C++ :: Add Value To Beginning (left Hand Side) Of String

May 19, 2013

How do you add a value to the beginning of a string instead of the end?

This is for an assignment and I have to convert the user input (always assuming its a valid decimal number) to binary and store it in a string. I've got up to dividing by two to get the remainder ...

Visual C++ :: CDialogBar Moves Content (other Windows) In MDI Application When Docked At Left Side

Feb 19, 2013

I have a question concerning the CDialogBar (:CControlBar).

I have a MDI application with a dockable toolbox (CDialogBar).

The user is able/allowed to move the DialogBar and to dock it at the right or left side When I dock at the left side, the content of my mdi-application (so all other open windows) are moved right (so the dockable bar moves the windows).

If i dock at the right side, nothing changes.

How can I change the behaviour of the bar, that the windows inside the application keep the same position when I dock left ?

(Problem is, that my windows are aligned on the right side of the application). When I dock the bar on the left, the windows are getting moved in the not visible area.)

C/C++ :: Program That Scores Blackjack Hand?

Jun 5, 2014

Write a program that scores a blackjack hand. In blackjack, a player receives from two to five cards. The cards 2 through 10 are scored as 2 through 10 points each. The face cards - jack, queen, and king are scored as 10 points. The goal is to come as close to a score of 21 as possible without going over 21. Hence, any score over 21 is called "busted". The ace can count as either 1 or 11, whichever is better for the user. For example, and ace and a 10 can be scored as either 11 or 21. Since 21 is a better score, this hand is scored as 21. An ace and two 8s can be scored as either 17 or 27. Since 27 is a "busted" score, this hand is scored as 17.

The user is asked how many cards she or he has, and the user responds with one of the integers 2,3,4, or 5. The user is then asked for the card values. Card values are 2 through 10, jack, queen, king, and ace. A good way to hande input is to use the type char so that the card input 2, for example, is read as the character '2', rather than as the number 2. Input the values 2 through 9 as the characters '2' through '9'. Input the values 10, jack, queen, king, and ace as the characters 't', 'j', 'q', 'k', and 'a'. (Of course, the user does not type in the single quotes.) Be sure to allow upper - as well as lowercase letters as input.

After reading in the values, the program should convert them from character values to numeric card scores, taking special care for aces. The output is either a number between 2 and 21 (inclusive) or the word Busted. Use fucntions, multiway branches, switch statements or nested if-else statements. Your program should include a loop that lets the user repeat the calculation until they are done doing so.

The code runs properly for the first card but then it asks if the user wishes to repest the program. I need to claculate the value of all cards before it asks for that. Here is my code:

#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main()
{

C++ :: Can Be Used For Server Side Programming

Nov 28, 2013

I know this question must have been asked before, but the problem that I am facing is that I am using a library PoDoFo to parse PDF files. It seems that it is only compatible with C++.

Now I want the application to be web-based. That is, the user uploads a PDF file on the server, the server parses it and the parsed content is then sent back to the user.

Is such a thing possible with C++, or maybe any good work-arounds? Or should I look at server-side scripting languages like PHP and their respective libraries?

C++ :: 2D Side Scroll Game - Background Is Not Working Right

Dec 30, 2013

I am working on a 2D side scroller game. Where a ball is moving continuously towards right . I used a camera to follow the ball as soon as ball reaches the center of screen. I created a horizontal line to look like the surface on which the ball is rolling.

line runs from x=0 to x=800 (i.e screen width)

NOTE: (0,0) coordinate is at top left corner of display.

Problem: My display is 800 x 400 . Camera follows the ball, but soon the ball crosses x=800 and starts moving in black background. I want that line surface to stay there instead of going out of bound.

Additionally! I generated obstacles from x=800 which also move out of bound along with my line.

What should be done here? This is just my first c++ game project, so i might be skipping things that can solve the issue.

[Update] these screenshots manage to show, what the real problem is: [URL]

C :: How Strtok Will Work In Beginning

Nov 28, 2013

Assuming that we have the string :

Code:
***HELLO&SIR. & and * is the delimiters.

My question is how strtok will work in the beginning?

According to this to determine the beginning and the end of a token, the function first scans from the starting location for the first character not contained in delimiters (which becomes the beginning of the token). And then scans starting from this beginning of the token for the first character contained in delimiters, which becomes the end of the token. The scan also stops if the terminating null character is found.

This end of the token is automatically replaced by a null-character, and the beginning of the token is returned by the function. strtok will replace the first * with '' and the next call will start from the second * puts '' there and again the same with the third * ?

C :: How To Loop Back To The Beginning Of Function

Oct 11, 2014

I am writing another program and I cannot find for the life of me how to loop the program back to the start of a function.

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
int main(void) {
int choice;
char band1, band2, band3, band4;
printf ("This program calculates the resistor value based on the colours of the wire.
(enter the integer near the command)
");
printf ("What would you like to do?

[Code].....

This is my current iteration of the program. Obviously, I haven't finished writing the case 1 of the first switch, but for the other ones. I thought that return main would cause the program to loop back to the beginning after executing the case, but I see that it is not the case (pun not intended). Anyways, what would I have to insert to cause the program to loop again (other than for case 3)? And another question, why is it that in scanf in the first case, the program only accepts two characters before finishing?
