C++ :: Game Doesn't Exit After The User Chooses To Quit
Dec 8, 2013
Game doesn't exit after the user chooses to quit. Loop for the game isn't working. Board does not reset when user wishes to try another game.
#include <iostream>
#include <cstdlib>
#include <conio.h>
using namespace std;
char square[10] = {'o','1','2','3','4','5','6','7','8','9'};
int checkwin();
void board();

Enter as many numbers as you want as long as the user doesn't type 'e' to exit.
Problem: When I enter a number, it works fine, but if I enter e then it'll go in an infinite loop since the letter is being stored in an int variable. How can I (when I press 'e') make it convert to a char to make it end the program?
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main() {
int num;
cout << "Enter a number or press e to exit:";
[Code] ....
Our class has just started c++ and we have not learned arrays and classes yet, so I'm guessing there is a way to do this without it? Or no?

Write a program which is used to calculate GPA based on the grades from different courses Input by the user. User should be able to enter as many course unless they choose to quit. Once the user has completed entering the data, the program should be able to provide a feedback on the GPA. Where A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1.

I am currently having problems creating a loop that will allow my user to choose to return to the beginning of the program or quit.
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main() {
int j;
do {float a;
cout << "+----Welcome to Basic Operations----+
| Select Your Operation |
[Code] .....
I have not yet finished designing the interface for a couple of the operations, but right now i am hung up on trying to return to the beginning. I believe it is because the j was defined inside do and isn't carried out of the do statement for while.

So I made a simple letter guessing game a while ago and I want to make a simple edit. If the user does not press 'y' or 'n' and instead inputs an invalid letter, I want the printf's in the main function to loop until the user chooses to play or quit.
And I want the choices to show up again at the end of a game. Basically I want it to keep asking if the user wants to play until the user chooses to exit. Here's my code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <time.h>
#define MAX_GUESSES 6
void Instructions ( ); //displays instructions, returns nothing
char Play ( ); //this functions plays one game, returns W if user wins & L if user runs out of tries
[Code] .....
I'm thinking of making a separate function (like Instructions and Play) ... But how would I link the user input back to the main function?

I need to create a command where the user inputs a character and it'll exit out the program rather than executing any of the other code.
For example :
If I wanted to do like
char key;
if (key == D || key == d)
{
}
What would I need to put in between those brackets under the if statement to allow the user to enter the letter D and it would close out the program?

// clang++ -g -std=c++11 main.cpp -pthread
#include <iostream>
#include <thread>
#include <unistd.h>
void thread1(void) {
while(1)
[code]....
Thread 1 does some background work, and thread2 is waiting for the user's input. If I join thread1 then the app can never exit. If I neither join nor detach thread1 then I get "terminate called without an active exception Aborted" which is not a good thing to have. If I do detach on thread1 does thread1 ever terminate? If not, how to terminate it? Also, how do I check if it's terminated or not?

Also, how do I check if it's terminated or not? -- I realize it's platform specific, I am on Linux.

I have my Reverse Polish calculator compiling and everything but for the assignment I need to handle a few exceptions that I can't seem to get. First off I'm trying to make the program exit if the user enters only "0" but since the input i'm using is string, I cant figure out how to code
"If the first node is 0 and the next node = NULL, return true"
Here is my code:
#include<iomanip>
#include<iostream>
#include<stdlib.h>
#include<stdio.h>
#include<string>
#include<sstream>

I was asked to create a loop that outputs until Quit is entered for customer name. This is what my output is suppose to look like: I will also attach the code I made. Im sure there is something wrong with my while command. But I believe there is something else I have to add to print out the last customer name: quit output.
Lab 28 - Your Name
Input Customer Name: xxxxxxxxxx
Input Customer State: xx
Input Product Price: xxx.xx
Customer Name: xxxxxxxxxxx
Customer State: xx
Product Price: xxx.xx
Product Discount: xxx.xx
Discounted Price: xxx.xx
Sales Tax: xx.xx
Total Cost: xxx.xx
Input Customer Name: Quit
End of Lab 28 for Your Name
Code :
#include<iostream>
#include<iomanip>
#include<string>
using namespace std;
double pPrice , pDiscount , dPrice , sTax , tCost ;

1- heavy
2-light heavy
3-light, t
These cars move from start point to quit at end of highway, highway must be object (programmed by class), and have 200 columns and 4 raw, it must be horizontal... . the cars speed are different,
speed =1,2,3; length=1,2,3;

I'm making a quiz game in c++. I've already completed it. But now I've thought of creating a profile and saving the progress for the user so when he enters his name the game continues frm where he had saved it.

