May 5, 2014

I'm making a quiz game in c++. I've already completed it. But now I've thought of creating a profile and saving the progress for the user so when he enters his name the game continues frm where he had saved it.

C/C++ :: Quiz Show Game - Reset File To Original

Apr 7, 2015

I've been taking a C++ class, and for a project we need to do, we have to create a simple quiz show game while putting the high scores and names inside a .txt file. We have lessons we can look at to complete it while learning. But at the end there's always a challenge that we should complete to show that we've actually learned the information. For the challenge, we needed to take the information in the .txt file and reset it to its original information. So say there's 5 people preset that have high scores, then a person plays the game and the program asks if they'd like to reset the list. If the user inputted 'y' or any key that needed to be pressed, the program would reset the .txt to its original information.

This is the code that creates the program.

// Include Libraries
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#include <fstream>
// Include standard namespace
using namespace std;
// Declare Global Variables
int Guess;
int Winnings;

[Code] ....

It works how I need it to and there aren't any problems, necessarily, but I want to know if there's any, more efficient, ways of completing this task. Like if there's any already made function of resetting a file.

This is the code that resets the file. As you can see, it just uses the information earlier in the code inside the if statement. Is there any pre-made function or method of resetting a file?

cout << "Would you like to reset the high scores list? (y or n): ";
cin >> ask;

if (ask == 'y')
{
High_Score[0] = 25000;
High_Score[1] = 12000;
High_Score[2] = 7500;
High_Score[3] = 4000;
High_Score[4] = 2000;

C++ :: Saving Huge Arrays For Game?

Nov 3, 2013

I have been coding a while on a 2D random terrain game. How would I go about saving the maps? I have an array for blocks, lighting, background and background lighting. The lighting is done in real-time, so exclude that.

But with two 32000x3200 arrays, I still need to store 204800000 separate numbers in a file. Oh god. How can I have this? I could write down the separate numbers, but...yeah.

If it matters, this is made in freeglut.

C++ :: Creating Game That Will Test The Attention And Mind Flexibility Of User

Mar 6, 2015

I want to create a game that will test the attention and mind flexibility of the user. So the challenge is The user will be given 50 rounds, and each round should generate a random combination of text and words.Then the user must Press 'Y' if the UPPER CASE text spells out a color that match the BACKGROUND. But if the text are in LOWERCASE the user must press 'N'.(Note: you can change the keys to any key from the keyboard if you wish to)

Then I also want my program to record the high score each time the program prompts the user if he/she wishes to play again.

I also want to control the combinations by NOT allowing the text color and background color to be the same.

I also want the combination to generate an AVERAGE of 50% correct combination and 50% wrong combinations. The I want to use is only Red, Blue and Green

HIGH SCORE Determinants:

1. Accuracy ( (Number of corrects / 50 ) * 100% ) - The higher the better.
2. Time in seconds (Time Ended - Time Started) - the lower the better.

Computation for high score: 10 000 * ( (Accuracy) - (2 x total Attempts - Time) )

I'm currently creating a guessing game program where the user will be asked to guess the computer generated number. Check out my code below.

Visual C++ :: Puzzle Game - Implement A Way To Save Board State Throughout User Inputted Path

Mar 16, 2013

I've been trying to figure out how to implement a way to save this board state throughout a user's inputted path. At the end, I need the output to print out the board states (user's path) of how he or she got the puzzle solved. This puzzle is the 15 Puzzle; but we have it to change by the user's input on what size they want to play (3x3 to 5x5). How to save the board state of each user input, then print those out in order from beginning to solved puzzle state. Subsequently, I would also need transferring the board state to change with using a vector to store the size based on user input. How to proceed, using a first search to solve the puzzle from the current board's state.

calculations.h

Code:
/*Calculations set as a header to keep compiling simple and faster*/

#ifndef calculations
#define calculations
int solved[5][5];
void initialize(int board[][5], int);
void slide(int board[][5],int move,int);
bool isBoardSolved(int board[][5],int);

Visual C++ :: FTP With Progress Dialog

Nov 13, 2012

For a project I'm working on, I need to be able to download a file from an FTP server and store it to a predetermined location with a predetermined name. No user interaction should be needed. Because the file is rather large, and I need the main program to remain responsive, this is going to need a progress dialog.

I could write all this myself and use the MFC wininet wrappers (CInternetSession et al) to do the downloading, but... Explorer already has this, and IE has such a dialog also. It doesn't seem unreasonable to assume those dialogs are available via some API.

Is a "FTP download with dialog" available as a windows API, or do I really need to write all this myself ?

C/C++ :: CodeBlocks Random Math Quiz Generator

Nov 26, 2014

The user will be allowed to pick:

-the number of problems they want to do
-the type of problem (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
-the range of numbers for the problems (like 0 to 9, -100 to 100, etc.) [random numbers in the range]

Your program will then display the given number of problems and get the answer from the user. It will tell the user it they are correct or not. If they are incorrect, it will print the correct answer.

After the given number of problems are displayed, the program will give the user the final number correct and percentage correct. The user will be asked if they want to go again. If so, you will reprompt the user for all the information and run again.

I came up with code thinking I was going in the right direction but it doesn't work correctly at all. We have to use functions. My main issue is how do i call variables from another function so all of the functions work together. I repeat I don't understand parameters and calling functions. here's the code:

#include <iostream>
#include <cstdlib>
#include <iomanip>
using namespace std;
int get_user_range(int &x, int &y);
int get_random_number ();
