C :: Maintain List Of Variables Inside Source File

Apr 24, 2013

I'm about to begin work on an exercise that requires me to maintain a list of the variables inside a c source file. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to pluck out the variable names from all the other noise. My first thought would be to count any word that isn't a keyword or other type of grammar syntax, such as parenthesis, brackets, semicolons, etc. right?

Apr 11, 2014

I want to maintain a list. which will update at regular interval. so I thought to with linked list. Earlier I have used linked list.

Code:

typedef struct
{
short nwkaddr;
unsigned char macaddress[8];
}device_t;
}

[code]....

This program is giving many errors. I tried lot to fix it. If I fix one then other bug is arising. for that I did't mentioned what bug i got.Main Issue is while (curr->next->list != NULL) this is giving segmentation fault if i add element second time

C++ :: Trying To Add Template Class To Maintain List

May 12, 2013

I wrote this menu-driven program that maintains a list of restaurants. The program runs fine as it is right now, but my problem is I need to create a new array template class to maintain the list of restaurants, and when a new restaurant is added it must be created dynamically.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what exactly I need to do for this. Templates confuse me allot and I've read all the sections on templates here and in my book, but i'm still lost. The dynamic memory part is throwing me off as well.

main.pp

#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#include <iomanip>
#include "Restaurant.h"

[Code]....

Restaurant.h

#pragma once
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#include "FTime.h"
using namespace std;

[Code]....

Restaurant.cpp

#include "Restaurant.h"
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#include <iomanip>
#include <sstream>
using namespace std;

[Code]...

FTime.h

#pragram once
#include <string>
using namespace std;
//class FTime
class FTime {
friend ostream& operator<<(ostream& out, const FTime& obj);

Assignment on Linked List : Write a program that maintains student academic records using a linked list. The data structure is to be implemented as an array of structures. The fields of the structure are as follows:

• Student ID - this should be unique

• Last name

• First name

• Middle initial

• Course

• QPA

• Address

The program shall be menu driven. This means that the actions that the user can do with the program is govern by choosing an option. The menu shall look like this:

Student Records

1. Add student Academic Record

2. Edit student first name

3. Delete student record

4. View student record (by last name)

5. View all student records

6. Exit

For the edit and delete, the search value should be the student ID. What's lacking on my codes is for the 3rd option. What should I must do with it? These are my codes

#include<stdio.h>
#include<conio.h>
#include<string.h>
#include<stdlib.h>
#define M 10

C++ :: File IO Inside A Class - No Instance Of Overloaded Function Getline Matches Argument List

Jan 24, 2012

Hey I am trying to use the getline() function to read a line from a file. For some reason Visual Studio 2010 gives me the following error. "No instance of overloaded function "getline" matches the argument list". The piece of code that produces the error is in a class in a separate .h file and is executed as a method of the object. I'm almost certain it has something to do with either the compiler thinking I am calling another getline in a different namespace or my parameters for the function are incorrect. Here is the code:

Code:
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#include <vector>
#include <fstream>
using namespace std;

C :: Uninitialized Variables Inside A Structure

Aug 7, 2013

Let me say I have a structure

Code:
struct time{
char hours;
char minutes;
char seconds;
char dummy;
};

I have kept dummy as the data to be aligned.I will update hours, minutes, and seconds , but will not use dummy in any case. If I don't initialize 'dummy' does it make any errors ? Do I need to initialize hours, minutes, seconds as well before I use the structure ? If so is there any particular reason ?

C++ :: Accessing Classes Member Variables Nested Inside Another Class

Feb 22, 2013

I have two classes, a Package class and a Person class. The Package class has two Person objects has member variables, a Sender and a Receiver. While overloading the << operator for the Package class so that it will make an output label from everything in the Package class. Here is my code...

class Package{
public:
Person Sender;
Person Reciever;
int weight;
double cost;
friend ostream &operator<<(ostream &out, Package &pack);

[Code] .....

