C++ :: Moving 2D Array Inside 2D Array

Mar 19, 2013

URL.....Now, I am trying to model "light" inside the world[20][20] char array by using a char light[4][4] which only opens up the map in enclosed in the light area of effect. In this case 4x4. I have tried quite a few things, including 4Darrays, but nothing comes close. Essentially, I want to be able to move the light[][] array freely inside the world[][] array centered at some arbitrary point.

C++ :: Multidimensional Array - Moving Whole Int Array Row As A Single Unit?

Feb 27, 2013

I have a multidimensional array that runs parallel with a string array

Lincoln 120 300 400
Parks 100 500 250
Shakespeare 0 30 50
Ghandi 250 100 40
Ashe 300 50 175
Rodriguez 87 118 320
Curie 284 0 112

I need to sort this and I know how to do it. But I need to sort it again with the highest value in the first row and keep all information in that row paired with the name . So

Lincoln 120 300 400
Parks 100 500 250

Parks 100 500 250
Lincoln 120 300 400

I need so swap this whole rows. I'm using dynamic array. So my question is Do I have to do a bunch of temps to move them? Or is there a way to move the whole int array row as a single unit?

C++ :: Moving The Head Of Array

Mar 19, 2014

Basically, my function receives an array. For example:

u8 array = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5}

I don't need the first 2 elements, how can I access the array's 3rd element as head? I plan to throw the received array to another function.

array = array[2];
somefunc(array);

Will somefunc get index 2 as start of the array?

C :: Pointer To A Char Inside Array

Jun 7, 2013

Alright, so I have a code that's not giving me errors, but it doesn't seem to retain what I put into an array. Not sure If I'm missing something...

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
int main (void)
{
const char *pointer;
const char alphabet[] = "ABCDEFG";

pointer = &alphabet[5];
printf("pointing to %c of the alphabet
", pointer);
return 0;
}

Trying to get my pointer to return the letter in the [5] spot or "F". Not receiving any errors when compiling, but I seem to get different answers every time I run it.

C++ :: Function Pointers Inside Array

Apr 6, 2014

Ive recently got into function pointers, i find that they can be quite handy for making your program very 'dynamic'.

However, the syntax is very confusing for what i want to do
This is what i want to do

I want to hold function pointers inside an array, but this array is dynamically allocated ( malloc, realloc, etc )

This is the current syntax ive come up with, but i dont think it is correct

void ( **drawFunc ) ( void*, SDL_Surface* );

int lights[MAX_LIGHTS];

I keep getting the error " this.lights[i] is not a struct or class and so you cannot use '.' " on line 34.

How am I supposed to define my lights[] array? I can't modify anything except directly after each comment block.

v[1]=2;
v[2]=3;
v[3]=4;

C# :: Fibonacci Series - Adding Value In Array Inside While Loop

May 27, 2014

I am making a program to run Fibonacci series. I have created 2 array.

1)- 1st array holds only 0, 1
2)- 2nd array holds other values eg: 1, 2, 3, 5..........etc

I am using while loop to get the febonacci series and storing it in a 2nd array called int[] numbers.

After getting value using while loop, I am joing both the arrays using int[] final = arr.Concat(number).ToArray();

At last, I have used foreach loop to add the febonacci series into the listbox.

The problem I have is that, I cannot able to concat both the arrays. I tried to assign number array at the top of the while loop. so that number variable will be accessible outside the while loop. But I am getting a error.

See the code below

using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.ComponentModel;
using System.Data;
using System.Drawing;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using System.Windows.Forms;

C :: Linear Search Script - Calling Array Inside Of User Defined Function?

Jul 24, 2013

im tasked with creating a linear search script using functions on a 10 element array. the elements are to be supplied by the user as is the search target.

I understand how to create the array and gather that information from the user as well as howto set a variable for "target", this is what im calling it. Those two parts are simple enough.

I am not fully understanding the calling of an array in a function as a pointer. i semi understand the use of a pointer and howto call a normal pointer in a function. i also understand that an array is nothing more then a "special" pointer with a set of consecutive address blocks for the size of the array.

My first user defined function is simple enough

Code:
ReadArray(int A[], int size){
int i;
printf("Please enter %d integer numbers separated by spaces:
", size);
for (i = 0; i < size; i++)
scanf("%d", &A[i]);
}

Sso nothing out of the ordinary there. that should be a standard for loop and use of scanf, sadly prof has not covered ssanf or any of the other options so i am stuck using scanf for now. maybe someday down the line in a other program or after this course ill get the chance to learn about better options for gathering data from the user.

I am confused as to my next function:

Code:
void SearchArray(int A[], int target, int size);

I've not written any code here yet as im not sure if i should call the A[], or *A for the first type of the function?

If i call *A do i then use something like this for my search:

Code:
for (*A = 0; *A < size; *A++)
if (*A < target) or use A[] insteadA?

Code:
for (i = 0; i < size; i++)
if (A[i] = target)
