A class called 'sample' with the data a, b and c and two methods as defined below. Define a new member method 'term()' which calculates the value of the term (2b - 4ac) and displays it.
Define the method outside of the class definition. Write the main method to create an array of 2 objects called D of class 'sample' and display the values and find the solution to the term (2b - 4ac)

Problem: I keep getting error messages, here is a look at the ones i'm getting.
error: ISO C++ forbids declaration of 'cout' with no type.
error: expected ';' before '<<' token.
error: new types may not be defined in a return type
error: expected unqualified-id before '{' token.

it seems that I cannot define a method of an inner nested class if it is a private class. for example:
class outter {
class nested {
void foo ( void ) {} // okay - but is this inline?
} void inner::foo( void ) {} // not okay - cannot define inside another class
} void outter::inner::foo( void ) {} // not okay - 'nested' class is private!
what I want to know is, is there another way to define an inner class's method? and if not, is it eternally doomed to be inline because it has to be declared inside it's own class declaration?

For example, in a header file A.h, I define an abstract class,

How'd I initialize static member data _x?Normally, we initialize a static member data in a cpp file. However, there is not cpp file for A.h. If I intialize _x in header file, there will be linker errors like mulitple defined symbols. What is appropriate way to do that?

I am writing my program on C++ language. I have one promblem. I need to set signal handler for my process. As the signal is related with the process on system level I have faced the problem.
My program consists several classes. They are connected together. But it doesn't metter in this case. The problem is that I need to access to member and methods of the class from my signal handler. For instance , I have class named Foo at it has some members and methods.
So from my handler I need to call its function and change members.
I understand that compiler should know that this class instances will exist during all program execution.
I have tried to set static member class Foo instance in another class , but this didn't solve the problem.
What is correct approach to do this. How to correctly implement signal handling in such case.

The problem occurs in here, I get access violations, is there a way to this while keeping Display const or is this code valid and my problem is somewhere else and not being caught in the debugger? I tried to make the return types const - but that didn't work .....

We're assigned a project working with classes and fractions. My goal is to display a fraction in proper from based on 2 arguments passed to a class member function proper();
My strategy was to utilize the greatest common factor between the 2 arguements, then divide both the numerator and denominator by that number and then it would display.
The program actually runs, but only seems to divide the numerator and not the denominator. This in return makes my other class member functions have incorrect comparisons and sums.

I want to write an algorithm to find the kth term of a series given by the following recursive formula:
a_0=1 and a_(k+1)=a_k+1/k!
My code (part of it responsible for calculating the value of a series) does not want to compile:

I've been trying for more than one month to access a method found in a library called libcocosnas_static.a. I'm using Cocos2d-X version 2.0.4. The library has been used many times by my company to make games using cocos2d-1.0.1-x-0.12.0 without any problem.
This is what I've done:
1- I added the include paths of the library to both eclipse and Android.mk
2- Included the .h file using #include "NASPlatformUtil.h"
3- Added the libcocosnas_static.a file to the proj.androidobjlocalarmeabi folder
4- Added "LOCAL_WHOLE_STATIC_LIBRARIES += cocosnas_static" to the Android.mk file
5- Called the function using: NASPlatformUtil:: openUrl("http://xxx.xxx.com/");
I can right click on the function, click Open Declaration and get it without any problem, but the compiler keeps on giving me that dreaded error...

i'm implementing a templated function callback.
I get this error:
"error C2064: term does not evaluate to a function taking 1 arguments"
I'm not sure why.
Here's the code for the template function in the timer class header:

The first call of my function works with empty vectors but fails when dimensions are introduced to the vectors.
When "uncommented, the commented out function call fails with the error above.

I am currently learning "if statements" while doing a program that calculates the area of a triangle. My problem is that the result is always "0". I am pretty sure the problem lies within my math, but how I have set it up wrong.

I have a question similar to the one here: [URL] .....
The main difference is I would like to pass a method of derived class as a parameter to some other method in its template base class.

The above is an example which does not compile. My compiler complains that the two BaseMethod() calls in DerivedMethod() are invalid uses of non-static member function.
Is this not possible to do, or is my syntax simply wrong? All I want is to be able to pass as an an argument to a method in the base class from the derived class some callback as a variable for the base class to invoke later.

I am trying to create a program that calculates fraction of time remaining when a student leaves during the middle of the semester. I have to use function files here. I am having trouble with the division in function long double tuitionfrac(int, int, int). No matter what numbers are entered, fractime gives an output of 0. I don't understand that.

I am working on a program that calculates the average of a list of test scores entered, with the list ended with a negative score (which is not calculated), as long as a user enters a name.
