I have 2 c++ libraries called "Lib1" and "Lib2". Both libraries have same class called "Total.h and Total.cpp"

I want to access lib1 class in lib2. since it has same class (i.e same header file), i couldn't refer lib1's members in lib2.

Lib 1 :

Total.h :
class Total {
public:
static void Test(double);

C++ :: SDL Library - Access To Pixel Data

Mar 7, 2013

I am using the SDL library, and came across a way to access pixel data.

//A pointer to a surface structure

SDL_Surface *w = SDL_SetVideoMode(800,400,8,SDL_SWSURFACE);

//Casting a void pointer pointing to an array of memory locations(the pixels), to a pointer to an array of Uint8's.
//SDL_MapRGB() Returns an Uint32 containing the color 0,0,255,(0/255, i think it returns the transparency too, or else it would rather return a Uint24,not sure).

Then modifying the memory location, in this case the pixel at the middle of the window.

static_cast<Uint8*>(w->pixels)[(200*w->pitch)+400]=SDL_MapRGB(w->format,0,0,255);

What i seem to not understand is that, i cast pixels to Uint8*, which means I now have a pointer to an array of 8bit numbers, but SDL_MapRGB seemingly returns an Uint32 or Uint24 for a color composed of r,g,b, together without 'a' is 24bits(256=1b,256=1b,256=1b)=3b.

And then i somehow assign that pixel which is of 8bit at chosen location, an Uint24 or 32bit unsigned int.

How does this work?

C++ :: Xcode 4 Not Compiling?

Mar 20, 2012

I'm taking an intro to c++ class and during an exercise I ran into multiple errors that are out of my knowledge to fix. The rest of the class is using Visual and that is all the instructor knows so i'm in my own figuring out Xcode. Basically I wrote the same program twice but one has a different struct and I get all sorts of errors with it. understand what the errors are and why they occurred.

The working program is this:

#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <iomanip>
#include <cmath>
using namespace std;
struct point {
public:
double x1,y1;
double x2,y2;

[code]....

This program does not compile and I get the following errors:

stl_iterator_base_types.h

1) Symantic Issue
No type named 'value_type' in 'myPoint'
2) Symantic Issue
No type named 'iterator_category in 'myPoint'
3) Symantic Issue
No type named 'difference_type' in 'myPoint'
4) Symantic Issue
No type named 'pointer' in 'myPoint'
5) Symantic Issue
No type named 'reference' in 'myPoint'

Why does one work and the other doesn't!?

C/C++ :: Reading From A File In Xcode

Mar 18, 2014

typedef struct dvdtype{
int dvdcode;
char title[50];
int customerID;

[Code]....

i am trying to write this program about a dvd club...i have functions that insert,delete,rent,print movies..I also have to make 2 other functions..Save to file and load from file..My function for saving to file is exactly the same as the one i posted except instead of "r" i put "w" and fprintf for fscanf and fgets..So my function for saving works ok...(in xcode i have to use the full path of a file) but this one does not work...If i call the function from the main menu it does not print Error neither does it say that there is something else wrong...When i gave the number 6 for example to call the function,afterwards it is like the program is waiting for me to give number or characters..it is like using scanf...I write anything and press enter and nothing happens ,it is like asking for data again..i give some numbers or letters and press enter for 5 or 4 times and it displays the menu and asks to choose what to do again, as if nothing happened ,without printing the values that are inside the file..

However, the current problem is that once one code finishes, its terminal window automatically closed and I do not have time to look at its result. Thus computer time is wasted. Is there a way to run multiple same c++ code with different arguments input?

C++ :: SDL2 Framework - Loading MBP Files In Same Folder In XCode 5

Feb 23, 2014

I am trying to load a .bmp file located in the same folder as main.cpp etc. but I'm not sure what to input as the resource path so that it picks it up and, when I distribute it, I want it to be preferably cross platform and run smoothly.

I have tried using:

hello_world.bmp
SDL_Game/hello_world.bmp (SDL_Game is the name of the project)

but it will work if I use the full path. I don't want to do this though, because then it will not work on other computers and platforms.

This is the function I use to load media:

bool loadMedia() {
// Loading success flag
bool success = true;

// Load splash image
gHelloWorld = SDL_LoadBMP("hello_world.bmp");

[Code] ....

