View 3 RepliesI am trying to write a to a specific sector in a flash drive. The problem is that it will only allow me to write to sectors 0 to 15. When I try sector 16 or higher nothing happens, but in sector 0 to 15 is is working fine.

int main(void) {
FILE *volume;
int k = 0;
long long sector = 0;
char buf[BUFFER_SIZE] = {0};

Write a program that is able to save a list of items such as books, CDs, or DVDs and the items that are saved must have attributes associated with them. For example a book has a title, author, publisher, and ISBN.I would like to create a program that is able to save the database of items to a file on the hard drive and also retrieve it from the hard drive.I have this for a start of how to set up a storing program.
#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>
using namespace std;
int main () {
const int arraySize = 10;
int a[arraySize] = { 2, 6, 4, 10, 12, 89, 68, 45, 37 };
int i, hold;

I want to replace what is in a specific sector with value inside a buffer(dummy value). This code will read what is inside a specific sector. To make sure it works it display what is inside the sector and it displays the chosen dummy value. (the two cout's in main)
What I want to do is to replace the dummy value with what is inside the specific sector. So if the dummy value is '0', I want to replace what is in sector 285 with '0'.
#include <windows.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>
using namespace std;
#define FILE_SHARE_VALID_FLAGS 0x00000007
#define BUFFER_SIZE 512
[Code] ....
I can access a physical device to read a specific sector in a USB hard drive. But my question is how can I Write to a specific sector? Lets say I want to replace what is in a specific sector of a hard drive with a new data.

View 1 Replies View RelatedTwo Hard-coded Arrays into One 2-Dimensional Vector I have 2 arrays, each of them are hard-coded with integer values. I also have one 2-Dimensional vector and I want to put 1 array into the first column of the vector and the other array into the 2nd column of the vector. The reason is that I want to do math on the 2nd column of the vector only.
I am able to accomplish this with 3 arrays. Two of them are 1-Dimensional and the third array is 2-Dimensional.
I know how to pass ONE Array into ONE vector:
Code:
vector<int> myVector(typeArray, typeArray + 4);
however, when I declare a 2-Dimensional vector:
Code:
vector< vector <int> > myVector(3, vector<int> (2,0))
I am not seeing how to add TWO arrays or how to OUTPUT it to the screen.
Here is my code using DevCPP:
#include <iostream>
#include <vector>
#include <Windows.h>
[Code]...
I don't get any errors, however, I don't know how to output it to the screen to see what it looks like.
I am about to transfer a project I have written in Applescript and Objective C to Excel/VBA/dll. I have started with the Objective C functions that I want to place in a dll and call via VBA.
The Objective C is C with a thin dusting of special Obejctive C code to have it talk with Applescript and the rest of the project so in theory it should be easy to make dlls written in C from it.
But I have already problems with the tiniest of all functions. I am sure it can be done more effectively but right now I need to know WHY it doesn't work if I am ever going to be able to transfer the much larger functions from Objective C to C.
Here is my original Objective C code:
Code: -
(NSNumber *)game:(NSNumber *)games gamechange:(NSNumber *)gameskifte
{
int gamesab = [games intValue];
int gameskifteab = [gameskifte intValue];
[Code].....
int main (){
string filename;
cout << "Enter the file name: ";
cin >> filename;
ofstream myfile( filename.c_str(), ios::app);
}
Here is the code and my original question was how do I make it so that the user can read or write into a file that is not hard coded.
hard code example:
string filename;
cout << "Enter the file name: ";
cin >> filename;
ofstream myfile( "file.txt", ios::app);
I have a C++ WIN32 DLL that acts as a server for a UI. Now i want to capture all keyboard inputs in the PC on the WIN32 dll, whenever the UI has active focus. If the user is typing something into another app, i don't care.
The trick is that, the keyboard can be both a software keyboard or a hardware keyboard. I want to be able to capture every keyboard input from the user on the PC in which the UI and DLL is running.
Is this possible to do? How can i implement this?
I want to track the mouse movement. I know that GTk+ provides some powerful libraries for creating GUI, that will, among other things, enable me to write handlers for mouse movement events, but I'm looking for a simpler, more compact capabilities for now.
Is there a low level C library that will enable me to interface with the mouse?

I want some simple code which will return only the DriveInfo from one drive. I have the below code but it isn't displaying what I expect it to display, I have a feeling i'm using Linq wrong!
var dname = from n in System.IO.DriveInfo.GetDrives() where n.Name == "F" select n.VolumeLabel;
richTextBox2.AppendText(dname.ToString() + "
");
The above should return the devices VolumeLabel which is in port F.
Instead I get the following:
System.Linq.Enumerable+WhereSelectArrayIterator`2[System.IO.DriveInfo,System.String]

So I am have made this 2D ball game. But I want to set a time limit for each level. I want player to play that level for maximum 3 minutes. After 3 minutes the game level should end. I have used allegro 5.0.10 with c++ . How to achieve it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am writing an software that should be able to detect all keyboard inputs by the user. i.e., both hardware and software/on-screen keyboard.
This software is going to be written in a platform independent way and supposed to run on Windows, Linux, Android & iOS.
The idea is to capture the keyboard inputs from a low level, there by making sure that it doesn't miss any inputs even if it's a on-screen keyboard like in a mobile device.
I am looking at possible open source libraries that can be used.

The program is supposed to have a method called Hitscore that adds a score between 0 and 1000 inputted by the user to the total score and increases level by one and print the score to the screen and which level they last completed after each entry . Have the user continue inputting scores to the program until the gamer has finished all 10 levels. After 10 levels, use a method you create called PassScore to have the program compare the score to avgscore (5000). If the score is less than avgscore, have the code respond "You are not angry at all. " if it is above avgscore, then have it respond "You seem quite angry, calm down. " and if it is exactly 5000, have it respond "Average, just average. "

For school we have to create a blackjack game using windows form. I had to store the images of each card into a sorted list so i created a class called cardList and created a constructor which contained the the sorted list called cards. So it looks kinda like this:
public class cardList : Form1
{
SortedList cards = new SortedList();
public cardList()

There's probably a few other errors, I'm still trying to figure this whole c# thing out. why the error tells me (on the line that contains c.cards.GetByIndex(cardNumber);) that cards is inaccessible due the its protection level.
i wish to plot a mathematical function on a 2-dimensional grid. The function will be represented by 3 sets of floats, x-values, y-values, and z-values. Obviously, it is impossible to plot 3 such data sets on a 2D grid, so one approach is to use pixel coloration to represent the z-values.
Those examples (and there are many to be found) show something like the function of the complex variable z, f(z) = exp(z). I have attached a exp(z).jpg example of the imaginary part of the plot exp(z).
My question is: How to accomplish such a gradient colorization, assuming one already has the data?
I have experimented with Gdiplus SetPixel, but I have not figured out how to produce a smooth gradient.
Here's my attempt to create a simple gradient:
Code:
CDC * pDC = GetDC();
Graphics graphics(pDC->m_hDC);
CRect r;
GetWindowRect(&r);
ScreenToClient(&r);

I would like the user to insert a CD into their computer and click on an button on my application that allows them to read the CD-ROM and find a specific file type, e.g. csv, and then grab the info in the csv file.
I already have my StreamReader setup grabbing a filepath.
Now I am just wondering...how do I detect the CD-ROM and how do I grab the filepath of the only CSV file on the CD-ROM?
What's behind detecting a CD-ROM and grabbing a specific file type from a CD-ROM?
I heard about DriveInfo
However, that only allows me to detect a drive but not look at it's contents.
