now this is not my problem but i would still like to somehow restrict users from even peeking into the tmp dir. I am just tired of getting emails saying my software is cr.... (maybe it is but i don't think it is because of that)
So is it possible to somehow encrypt the entire dir so that only the program has access to it . it would be even better if the dir could look as some encrypted index file so that when user sees the warning :
"tmp" may be a binary file. See it anyway?

Apr 7, 2014I can have at most 3 structs in array, but it could be 0,1,2 or 3 structs in array. I am trying to avoid dynamic memory allocation. I initialize sensors to 3 to reserve space for them in memory, since there may be at most 3 elements in the array. But I am testing a condition where there will only be 2 elements:

The problem is even though there are only 2 sensors out of 3 in the array, sizeof(sensors)/sizeof(sensors[0]) returns 3. I assume because when it allocates memory for 3, it includes that allocated memory even though it really doesn't contain the struct. How can I figure out how many elements were really inserted into array, not just allocated to array?

Nov 30, 2014I'll process the raw content of a stream which obviously will be loaded one chunk at a time into an buffer.I need to check if every chunk content is x00 filled. If it is, I'll increase the blank chunks counter of 1.On your personal opinion, which is the fastest an less cycles consuming manner to achieve such result?
I was wondering this: is it possible to make an instant XOR of all the buffer content to check if it does return 0 ?the only way is it to cycle through all the bytes and compare each one of them with 0?