So my problem is on that last output line, I am unable to call Sender.getName()... etc. Is there a proper syntax so that I can access the members of the Person class while overloading the << operator for the Package class?

I was going through a code where i found the definition of int array[63] in one of the source files. But i also found the declaration as extern int array[66] in another source file. This is clearly wrong, but my doubt is how the compiler compiled it. It should have thrown error. In case if it compiles then what will be the behavior of the system? Will it be normal or some undefined behavior?

C++ :: Making Exe File From Source Code?

Sep 4, 2013

I use a programming language called layout which nobody here has probably ever heard of. It was discontinued over 15 years years ago but it was a very visual & easy to use piece of software - no coding required. In fact once you name all the variables on cards (forms) from then on it's just mouse clicking & occassionaly typing a number if required. It used blackboxes in a flowchart arrangement which were pre-done code for doing just about anything. i.e opening windows, handling numbers & text, files etc. I have written many programs with it including database management, quoting software & currently use it in my business to track my jobs & do invoicing & ordering. It's a pity it wasn't updated & still around today.

[URL]

Back to the problem. Being a 16 bit program it was written to run on Windows 3.1 but still works on Windows 7!! as long as it is the 32 bit version. I need to write a program that will run on 64 bit W7 without resorting to using a virtual PC solution. I have tried to find something similar that I might be able to use instead but so far nothing comes close to Layout. I just remembered today that layout can produce not only .exe programs but also various versions of C/C++ including visual c++. So I got this idea that if I could get those files I might be able to stick them into a C compiler program to re-make a "modern" exe file.

I could just do a simple sample program & send the source code to them to see if it works on a 64 bit version of Windows 7. how I can do this myself to produce a working exe file.

C/C++ :: Program To Copy A File From Source And Paste With Different Name

Mar 6, 2014

I have written a program that copies a file from the source and pastes it there (same location), but with a different name. The program works fine, except there is a small bug that i can't seem to fix. Here is the code:

/*
This program copies a file from the current directory and pastes it to the same directory, but with a different name. The file name form the source must include the extension as well.
*/

#include <stdio.h>
#include <conio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
int main() {
char temp, s_file[100], d_file[100],

[Code] ....

This is the flow:

> 1) Enter the name of the file you'd like to copy (Must be from the current directory)
> A: 3.c // This depends if the file exists in the
> current directory
>
> 2) Enter the name of the destination file (The file will be copied to the same directory)
> A: 4 //The extension isn't necessary here
>
> Result: The file was copied successfully!

When I run the prg again, and this time input a file name with no extension, like this:

> Enter the name of the file you'd like to copy (Must be from the current directory)
> 3
> You did not enter a valid text. Press "?" to get help or "x" to exit.

I hit "?" and it takes me to

> 1. The file must be from the current directory)
> 2. The location mustn't be empty

Then it asks me

> Try again? (Y/N)

If i give N, it exits. BUT if I give Y, it goes, like this:

> Enter the name of the file you'd like to copy (Must be from the current directory)
> You did not enter a valid text. Press "?" to get help or "x" to exit.

You see, it doesn't give me the option to give it the file name..

Header files : Calculate.h , Average.h

I knew in general, we have to include Average.h to project header file Calculate.h to make it as part of project.

technical difference between adding header file (Average.h) to either project header file (Calculate.h) or project source file (Calculate.cpp) ?

I found no difference in an output. But, there must be technical difference.

C++ :: Program To Maintain Database - Name And Birthday

Oct 16, 2014

Write a program that maintains a database containing data, such as name and birthday, about your friends and relatives. You should be able to enter, remove, modify, or search this data. Initially, you can assume that the names are unique. The program should be able to save the data in a fi le for use later.

Design a class to represent the database and another class to represent the people. Use a binary search tree of people as a data member of the database class. You can enhance this problem by adding an operation that lists everyone who satisfies a given criterion.

For example, you could list people born in a given month. You should also be able to list everyone in the database.