I am using XCode 5, SDL2.0.1, OSX 10.9 Mavericks and C++.

C++ :: Shared Library Vs Static Library?

Jan 17, 2014

I've been reading about libraries; How to make them, how to use them, the different types of libraries, etc..

When using a shared library, does the program require that library to be installed on the computer after the program has been compiled into an .exe?

Ie.. if somebody downloaded a "Helloworld.exe" that I had compiled on my computer using a shared library (that wasn't part of a standard operating system), would they also need that shared library on their computer for the program to run without errors?

and for Static Libraries, when I compile a program using a static library, does it include in the final binary only the functions of the library that are actually used, or does the compiler add in the entire library?

C++ :: Using A Library Function?

May 9, 2013

I have been trying to find a way around the following:

I am using a library functor to solve the root of a non linear equation. It passes two doubles and the name of a function that contains the equation to be solved.

Its xtor and operator are

RootFind(double tL,double tR,double (*fn)(double t));

void operator()(double tL,doubleR,double (*fn)(double t));

I want to be able to send another variable to function fn; I don't know what the value of the variable will be ahead of time.

How do I get the library functor to take an extra variable in the function passed?

C++ :: UDP Socket Library On Linux

Jan 29, 2014

I'm attempting to write a little UDP socket library in c++ on linux so a user can just create a new instance of a UDPSocket class, specify destination ip and port, and just connect. Then the user should be able to call send() or receive() in any order they want.. and here I encounter a little problem..

Most of the tutorials for udp socket sending out there include a bind() call when you create your "server" that is supposed to receive data, but the code that send data does not need one. Because I also want my library to support unicast/broadcast/multicast, I have read that I need to set the socket option SO_REUSEADDR on my sockets (since multiple sockets will need to be connected to same destination IP/port for broadcast/multicast)

My question is.. do I need to create 2 socket handles per "UDPSocke in order to make this work? One for sending and one for receiving data? In my code when I try to work with only 1 socket, it is only able to receive stuff from itself on unicast.. Or should I just remove the SO_REUSEADDR when in unicast mode, then try to bind with both sockets, accept that the bind will only work on the 1st socket, and take it from there?

C :: Creating A Library Function

Jan 27, 2015

I want to create a C library function that i can directly call in my code from any .c file having main program.following are codes...code of library function "foo.c"

Code:

#include "foo.h"
int foo(int x) /* Function definition */ {
return x + 5;
} header file "foo.h"

Code:

#ifndef FOO_H_ /* Include guard */
#define FOO_H_
int foo(int x); /* An example function declaration */
}

[code]....

to use this i have to compile the file in below manner...

Code: gcc -o my_app main.c foo.c

My concern here is that i want to compile the main.c and use function without compiling foo.c with i.e.

Code: gcc -o my_app main.c

any user of this function should only compile his program and should be able to use the function, the foo.c file should remain hidden from him

my system is Linux 2.6.18-308.4.1.el5 #1 SMP Wed Mar 28 01:54:56 EDT 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

C :: Static Library Linking

Oct 7, 2014

I am trying to refresh my memory here as I did some studies many years ago but the results elude me.Also todays c/c++ compilers may have better optimizations.Say I have a static library that includes three obj modules.Each of these object modules has a number of functions. These functions do not reference any other functions within the obj module.My main app links this library but only references one function from each of the object modules.

Question: Are the complete contents of each module linked into my main app or are todays linkers smart enough to just link the functions used?

C++ :: List Library - How To Traverse Through A And B

Aug 22, 2013

I'm trying to make a list that contains other lists. I want to use the <list> library /not my own implementation/. Here is what I do:

list<list<int>> Lists; //I create the main list
list<int> A, B; //Then I create the other lists
//After I fill them with data I add them to the main list
Lists.push_back(A);
Lists.push_back(B);

The problem comes when I try to go through A and B. I make an iterator of the main list:

list<list<int>> Iter = Lists.begin();

Then I need to make an iterator to traverse through A and B. But I can't make it. I do this:

list<int> Iter2 = Iter.begin() //But the compiler says it is not possible

How can I traverse through A and B?