I want to create a game that will test the attention and mind flexibility of the user. So the challenge is The user will be given 50 rounds, and each round should generate a random combination of text and words.Then the user must Press 'Y' if the UPPER CASE text spells out a color that match the BACKGROUND. But if the text are in LOWERCASE the user must press 'N'.(Note: you can change the keys to any key from the keyboard if you wish to)
Then I also want my program to record the high score each time the program prompts the user if he/she wishes to play again.
I also want to control the combinations by NOT allowing the text color and background color to be the same.
I also want the combination to generate an AVERAGE of 50% correct combination and 50% wrong combinations. The I want to use is only Red, Blue and Green
HIGH SCORE Determinants:
1. Accuracy ( (Number of corrects / 50 ) * 100% ) - The higher the better.
2. Time in seconds (Time Ended - Time Started) - the lower the better.
Computation for high score: 10 000 * ( (Accuracy) - (2 x total Attempts - Time) )

I'm currently creating a guessing game program where the user will be asked to guess the computer generated number. Once the program is finished, at the end the user will be asked if they want to play again. If the user types "Y or Y" the program will loop and when the user types "n or N" it will not loop. Check out my code below.
#include<iostream.h>
#include<stdio.h>
#include<dos.h>
#include<stdlib.h>
#include<conio.h>
#define g gotoxy
void main(){
int a,l,b,guess,row,col,answer,num,clue=5;
[Code] ....
I can't loop this program.

I've been trying to figure out how to implement a way to save this board state throughout a user's inputted path. At the end, I need the output to print out the board states (user's path) of how he or she got the puzzle solved. This puzzle is the 15 Puzzle; but we have it to change by the user's input on what size they want to play (3x3 to 5x5). How to save the board state of each user input, then print those out in order from beginning to solved puzzle state. Subsequently, I would also need transferring the board state to change with using a vector to store the size based on user input. How to proceed, using a first search to solve the puzzle from the current board's state.
calculations.h
Code:
/*Calculations set as a header to keep compiling simple and faster*/
#ifndef calculations
#define calculations
int solved[5][5];
void initialize(int board[][5], int);
void slide(int board[][5],int move,int);
bool isBoardSolved(int board[][5],int);
[Code] .....

Basically I have a text file called words. I'm supposed to extract a word randomly form the file and have the user guess the word. If they guess the word correctly in x number of tries they will receive the definition.
I'm having trouble receiving that random word and I'm getting the definitions from the file.
Here's my code:
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <time.h>
using namespace std;
[Code] ....
This is what is in the words.txt file
apple#the usually round, red or yellow, edible fruit of a small tree
boat#a vessel for transport by water
horse#a solid-hoofed plant-eating domesticated mammal with a flowing mane and tail, used for riding
television#a system for transmitting visual images and sound that are reproduced on screens
soup#a liquid dish, typically made by boiling meat, fish, or vegetables, etc.
bottle#a container, typically made of glass or plastic and with a narrow neck
barber#a person who cuts hair
toast#sliced bread browned on both sides by exposure to radiant heat
radar#a system for detecting the presence, direction, distance, and speed of aircraft, ships, and other objects
red#of a color at the end of the spectrum next to orange and opposite violet

I'm working on my first video game. So far I have a few classes in the game starting with the Game class which includes a list of GameObjects (another class). There are several classes that inherit from GameObjects used to implement things like bullets, explosions, various enemy types, etc.
The game essentially iterates through the list of GameObjects to update/render them. I would like to provide access to the Game's list of GameObjects inside another class (like the Bullet class) so I can put new objects on the list. For example, when a bullet hits, I want to add an explosion to the Game's GameObject list it can be updated/rendered.
How this should be setup? I was considering adding a pointer to the Game or GameObject list to the GameObject class (and methods to access it), but I was wondering if there is a better way to set this up?

for starters i hope this question wasn't posted yet.i want to write a small program that askes the user what he wants to do , and then executes the comand in system . But for some reason it doesn't quit on the key word this is the code:
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
/*a simple interaction programme that schow the system options*/
#define systemt "x1b[32m" /*changes the color to green for system output*/
#define user "x1b[0m" /*changes the color to white for user input*/
int main() {
[Code]...
Is there something wrong white the code or does the system bock me from reusing the choise string. i'll inculde the original c file as well

I am working on a project with rf2500 radio sensors and a state machine handles the whole fucntion of the sensor.. I have this while statement
Code:
while(state!=STATE_STATENINETYFIVE){
__bis_SR_register(LPM3_bits + GIE);
__no_operation();
}
which stop the sleep mode of the CPU every time the STATE_STATENINETYFIVE comes up. I want to make it like this
Code:
while((state!=STATE_ABRRECEIVE)||(state!=STATE_STATENINETYFIVE)){
__bis_SR_register(LPM3_bits + GIE);
__no_operation();
}
So if STATE_ABRRECEIVE or STATE_STATENINETYFIVE comes up exit the while too.
I read some previous post about and I thought to change the logical OR || with AND && but din't work for me... state is type of u_int8_t. Is it a logical error???

I'm trying to make a very simple reaction game where a random number flickers on the screen for a fraction of a second and the user has to then enter the number before another comes on the screen after a random amount of time. However I dont know how i would make it so that the user cannot enter anything after a certain amount of time has passed, below is my code?
Also FYI, clock_start is at 5100 because by the time the program actually gets to scanning in the first number the time is at an absolute minimum of 5050 milliseconds however obviously this is an impossible number to reach due to processing, my machine clocks in at 5080.
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <time.h>
#include <windows.h>
int main(void){
[Code]...
