C++ :: Read Input From User And Then Store In Structure Variable
Apr 6, 2014
My program is designed to read input from the user and then store that input in a structure variable. Whenever i use the cin.getline() function, it comes up with a semantic issue. Here is the code:
I created a class (let call it X) which contains the structure to store the data from my data base. Them I have a class (call Y) which will contain a list for each row in my data base. Third, I have a class with thousands variables (Z). What I am trying to do is to take the list of objects (Y) that contains the data to initialize Z. What I want to now if I can do something like that.
Imaging that one of my rows contain the following data: Type Nameofvariable etc... "static const double; MNFAIL ; 0; 0; 0,25"
In my list I have a node with contain this data
I want to use the field Nameofvariable to initialize the variable called MNFAIL contained in my class Z.
I want to store the address of a customer (with spaces) in a char variable (say cadd). First I tried to use "cin", as we know it reads until it sees any whitespace. So it reads only first word before a white space. So, I used "getline()" function, it will work. But when I used it, It did'nt wait for the I/P (it skipped it).
Read the input file of data ( employees.txt) and store them in arrays. This company can have up to 55 employees [b]i need to do these following in these program:
Write a function to read the input file and store the data in arrays. Write a function to calculate regular pay. Write a function to calculate overtime pay Write a function to calculate gross pay. Write a function to bubble sort the employees into order by last name, first name. Write any swap functions that are needed. Write a function to write output to a file called payroll.txt
Format of file is EMPLOYEES.TXT[/b]
Hours Pay Rate Employee Number First Name Last name 40.0 10.00 A1234 Jane Adams 50.0 10.00 L8765 Mary Lincoln 25.5 10.85 W7654 Martha Washington 52.0 15.75 A9876 John Adams 45.0 25.00 W1235 George Washington 40.25 55.00 L9087 Abraham Lincoln 30.0 9.75 T9876 William Tell 42.5 12.50 M7654 Missy Muffett 30.0 10.00 P8765 Peter Piper
1) declare a variable ptr as a pointer to int and initialize it to NULL 2) dynamically allocate memory for an array of 100 elements 3) read 100 elements from the standard input device and store them in the array.
This is what I have so far, I'd like to know if its ok or if something is wrong.
int *ptr = NULL; ptr = new int[100]; cin >> dataPtr [arr];
I'm coding a hangman game. I'm trying to store user entries so i can output them to show the user what they have already entered. Problem is that it's not display anything at all.
I'm trying to store multiple characters of course, and then display all characters stored.
I'm trying to make a c++ program of this but i don't know how to use the bubble sorting.
Write a C++ application that asks the user to enter 10 numbers. The program then stores those numbers in an Array. The program should display the Mean , Median, and Mode.
Mean is the average of the 10 numbers. Median is the average of the 5th and the 6th numbers. (But you have to arrange the numbers in ascending order first using Bubble Sort before calculating the Median.) Mode is the most frequent number among the 10 numbers.
I'm having trouble trying to save a variable from an input of the user. Then use it when i start up another .exe.
If it makes any difference I am using dev c++. I'm using the input as an a or b so some one will put a for english or b for spanish. after that I want to use that info in another if statement of another .exe.
I am trying to create a global array with user-defined dimensions.the code is:
Code:
int matr_size() { int x = 0; printf("Please enter the number of nodes: "); scanf( "%d", &x); printf("There are %d nodes in this simulation.", x); getchar(); return x; }
[code]....
I read that an array cannot be defined by a variable in C so I assume that is the issue, but I'm not sure how else to do it. Previously the size was defined by #define NODES and it worked fine but I need this user input.
It's a tic-tac-toe program. I haven't finished doing everything I need to for the project, I'm just trying to get certain parts working as I go.
Anyway, my problem: The program will print the board and ask the first player which square they want to mark. Then it will print the updated board, print the question for the second player to input their square choice but not actually stop to let the user enter anything. Instead it prints the board again and then prints the question for player one again -- this time stopping to let them type in their choice.
Here's my code:
#include <stdio.h> // Function prototypes void printBoard(char board[3][3]); int main() { int quit = 0; // Loop so game continues until player quits
[Code] .....
And it looks like this when I run it, as an example:
I'm having a problem with the two while statements in my UDF.
- 1. It will run both while loops twice...?
- 2. It now goes into a continuous loop.
- 3. When it did work, it would only return 1 value to the main()...?
#include <iostream> // for use of "cin" & "cout", endl... #include <iomanip> // for formatting setw function #include <cmath> // for the general math computations #include <string> // for creating descriptive strings #include <sstream> // used to convert a string to an integer //user defined function int userValue (int);
I'm trying to code a program to read the user's input and have it:
-count vowels -stop counting vowels after '.' or '?' (ie. abcdjwef is 1 a, 1 e; while fje.fwdfeiii is just 1 e) -closes when ENTER is pressed after a '.' or '?' is found (ie. closes after 'abacds. ENTER' as well as 'as.fefsdf ENTER') -display the number of vowels
Is there any way to do this with only 'cin >> userInput' and a while loop checking for punctuation?
I have to create a program that incorporates an array of structures in order to simply read input from the user and then reprint that information to the screen. This is a fairly simple problem, but the issue is that the professor requires that we solve it in a very specific way.
I must have three functions in total: one to receive input from the user, one to print the received values, and of course the main function which calls the other two. Also, the input and output functions must be defined using the following prototypes:
typedef struct// Component { float cost; int code; char name[30];
[Code] ....
I know that this problem could be easily solved by simply passing the entire 'comp' array to the inputData function, or passing a pointer to it, or having it return a pointer, but I am not allowed to do any of these things. I must use the function as defined by the prototype.
I am having trouble compiling my interface. I am trying to store a reference variable as a member variable of the interface object. Compiler says that the variable has not be initiated correctly.
LCD inherits from VisualInterface which is expecting a DisplayDriver object to be passed in (DisplayDriver is another interface, but thats not important).
I pass the displayDriver object in when LCD is instantiated in maininterfaces.zip
I was pasing it before as a pointer but was told that this could cause me problems with memory leaks and a reference was better, but now I cant seem to get it to compile.
I want to store few different functions to a variable for different structs/classes and then call it later using that variable, is it possible? something like
struct item { int ID; int special; // for function };
item Key; Key.special = UseKey(KEY_KING);
// now when I want to call function "UseKey(KEY_KING)" I want to use "Key.special", like this
I'm reading through a data structure textbook. I'm doing the part of Linked list. here's the code from the textbook:I'm not clear with pointer.what I'm confused is that the code created a pointer to the structure (*NodePtr)
Q1. Is NodePtr store the address of the structure?? Q2. Are top, np, last address of the structure?? Q3. here.....NodePtr makeNode(int);... does it returns an address of the structure which is np?? but following part np is used as a pointer??
i j x y w h w*h 0 0 0 0 9 11 99 1 0 0 11 9 10 90 2 0 0 21 9 11 99 0 1 9 0 8 12 96 1 1 9 12 8 7 56 2 1 9 19 8 6 48
[Code]...
Code:
struct data { //Here /*! horizontal position */ int x; /*! vertical position */ int y; /*! width */ int w; /
[Code]...
data and then i have an array /*! it contain group_id of each data line*/ int group_id[16]={0,0,0,0,3,3,1,1,1,3,3,2,2,2,2,1}; I never worked with 2D array before. My problem is that i want to create a 2D array of that data for example if i write data[j][i].. It will give me the reference/value of all data lines that belongs to j column, and same with group_id[j][i]. I don't know how i can store these structure vaules in this like 2D array.
