C Sharp :: Updating String Values Into Custom Data Xml Field

I have a variable named Authors. Sometimes I will insert one author into the database, sometimes more than one author will be inserted into the database.
The page that performs the update is a .cs page. Here is the layout:

This definitely works for updating one author's name:
if (old.Author != Author) RequestItem.UpdateField(LibraryDocID, Editor, "Author", Author);
I just can not nail down how to insert a string of author's names.

The file name is "movie.dat" and currently i was able to save data into the file in this order:
[movie_code] [movie_dur] [movie_title] [movie_rating] [movie_dir] [movie_genre] [movie_status]
[12345] [120] [Movie] [PG13] [Director] [Comedy] [Active]
I want to search for the "movie_code" and change the [movie_status] from Active to Inactive.
So lets say for example i have a movie code 12345 saved in my movie file. I want to change the value from "Active" to "Inactive"for argument sake.
This is the code i was trying to do it with:

I just wanna update my database with one click only.
I do for update my database from datagridview1 but it shows a error like this :
Unhandled exception has occurred in your application . If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit,the application will close immediately.
Update requires a valid UpdateCommand when passed DataRow collection with modified rows

I am developing 1 desktop application to my friend office,in that application i can store multiple images and i can retrieve the information for the same..My issue here is after retrieving the information when i click on update button I'm getting runtime exception i.e (Empty path is not legal exception)..

I retrieve a null value from a nullable sql datacolumn but when I pull it into a property it automatically gets the current datetime.
How will I go about making sure that this value returns a null and not the currentdatetime.

I have this class:
class Excuse

When I run it, I do get the messagebox popping up with the correct description, but then nothing happens. When I debug, I see the fields under the UpdateForm() method are set to null.
I'm guessing this happening because it is looking at the 'currentExcuse' that was declared in the form body. I thought however that redeclaring 'currentExcuse' in the method would overwrite this instance or am I wrong?
Do I need an array to make this work?

I would like to fill a combobox with particular field for example if i have atable with fields such as CustID, CustName, CustAge.

I am writing a program that manages a group of tool bins. This group is handled as an object that is an array of two element structures called InvBin. I initialize the bins with data from a file which contains the descriptions and initial quantities. I also have functions to add or subtract items from a bin and a function to display a report of the description and quantity of all of the bins.
The add and remove functions work correctly based on the cout statement in the functions, however when I display the report, it displays the initial quantity instead of the new quantity. In addition, when I use the add and remove functions again on the same bin, they use the initial quantity.
These are the add and remove functions and the report function from the main program.

This code is working totally fine. Right now, I'm trying to update a specific data from the student info. Let's say I'm trying to update my student number of Daniel. So, in this case, I want to replace 6744590 to some other student number. I think I have to use fseek() or rewind() and use fputs() but, I don't know how I should decide where to look.

How to write a C or C++ program that extracts certain numbers out of a section after the 4, 5 and 6 space.
For Example:
The output file will produce:

So I want to extract the numbers 0.650000, 0.006000, 0.020000 because those are the 4,5,6 space after [ [
Another problem I have is that the output file I showed will always being updated constantly for instance as follow:

And it will keep updating like this and I want to update the previous numbers I extracted with now the new numbers after the 4,5, and 6 space.
So I have to write a code to let it know when it encounters [ [ start looking for the 4,5,6 space and get those numbers and once it reaches ;... that's the end of that section so re-look for the next section of numbers after the 4,5,6 space.
The file will be a text file or matlab file that is always being updated with these sections of numbers. Can I make this a #include<nameoffile.h> or does .h not work with a file that is always being updated.

I have a problem I am working on where I need to sort some data based on the values of a string of bits. The strings look like this,
010000001110000000
there are 18 bits, 1 means a feature is present, 0 means the feature is absent.
Each of these string has 4 on bits. I need to sort them such that I have the longest possible runs with 3 of the same on bits. It doesn't matter which 3 bits are on, I am just looking to order them in blocks with the longest possible runs. As a second step, the ordered blocks will be sorted by size large>small.
The following data is ordered like I need it to be.

This is the sort order that I am looking for. I need to be able to take a list of the bit strings in any particular order and sort them into the order above. The algorithm would need to recognize that there are 4 on keys and then look for groupings of three common on keys.
This is more of an algorithm question than one about specific implementation in code. I generally assume that most programming problems have been solved one way or another, so I don't know much about analyzing and manipulating strings of bits.
Is there a standard method for this kind of pattern recognition?

I am writing some code that takes a string of n letters, so a, or aa or aaa or aaaa...a and transforms these into d or dd or ddd or dddd...d by essentially counting. e.g aaaa -> aaab -> aaac -> aaad -> aaba and so on. Also technically the user inputs what the ending is whether it be d or e,f,g; however, for practical reasons counting up to dddd should work. My main issue is I am having trouble getting the letters correct. I get up to aadd and then once I go to abaa I have trouble getting the second to last a to switch correctly.

So I have this class

However, I'm getting the field initializer error on dBase.con. I'm not sure why, but when I call the database from another file (program.cs) it works fine this way.

I have an ms access database with 2 tables in it which I named Customers and Products. I am using visual studio 2010, in my windows form I have 4 textboxes and 3 button in it, for my 1st textbox when I entered one of my ProductCode such as 10111, then press the Display button, the other remaining 3 textboxes should populate and display the following;
ProductID: CH001
ProductName: Chocolate Strawberry
ProductCode: 10111
Then the 2 remaining button named NEXT and PREVIOUS, should be able to display all my product name with 10111 product code.

I am trying to work with C# and i am stuck here. My problem is i want to retrieve the count of all the users in a specific side. Let me Explain. Here is my table snapshot with sample data.
Now what i want exactly is that i get the count of users in a specific side as i give a user id as a parameter.The data is stored in MS Sql Database and i have to implement this on a website so efficiency of code is also a issue.

I am grabbing data from three entities and want to grab a field value in each of the entites and place it in an arraylist. What I would like to do is loop through the arraylist for all the values and do something for each value only once. If the value in the array list is repeated, I want to not do anything for it and continue till the end. Basically, I loop through all the values do something for each value and skip over the repeated value if I already did something.
