I am studying c and I thought what would be better than using my pi to play with relays and c. I am used to PHP as a scripting lang and don' t do much programming. So I wrote this to use wirepi and ask the user "on or off" they type on or off and it does it. it does work but I know something is wrong when I use strcmp in the if statment I can -10 for a value. Here is the code.....

So I have to make a program that allows the user to enter both positive and negative numbers and the program is suppose to calculate the sum of only the positive values while ignoring the negative values. Also it is to be a sentinel-controlled loop with a number ending the set of values.
here's one more thing id like to do to make the input even better able to handle user error, but im not sure if its possible or at least easy. I need the function to return a large positive number. As of right now, it can handle users entering characters, but what if the user enters a negative number? is there a way to check to see if what is coming in is negative before the sign gets lost in conversion to unsigned"ness"?

This program was made to allow students to enter as many test scores as they want and the program will show them in ascending order and then will calculate the average of all test scores. It works wonderful until you enter a negative test score and then it throws the averaging process off. I can't seem to be able to make the program not accept the negative numbers.
I am making program that allows the user to determine how big the array size will be and then asks the user to make up numbers to fill the array. Every time run the program on Dev C++ it says "program has stopped working"

I'm a novice with C programming and i have to solve an error in the following code. The code works like you enter a password called "uoc" and it shows as OK. But surprisely when you entered another password as "Cambridge" it works fine too.
I think that the problem is in the array declaration but i'm checking resources and no success!
I have used strcmp before on one dimensional arrays but not 2 dimensional arrays.The problem is that I have one 2d array that has text with some misspelled words and I have to compare it to another 2d array and if the word from the first array (misspelled word) is not in the 2nd array then I print it to the screen instead of correcting the spelling. I'm having a problem with the strcmp return value. My compiler returns the correct value based on my research, but I tried to compile the code below on those online compilers and the result was 1.
My compiler gave me 10, which I consider to be the correct result according to strcmp - C++ Reference. So strcmp is not very portable?

I am trying to find the max number entered by the user, and it should terminate when a negative number is entered. For my code, it will just end when the user inputs a lower number than the previous. i.e.- 10 20 15 "The highest number is 20" when it should be "10 20 5 40 15 -1" "The highest number is 40". No arrays or do/while loops either.

I am trying to compare strings (char*) using strcmp but I am having a hard time doing it with boost::bind. It compiles but it crashes when I run it.
I have a std::vector<boost::shared_ptr<DeviceInfo>> cMonitoredDevices and one cCurrentDevices. I used a typedef DeviceContainer for std::vector<boost::shared_ptr<DeviceInfo>>.
DeviceInfo is a simply struct that contains a char[128] Name (and other fields not important for this issue) that I want to use to compare.

I am having a slight issue with the strcmp function. I am comparing string data from two different files. I want the function to output a set of information if the strings are the same and a different set of data if the strings are different. My issue is, the function outputs the data that's the same but not different.
I had an else statement that compared the data if it was NOT equal but it only duplicated the data in the file.
One file is a listing of 100 books with 10 lines of information and an assigned market. The second file is a listing of the markets contained in the books file. However, the books file has a market that is not located in the markets file. The "missing" market is what is not priting or displaying.
why strcmp() doesn't return true when comparing a string constant with a string that was acquired via a linked list. By the way, the data in the linked list was taken from a text file. Does that imply that there's a new line () character in the string from the linked list?
In this simple end-of-chapter problem, the ages of two people are to be compared and determine who's older. The problem I'm experiencing is that the second user name input is being skipped and going straight to the second users age.
So while running the program it looks something like:

So I've got this form that a user puts in a numeric value into a text box. This value then has to be placed into a byte string of data so that it can be transmitted over as a packet. Bellow is what I have so far:

I've put in red the area where I'm having issues. I've tried different methods and have not been able to get this working yet. It only works if I speciffy the value manually as with OUTBuffer[1] = 0x85;, but I want byte 2 of OUTBuffer[] to be set with what I put in the text box.
I'm creating a program that should create a structure of a list of people entered by the user; the only problem I'm having is with the %c. When I have it, the loop only occurs once; if I put a %s, the loop occurs up to 25 times, but it doesn't write to the text file. Here is the code:
So im working with forks and creating 2 fork processes. One child and parent. What im trying to get the child to ask me for a value. Then the parent would start to figure out the value and keep trying. Once it figures it out its tells them you got it and simply stops the program. I cant seem to get the program to keep guessing and stop when the number is found which sends a sigint. Here's what i have so far.
I have this code here that counts the number of alphabetic letters the user's input,the number of characters total, the number of words and the number of "the" that was used. However now I need to alter the user's input to have two spaces after the end of each period, no spaces between a word or comma and each sentence has to have a capitalized letter and display them at the end. And I'm stuck on the altering part. I briefly started the 2 spaces after each period but it won't display anything.
