C++ :: How To Count Character Occurrence In Array
Jan 17, 2015
i have a problem i cant find a way to count how many times a character occur in a character array the out put should be
a=2
b=1
but my output is
a=2
b=1
a=0
i cant find away to get rid of the other a letter i dont know what to do
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main() {
char array[3] = {'a','b','a'};
char frequency[26] ={'a','b','c','d','e','f','g','h','i','j','k','l','m','n','o','p','q','r','s','t','u','v','w','x','y','z'};

#include<string>
[Code].....
I also need to do a loop that scan the count array and check if the element is bigger than the previous one.

I must count the number of occurrence of all numbers in array , i wrote a code but it does not work properly
#include <iostream>
int main (){
int i,n,tmp,counter=0;
std::cout<<"Enter the size of the array:"<<std::endl;
std::cin>>n;

I have a binary Tree and I have to count how often the character 'e' appears in it. Then I have to print it Inorder.
My code:
#include<stdio.h>
#include<stdlib.h>
struct node {
struct node *left;
struct node *right;
char chr;
[Code] ....
But I always get the Error Message "expected ';' ',' '.' or ')' befor numeric constant in this line:
struct node *mkNode(char chr, struct node *1, struct node *r)

I have an assigment to make program which deletes from sentence all words with character count which is equal to pair number , for example - [ I like C ] and the result of this program should be [I C] because the word like contains 4 characters which is pair and it should be removed.
So I started writing my program and I am stuck at this block of code -
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
main () {
char text[100], blank[100];
int c=0,d=0,i,j;
gets(text);
[Code] ....
To explain what is happening - I go through all string and search for first ' ' space symbol and check its value. If it is pair then my program prints that it is not pair[because last character before space had not pair number of characters], but the hardest part comes in when i have two not pair words , because space takes one character and now when i check if i%2 == 1 the answer is false [0] for the second word .

I have
#define LessSymbol -1
#define MoreSymbol 1
#define NeitherSymbol 0
#define MAX_COLS 20
#define MAX_ROWS 20
#define MAX_CHAR 3
char averageMap[MAX_ROWS][MAX_COLS];
char rowCount[MAX_ROWS][MAX_CHAR];
char colCount[MAX_COLS][MAX_CHAR];
I have other stuff in the code, but basicly, at this stage i have a map of 1's,-1's and 0's in a 20 x 20 map. I just want to count the occurrences of each and basicly tally them in the 3 colums/rows at the end of the bloc. so far ive tried many different if statements, here is what i tried last.
for(row = 0; row < MAX_ROWS; row++){
rowCount[row][0]=0;
rowCount[row][1]=0;
rowCount[row][2]=0;
} for(col = 0; col < MAX_COLS; col++){
[Code] ....
Its outputting 20 as a result for each row. Its like its counting the symbol no matter what it is.

My C programming class wants us to write a program to read integers into an array, sort the numbers and print out the occurrence of each number. I've tried everything that I can think of but the core dump is still occurring.
void countValues ( FILE *inf, int list[], int size ); /* Function prototypes. */
void printFrequencies( const int list[], int size );
int main (void) {
int status = EXIT_SUCCESS; /* defaulting status to success. */
FILE *inf = fopen( "numbers.txt", "r" ); /* input data file */
[Code] .....

4.1 Write a program that will count from 1 to 12 and print the count, and its square, for each count.
4.2 Write a program that counts from 1 to 12 and prints the count and its inversion to 5 decimal places for each count. This will require a floating point number.
4.3 Write a program that will count from 1 to 100 and print only those values between 32 and 39, one to a line. Use the incrementing operator for this program.

The program should store a character array in reverse order then display the reversed array. I have also included in the code that will display the actual characters into the array as it loops through. So I know the characters are being stored, but why doesn't it display the entire string when I call it?
Code:
#include<stdio.h>
int main(){
char str[50];
char rev[50];
printf("Enter Desired Text: ");
scanf ("%[^
[Code] ....
Is it just my compiler?

iam trying to count the same numbers in an array just once like
38
38
40
38
40
37
the output should be 2 since 38 is repeated and 40 too but for my code the output is 3 thats an example of how it should be in a nutshell i want same number to be counted just once in the whole array
and here's my code :
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main(){

So I already gave this a go and will post my code below. The question is about the last loop before the program cout's. i thought the count would keep track of the repeated numbers so i could display them but it does not. I italicized the loop i am referring to. or at least i tried to xD
#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>
using namespace std;
int main() {
int inputs[30];
int numofloops;
int maxvalue = inputs[0];

I am currently having an issue with validating user input for a state abbreviation. I have an array where a list of abbreviations is stored to use as a comparison for whatever the user inputs. I have been able to get the list loaded properly but whenever i go to compare, it always comes back as true even if it isn't. Here is some relevant code:
static char stateTable[STATE_TABLE_SIZE][STATE_SIZE];
int main() {
char buffer[40], *testCustName[40], testState[5], testCode;
buffer[0] = '
