C++ :: How To Call Class Method / Function From HXX File In CPP File
Feb 11, 2014
How do I call a class method which is defined in a .hxx file separately to a .cpp file? Is it any different from how we normally do it (using the scope resolution operator after the class name and then the method name with parameters) ?

I have read the book over and over and I thought I understand "CLASS". But when I applied it and write the code the compiler tells me that there is a compiling error.
1. I have this method addProduct(Product* pProduct) in a Class called ProductRack, the code is in ProductRack.cpp file. The declaration of the Class methods and private variables are in ProductRack.h header file.
2. But when I call a method in the DeliveryCHute Class from the ProductRack Class I get a compiler errors which are these:
A.IntelliSense: a nonstatic member reference must be relative to a specific object
B.error C2352: 'Project1::DeliveryChute::insertProduct' : illegal call of non-static member function
And this is causing the error:
if (Project1::DeliveryChute::insertProduct(pProduct) == false)
//THIS IS JUST ONE METHOD INSIDE ProductRack.cpp
bool
Project1::ProductRack::addProduct(Product* pProduct) {
// Todo : Implementing
if (Project1::DeliveryChute::insertProduct(pProduct) == false)
return true;
[Code] .....

So I'm rewriting an old project of mine, and I'm trying to determine if there's truly any better way to map the data taken from a text file "dictionary" into the correct class fields for further processing. For example:
FNAME=MY_FIRST_NAME
ADDR=123 SOMEWHERE LN, NOWHERESVILLE, TX 01234
LNAME=MY_LAST_NAME
TOTCALLS=47
In each of these, I'd need the "value" (MY_FIRST_NAME, MY_LAST_NAME, etc) from the "keys" (FNAME, LNAME, etc) to be mapped to the proper class fields. Say, for example, I had this:
Class DataProcessing {
public string Address;
public string FirstName;
public string LastName;
public int TotalCalls;
...
}
I would need DataProcessing.Address to be set to the value in the ADDR key/value pair. The same would be true for each other field. The problem is that based on the text file's source (which isn't under my control, and won't be changed anytime soon), the key/value pairs are not always in the same place...so a second file could have the data as such:
TOTCALLS=47
ADDR=123 SOMEWHERE LN, NOWHERESVILLE, TX 01234
LNAME=DARKPOETCC'S LAST NAME
FNAME=DARKPOETCC'S FIRST NAME
Any smarter way to do this than looping through each line that was read in from the file, and determining where it belongs, such as (pseudo code follows):
IF FieldName == "TOTCALLS" THEN
//Assign to TotalCalls field
ELSEIF FieldName == "ADDR" THEN
//Assign to Address field
ELSEIF FieldName == (You get the picture...)
//Do thing N_Field

void tfm( char str_filename[], void(*pf_convertion)( char content[]));
void uppercase(char content[]); //converts all letters to uppercase
int main(){

I have a question similar to the one here: [URL] .....
The main difference is I would like to pass a method of derived class as a parameter to some other method in its template base class.
template <typename BaseType>
class Base {
public:
typedef void (Base::*Callback)(int A);
[Code] .....
The above is an example which does not compile. My compiler complains that the two BaseMethod() calls in DerivedMethod() are invalid uses of non-static member function.
Is this not possible to do, or is my syntax simply wrong? All I want is to be able to pass as an an argument to a method in the base class from the derived class some callback as a variable for the base class to invoke later.

I just wondering if a base class can call the overridden function from a Derived class?
Here's an example:
//Base Class H
class BaseClass {
public:
BaseClass();
virtual ~BaseClass();
virtual void functionA();
[Code] ....
So basically, when I am creating a new object of Derived class, it will initialize BaseClass and the BaseClass will call functionA but I want it to call the function overridden by Derived class.
I know that if I call newObj->functionA it will call the overridden function. Right now I want the base class to call the overridden function "this->functionA(); in BaseClass" during its initialization. Is it possible to do that?

Basically, I have a base class called MainShop and it has 3 derived classes which are SwordShop, SpellBookShop and BowShop. I want the base class to be able to call a function from one of the derived classes but no matter what i do, it doesn't seem to work!
Here is my code:
#include "MainShop.h"
//BaseClass cpp
void MainShop::EnterShop(Hero& hero)
[Code]....
I have two other derived classes, but its basically the same concept. I have a function in one of the derived classes and i would like to call it from the base class. This is one my derived classes:
//SwordShop derived cpp
#include "SwordShop.h"
void SwordShop::soldierShop(Hero& hero)
{
/* some code here*/

I'm having this pain in the ass error (No matching function for call to Data::Data() ) on this block of code:
Etapa::Etapa(string nm, float dist, string loc, Data dt) {
nome = nm;
distancia = dist;
local = loc;
data = dt;
}
[Code].....
I guess this is happening because I'm trying to give Etapa an argument of Data type and I can't do it or put it in a variable since it has 3 parameteres (mes, dia, ano).

