C++ :: Random Puzzles - Adding Objects To Unordered Map

I am trying to solve some random puzzles so I do not lose/forget c++. I never used hashtables in C++ and decided I needed to brush up. I am having in creating a hashmap that holds objects with a string as a key:

Code:

C++ :: Adding Two Objects Of Class (Matrix)

Feb 13, 2013

I am trying to add matrices a and b. I am getting an error in the "add" function, probably because I have m[i] in it, and m is not an array. What is the correct way of writing the "add" member function here?

Also, although the "read" and "write" member functions of the class are working just fine, do you think there is a better way of writing them?

Code:
#include <iostream>
#include <cmath>
#include <iomanip>
using namespace std;
const int rows=3;
const int columns=3;

C++ :: Random Numbers - Declare Two Objects And Get Different Vector

Oct 13, 2013

I just created an object who store a vector of size 7 with random numbers between 1 and 36. If i declare two objects i get different vector, but running many times the program i always get the same vectors . For example, if i declare one object, even if i run any time the program, i always get the same numbers.

I am using the function

num= rand()%36+1,

wasn't it supposed to generate randoms numbers?

C++ :: Unordered Map With Class Data

Aug 27, 2013

I'm trying to make an unordered_map with a key of std::string and a data type of my own class, "Variable". This is my code that I've done:

#include <iostream>
#include <sstream>
#include <string>
#include <unordered_map>
class Variable { // The class that I want to have as data type
public:
Variable(double value) : _value(value) {}

[Code] .....

This code works just fine when I use double instead of "Variable", but the moment I put in the class "Variable" instead it gives my this massive error:

(cut for clarity)main.cpp|25|error: conversion from 'std::_Hashtable<std::basic_string<char>, std::pair<const std::basic_string<char>, Variable>, std::allocator<std::pair<const std::basic_string<char>, Variable> >, std::_Select1st<std::pair<const std::basic_string<char>, Variable> >, std::equal_to<std::basic_string<char> >, std::hash<std::basic_string<char> >, std::__detail::_Mod_range_hashing, std::__detail::_Default_ranged_hash, std::__detail::_Prime_rehash_policy, true, false, true>::_Insert_Return_Type {aka std::pair<std::__detail|

What actually the code doing?

_pin_cmp[_Pins[_num_pins]->get_name ()] = _Pins[_num_pins]; //performance profiling

I am not familiar with unordered_map which still can use with array[].I am confuse unordered_map just need key and value why will have array[]?

Visual C++ :: Lstbox Counter - Loop Through Unordered List

I am trying to make a basic app that will loop through an unordered list with repeats and count how many times a specific item repeats. Example would be I select a state from the list box and it will tell me how many times it is listed.

This is the code I have up so far, trying to keep it basic. I am missing something, something related to the counter? I think I have some of the better half up but I am not sure...

Code:
Private Sub ListBox1_SelectedIndexChanged(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles lstBox.SelectedIndexChanged

C/C++ :: Objects Hold References To Other Objects?

Nov 12, 2014

This has been bothering me for a while now, and I finally put together an example:

#include <iostream>
#include <string>
using namespace::std;

[Code]....

In the code above, the two classes hold pointers to each other, and that's fine but it doesn't seem right since C++ prefers to pass by reference. Yes, it can still do that (see testbox and testball) but even that seems odd to me because still you need to use pointer notation for the enclosed object. Am I the only one who feels this way, and should I just get over it? Or am I missing something that would allow an object to hold a reference?

C++ :: Why Are Random Values Not Very Random

Nov 26, 2014

I've been working on a little experiment, here is the source: [URL]

The problem that I keep running into is when I run the initPop and generate an individual object, the genome of the next individual is _exactly_ the same as the previous one... which confuses me... Shouldn't each individual be randomly different from the one that preceded it? What am I not right when it comes to generating random values?

(Write a program that provides the option of tallying up the results of a poll with 3 possible values. The first input to the program is the poll question; the next three inputs are the possible answers. The first answer is indicated by 1, the second by 2, the third by 3. The answers are tallied until a 0 is entered. The program should then show the results of the poll—try making a bar graph that shows the results properly scaled to fit on your screen no matter how many results were entered.)

C :: Adding New Functions

Jul 3, 2014

I am new to c and I have come across a problem when adding other functions to a programme and printing the values. The question I am attempting to solve is :

The following function computes ex by summing the Taylor series expansion to n terms. Write a program to print a table of ex using both this function and the exp() function from the math.h library, for x = 0 to 1 in steps of 0.1. The program should ask the user what value of n to use.

double taylor(double x, int n) {
int i;
double sum = 1.0;
double term = 1.0;
for (i=1; i<=n; i++) {
/*Or we could have written: */
term = term * x / i; /* term *= x / i; */
sum = sum + term; /* sum += term; */
}
return sum;
}

My code is

Code:

#include<stdio.h>
#include<stdlib.h>
#include<math.h>
/*Taylor series for e*/

[code]....

code prints out the values for exp, but it gets stuck in the Taylor function and I'm not sure how to solve it.

C :: Adding Two Matrix Using Malloc

Mar 3, 2015

This is my code without malloc. I need to change the array size so there is no max size for each matrix. I must dynamically allocate space for all arrays used. So I need to use malloc to create my arrays. So I cant use int A[rows][cols].

Code:

/* This program asks the user for 2 matrices called A and B, as integers, and displays their sum, C. The max dimension of each matrix is 100. */
#include<stdio.h>
// Construct function
void construct()
{
int m, n, i, j;// Variables
int first[100][100], second[100][100], sum[100][100];// Matrices variables

[Code]...

Im having a hard time understanding/using malloc. Should first, second, and sum be single pointers or double? How do I scan the matrix correctly? And how do I add them properly? Do I have to change my for loops?

Code:

/* This program asks the user for 2 matrices called A and B, as integers, and displays their sum, C. The max dimension of each matrix is 100. */
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
// Construct function

C :: Seg Fault When Adding To List

Apr 3, 2013

I am currently working on a program and Originally I was to create a bash program to extra information from youtube and create a table of users, views, titles, duration, etc. (I sent each to a txt file)..Then I was to create a C program to use the extracted information. In this case Users and read in the conents of user.txt and construct a linked list to hold the information. Then print from the Linked list.I managed to do that,

Code:

#include<stdio.h>
#include<stdlib.h>
#include<string.h>
#define LINE_LENGTH 100
void build_a_lst(), print_a_line(), print_lst();
void insert_at_end();
}

[code]...

What I have to do now is start reading in The other files and construct a table. And radix sort it by views. But to get to the radix sort part I get stuck on reading in all the files correctly and having the linked list hold them. I keep getting seg faults when I change my code.
