C/C++ :: Calculating Change From A Purchase Program?
Dec 30, 2014
the problem and my code is at the bottom, the thing is when i checked out what my change was, it was it was like -14.23 which is werid.
Write a program that determines the change that the user should receive after having paid for their purchase. Your program
prompts the user for the number of items purchased
accepts the number of items purchased
prompts the user for the unit price of each item
accepts the unit price of each item
calculates the total purchase price, including HST
outputs the total purchase price
prompts the user for the cash tendered
accepts the amount of cash tendered
calculates the change owed to the user
outputs the number of loonies in the change
outputs the number of cents in the change
You may assume that the user enters valid amounts and tenders enough cash to cover the total purchase price.
The output from your program looks something like:
Enter the number of items : 4
Enter the unit price : 3.15
Purchase price 12.60
HST (13%) 1.64
Total price 14.24
Cash tendered 20.00
Change loonies 5
Change cents 76

I started to learn programming through this site two weeks or so ago. I've got a book with exercices and so on, and one of them involves calculating e within a tolerance given by the user.
The formula for calculating e is the summation of 1+(1/i!), where i -> n.
So, here's the code and I'll explain the problem below:
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
int main()
{
float error;
float terme;
float sumatori = 0;
int cicle_euler = 1;
int factorial;
[Code]...
For some reason, when I set factorial to cicle_factorial, factorial remains 0, which I find puzzling; the program always halts when 1 + sumatori is 2.0 no matter what error is.
This must be a common problem and I suspect it has to do with some distinction between variables inside a loop and variables outside it, but as I lack technical vocabulary I can't seem to find anything on Google.

I am getting this weird error when calculating sums. Here is what my program does: it generates two random numbers and then randomly puts either an addition or subtraction sign between the two and then I am asked to enter what the correct answer for that question is. But on some of the subtraction questions when I give the answer it says I got it wrong after which the program shows the right answer. What's confusing is that the answer the computer calculates is the same that I entered. Anyways the complete program and a screenshot of the console window which shows the error are below. The function in question here is decAddSub at line 54. The error is shown in the first sum in the output window. It doesn't affect addition problems and only affects some of the subtraction problems.
#include<iostream>
#include<stdlib.h>
#include<time.h>
#include<random>

I am having trouble calculating the median and mode in a program that I am writing. When I run the program, lets say there are 5 students being surveyed. The input is as follows, Student #1 sees 2 movies, student #2 sees 6,student #3 sees 5 movies, student #4 sees 2 movies, and student #5 sees 1 movie. However, for the median, I get 5, because that is at element 2, and thus midway through the count, so the program interprets that number as the median. For the mode, even though 5 is repeated twice, the program displays that there was no mode, or displays "-1" (indicating no mode). Here is my code:
Write a program that can be used to gather statistical data about the number of movies college students see in a month. The program should perform the following steps:
A) Ask the user how many students were surveyed. An array of integers with this many elements then be dynamically allocated.
B)/> Allow the user to enter the number of movies each student saw into the array.
C) Calculate and display the average, median, and mode of the values entered.
Input Validation: Do not accept negative numbers for input.
#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>
using namespace std;
// Function prototypes
double calculateMean(int *, int);
double calculateMedian(int *, int);
int calculateMode(int *, int);

Alright so I'm in a computer programming class and I was given the following problem..Write a problem that takes an integer value and multiplies each of the digits together. 4 digit numbers only.
IE; What number do you want to process? 2684
Starting number 2684
End result 384
I know how to start the begging of the program, but i dont understand how to have it to where you can type in all four digits and then it will multiply each number by the other. Also, what are some ways to change the color scheme of the program? I know how it works using CMD, but in Visual C++ its totally different aha.

My coin/money change code works when there can be an exact change each time, i.e. when the 1 cent option is available. However, when the change options are only $10, $5, $1, 25 cents and 10 cents, it does not give me what I want for instance, I wanted to get change for $237.80, I was expecting to get:
23 10's, one 5, two 1's and 8 dimes. However, the code below is giving me 23 10's, one 5, two 1's and 3 quarters (there is no option left for the 5 remaining cents).how to fix it?
Code:
#include<iostream>
#include<algorithm>
#include<vector>
using namespace std;
void change(double cents, int a[]);
int main() {
double Dollars;
double cents;

I have a program that makes change from an amount. It works fine, but the output is the correct output looped over and over. I have tried everything, but it still doesn't work. For example, a amount of 98 should print
3 quarters
2 dimes
0 nickles
3 pennies
but instead it prints
3 quarters
2 dimes
0 nickels
3 pennies
0 quarters
2 dimes
0 nickels
3 pennies
0 quarters
2 dimes
0 nickels
3 pennies
Why it's doing this?
Code:
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int coinscount(int& amount, int value) {
int tracker = 0;
int amountdimes = amount;

I am having trouble with my C++ program. My program asks the user to enter any number greater than 0 and less than 20, and if the user enters any number(s) outside the acceptable range, the output should display:
input outside of exceptable range > 0 and < 20
length: 1 width: 1 area: 1 perimeter: 1

I have a problem with calculating the CPUtime. I am using CPLEX to solve linear programming with 3 diferent algorithms.
1-primal Simplex
2-Dual Simplex
3-Barrier Method.
When I am trying to use Barrier method, my clock does not give me a right processing time. I don't have any problem with the other two methods. The value I am getting from ticks2 is 0 when I am using Barrier solver unlike the two other methods that I am getting some small values (ticks1 is fine). Using time_t ticks1 , ticks2 and time(&ticks1) and finally difftime(ticks1,ticks2) also gives me an integer number which is not precise enough. I need a way to compute cputime with accuracy of at least 2 decimals.
clock_t ticks1,ticks2;
double solvingtime
if (solver.primopt==1){
ticks1=clock();
status=CPXprimopt(myEnv, myLP);
ticks2=clock();

Write a program to compute average grades for a course. The course records are in a single file and are organized according to the following format: Each line contains a student's first name, then one space, then the student's last name, then one space, then some number of quiz scores that, if they exist, are separated by one space. Each student will have zero to ten scores, and each score is an integer not greater than 100. Your program will read data from this file and write its output to a second file. The data in the output file will be nearly the same as the data in the input file except that you will print the names as last_name, first_name and there will be one additional number at the end of each line: the average of the student's ten quiz scores.
The output file must be formatted such that first and last names appear together in a left justified column that is 20 characters wide where the last name comes first, then a comma and a space and then the first name. Use your read string function to read each name separately and then put them together into a larger correctly formatted string before trying to output them. Each quiz score should be listed in a right justified column that is 4 characters wide, and the average should appear in its own right justified column that is 10 characters wide.
Note that if a student has fewer than 10 scores, the average is still the sum of the quiz scores divided by 10; these students are assumed to have missed one or more of the quizzes. The output file should contain a line (or lines) at the beginning of the file providing appropriate column headings.
This is how much I have so far:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <ctype.h>
char* read_string(char* buffer, int max_size, FILE* fp);
int main(int argc, char *argv[]) {
FILE *fp_input, *fp_output;
