I am maintaining a legacy VC++ 6 project.
When I use SHBrowseForFolder I can retrieve a PIDL of the selected folder and with this PIDL I can get the path with SHGetPathFromIDList.
Now, given a path to a folder, I want to retrieve its PIDL. How can I do it? I tried SHParseDisplayName() but seems that function is unsupported in VC++ 6.0
I want to retrieve the records selected between from_dt and to_dt and also the records of the selected date should be retrieved...

I am not getting all the records.... when i select the same date in both datetimepicker no record is displayed... i also want the record of the selected dates from both datetime picker..

I used to retrieve IP and NIC information by querying windows registry. Now I'm trying to use GetAdapterAddresses() API. Using GetAdapterAddresses() to get IP is not that easy, I need to dig a long deep as I check some examples so far, anyways my question is: Calling this API will return success on all versions of Windows ie: 32bits & 64bits ?
Though Microsoft has not opened any source, where this API is actually retrieving Windows IP information.?. Is it reading Registry or some windows file.

But how do I retrieve that size? I have a pointer to an empty image list. The size was set during creation, but that's out of my control.

If the end-user clicks "No", SHFileOperation return 0x4c7, which I believe is ERROR_CANCELLED.
My question is, if I don't need any UI, how can I know that my file/folder will be permanently deleted vs. placed into the Recycle Bin?

For example, I have logon windows with domainuser1, and run the following command as:
runas /profile /env /user:domainuser2 C:WindowsSystem32calc.exe
And then the Calculator is shown in domainuser1 desktop, but the process is running in domainuser2 account.
When running Spy++ (either wither domainuser1 or domainuser2) to view the calculator window, the Windoe Proc field is shown 'Unavailable' I also try to call GetWindowLong against this window, it will always returns NULL.
I am just wondering if it is possible to retrieve the Window Proc of the window running in a process of another account, is is possible?

I found one batch file script but it renaming with numbers only. But i want differntly.

In a folder there are 100 images and all numbered with some digits or names.
assume that all images are belongs to "john" , so i want to rename all images with "john+ a random string".
here a random string means -> it has an array with 3000 english words, (you can predefine them by downloading from dictonary).
In the script the 3000 names are fixed, but the 1st name will be changed by my wish. that my be john, mary, sai, pavan etc...
Suggestion: you do not need to enter all 3000 words in array manually. some javscript codes are there to read input of each and evey line and them into an array.

I have a secnario where I have few tab controls one ineide the other, where my real tab pages containing the data are 4 level deep. This entire structure is dynamically built from a data base.
Now I have a tick event, on whice I want to update the data in the currently selected tabpage.
How can I find it, recall that I have many tab controls, each has a tabpage with another tab control an so forth...
Two ideas I had in mind, I though I caould generate a list of all my data TabPages and itterate it, but I failed to find an indicator of the selected tab.
Another idea was to track the currently selected tabpage via an event, but I feared that I might miss somehow the track and my update the wrong tab page.
Last idea was really unelegant - Look at the main control, get the selected tab page, find the tab control on that page via searching its controls, than find this control selected page, and do the same until I reach the 4th level.
In c89/90 is there a way to retrieve a pointer from stack or whatever that would behave as this would once cast to the correct type? This is more of a curiosity than a requirement.

I want to see if it is possible to retrieve data from this device. To be honest, I don't even know if it's possible, but I would love to give it a whack.
I looked into making INF files and things Microsoft has put out, but I honestly don't know where to start simply because I have absolutely no experience doing this. I have a program set up to organize the data and such, I just need to find a way to actually get it.

I have no code written up yet (mainly because I don't know where to start). But I looked into the device a little...Microsoft recognizes it as a "Fingerprint Scanner" but is still considered unrecognized.I have the USB identifier (at work right now, don't have it on hand)...

I'm trying to find an event for the combobox when its selected value changes , but I can't seem to find the right one since I've tried several events in the dataGridView that are just triggering at the wrong moments. I need to remove the selected item from that combobox so that it doesn't get selected again at the second combobox which usually have the same items .