I get the following error in XCode whenever I try to access the member I created 'randomGen' in a separate class in a different header file. I have made sure to include the header file and have tried to access it through an object.
This is the code I enter when trying to access the method from randomiser.h in main.cpp. It is also an overloaded function with doubles and integers:
RandomG randomiser;
randomiser.randomGen(); // 'Call to member function 'randomGen' is ambiguous'
This is the code inside randomiser.h:
#include <string>
#include <iostream>
using std::string;
using std::cout;
using std::endl;
class RandomG {
[Code] ....
This is the error inside xcode: [URL] ....
I have tried seperating the code for the functions in another class (main.cpp) and then running and it seems to works, so I'm not sure why I can't put everything in the .h file and then access it?
I would like it in a seperate file so it doesn't clutter my main. I am writing a game with SDL so that might be confusing and I would like the window to have a random title and other random properties, so it would be easier to use a function.

I'm trying to implement Tarjan's Strongly Connected Components Algorithm in C++. Here's how I gotten so far:
void tarjan(vector<Vertex>& G){
index = 0;
while (!S.empty()) S.pop();
[Code]....
Here's an example graph for the algorithm to run: [URL]
Here's the first part of the output of the program: [URL]
all the index & lowlink values of the nodes are set to -1 in the beginning. global index value is set to 0. My problem is, the algorithm starts running on Vertex X-4. It runs the instruction X-4.index=0 & X-4.lowlink=0 then it calls itself with the paramater of node X-1. it sets X-1's index & lowlink values to 1. then it calls itself for X2. then it checks whether node X-4 has the index value <0 or not. Even though we set the value of X-4 to 0 in the first run, it still sees X-4.index as -1.

I am trying to write a program which involves linked list. i have to create a method called add_aa( str ). I am reading from a text file. in the text file it just contains the values for str. what I am trying to do is create the method add_aa( str ) and add what corresponds to str from the file. here is what the output should look like. and what i have is very basic. here is what i have
inline void LList:: add_aa(const string _str) {
cout << " p = " << std::hex << p << std::dec << '
';
}
I'm thinking using a for statement, but how to incorporate it

I'm using the Split method to parse line in a csv file. The following code works if there are no commas in the text of my data.
string csvLine;
string[] splitLine;
csvLine = "Jim Borland,1234,Never dreams in code";
splitLine = csvLine.Split(',');
But if I have commas in the some of the text as below I get then wrong output. So I need split on a commas which are not enclosed in double quotes.
string csvLine;
string[] splitLine;
csvLine = ""Jim,C,Borland",1234,"Never dreams in code"";
splitLine = csvLine.Split(',');
The output I want is:
Jim,C,Borland
1234
Never dreams in code
I found this :
If your strings are all well-formed it is possible with the following regular expression:
String[] res = str.split(",(?=([^"]|"[^"]*")*$)");
The expression ensures that a split occurs only at commas which are followed by an even (or zero) number of quotes ... and thus not inside such quotes).
Nevertheless, it may be easier to use a simple non-regex parser.
But the .split gives me an error and .Split doesn't work either.

I declared a member method to a class in its header file and implemented it in the cpp file. When I build and run the project in XCode, everything works fine. When I try to do it with a makefile, I get undefined symbols linker errors.
parser.h
Code:
#ifndef ENGINE_SCRIPT_PARSER_H
#define ENGINE_SCRIPT_PARSER_H
#include <string>
#include "variable.h"
namespace ninja_game_engine {
[Code] ....
The exact makefile looks like this:
Code:
test:
g++
Code/Engine/Modules/Timer/timer.cpp
Code/Engine/Modules/list.cpp
[Code] ....
I'm pretty sure that there is a weird namespace gotcha that I'm unaware of that LLVM (default OSX compiler) is compensating for that g++ isn't. Or maybe something weird with the optimization? I want the tests running at that level to make sure everything that is volatile is declared as such.
Rest of the code located here: [URL] ....

Hey I am trying to use the getline() function to read a line from a file. For some reason Visual Studio 2010 gives me the following error. "No instance of overloaded function "getline" matches the argument list". The piece of code that produces the error is in a class in a separate .h file and is executed as a method of the object. I'm almost certain it has something to do with either the compiler thinking I am calling another getline in a different namespace or my parameters for the function are incorrect. Here is the code:
Code:
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#include <vector>
#include <fstream>
