C :: How To Simply Input CSV File Into Universal Variable 2D Array

Mar 6, 2015

I am working in an assignment and part of this assignment is to input a CSV file with floats such as this:

8.5, 10.5, 90.5
49.5, 99 ,97
88, 70, 100
78, 2, 10

into an universal variable array.I just want to figure out a way to simply input the CSV file into a 2D variable array.The values in the array will be later use in functions that I'm trying to figure out but I can't do that until I store these values in the array. I think is just a matter of figuring out how to tell fscanf to ommit spaces and commas, but I don't know how. This is what I have done

Code:
#include<stdio.h>
#include<stdlib.h>
#include<math.h>
float grades[1001][101];
int main(int argc, char* argv[]){

[Code] ....

The output is this

Assignment 1 of student 1 = 8.5 Assignment 2 of student 1 = 10.5 Assignment 3 of student 1 = 0.0 Assignment 1 of student 2 = 90.5

I think I'm close to solve it but something is missing the output should look like this

Assignment 1 of student 1 = 8.5 Assignment 2 of student 1 = 10.5 Assignment 3 of student 1 = 90.5 Assignment 1 of student 2 = 49.5

C :: User Input Variable To Global Array

Oct 11, 2013

I am trying to create a global array with user-defined dimensions.the code is:

Code:

int matr_size()
{
int x = 0;
printf("Please enter the number of nodes: ");
scanf( "%d", &x);
printf("There are %d nodes in this simulation.", x);
getchar();
return x;
}

[code]....

I read that an array cannot be defined by a variable in C so I assume that is the issue, but I'm not sure how else to do it. Previously the size was defined by #define NODES and it worked fine but I need this user input.

C# :: Create Line Chart That Will Be Universal For Every Currency

Dec 30, 2014

I need to create a line chart that will be universal for every currency. As Y it will display value of currency, as X it will display time when that value was established.

For drawing I think of using Windows.UI.Xaml.Shapes.Line and Windows.UI.Xaml.Controls.Canvas

What I want to get is something like image below but it would have to draw correctly scaled chart for every currency which is the biggest problem(I think it is).

For every currency I will probably have to get minimal and maximal value which will be used to properly scale a chart(I will probably also have to get rendersize of canvas or something).

The user will choose the range of time and then the correct chart must be drawn (For example 04-11-2004 to 11-03-2007)

It is a windows store project.

C++ :: Universal Order / Spacing Of Character Encoding For Integer Digits?

Feb 7, 2012

I have a char *pch that points to an integer digit 1 or 2 or ... 9. To get the character that's 1 less, instead of converting to int, minus 1, then converting back to char, I tried (*pch -1) and that seemed to work. I suppose that's because the particular character encoding on my system is such that the digits are encoded in the same order and spacing as the integers they represent. So the question is does this "convenience" feature hold true for all character encoding systems?

C :: File Input Into Array

Oct 26, 2013

I am reading in a file where each line contains two octal numbers separated by a comma (and perhaps a whitespace). I would like to read these lines into a two dimensional array. So for example

E19, 2A4
9423, F15

would be Code: {{E19, 2A4},{9423, F15}}

Is there a way to check how many lines are in the file so I could initialize my array to the proper length? How would I obtain an octal number with more than one character? So get would grab a single character, but how would I grab however many characters prior to the comma as a single value?

C++ :: Loading Object Array From Input File?

Oct 13, 2014

I'm struggling loading a class (and it's two derived classes) from an input file. I'm trying to create an array of class objects (and derived objects) and then load them based upon what is in the file.

Main class: Code: class Book
{
protected:
string sTitle;

[Code].....

Basically if the getline get's a P it's supposed to create a new object using the PrintedBook derived class and then store it to an array, if the getline get's to the "A" it's supposed to create an AudioBook object.

What I'm struggling with is writing something to parse the file line by line and create the objects on the fly and then store them into the array.

C/C++ :: How To Put Characters To Array And Compare To File Input

Mar 17, 2015

I am trying to generate possible combinations of 4 lower case letters from aaaa - zzzz. The words will then be used against a file that contains encrypted passwords that each relate to a 4 lower case word. I have successfully generated the words. Now all i need to do is put the created words (aaaa, aaab, etc...) to an array so I can use crypt((array[i+1]), buff) and print the encrypted 4 letters that come from the file. I am having a lot of trouble complete this though.

New problems that are occurring

The main problem is in the all function and main. I'm not wanting to print the aaaa, aaab, aaac, etc to the screen but I want to put it in an char array so that i can compare each individually to each line from the file using crypt. How to put all 456976 combinations into an array, compare it to each line of code, and print the solutions to the screen.

I'm having issues trying to input data from a .txt file into my array program. The whole program takes the name, # of goals and assists, adds them together to get points, and then puts in a given + or - rating. The program works except for the data input.

Also, this is an alphabetical "Unsorted" list, but is there a way to order the list based on point value and be able to display that as well as a separate "Ordered" list?

C++ :: Incrementing Values In Vector Based On Variable Input

Mar 24, 2014

I'm trying to increment the values in a vector, not the vector size, based on variable input. Basically I have a vector of size 10, and all of its values are initialized at zero. The program counts the frequency of numbers 0-9 in a four digit user input. This is what I have (I want it to work so badly but the compiler says that I'm using a pointer to a function used in arithmetic):

for (int i=0; i < num_slots; ++i) {

I just want to know if you can increment values within a vector:

to
1 0 0 0 2 0 0 1 0 0
