C :: How To Create Double Link List For 2 Level Hierarchy

Jun 11, 2014

I have to create a 2D link list with 2 level hierarchy

some thing like that

Code:
head nodes level 1: 0 1 2
/| / /|
Sub node level 2: 0 1 2 0 1 0 1 2
Real Data under |
each sub node: |

int **join=Null;
int unique = 0;
int col;
int ptr;
int *tmp_perm=Null;
int col_elem;

I know how to deal with 1 level link list structure. But i don't know how to access, delete, nodes and sub nodes from this 2 level hierarchy. C

C Sharp :: Error Concerning Sorted List Not Being Accessible Due To Its Protection Level

Oct 7, 2012

For school we have to create a blackjack game using windows form. I had to store the images of each card into a sorted list so i created a class called cardList and created a constructor which contained the the sorted list called cards. So it looks kinda like this:

public class cardList : Form1
{
SortedList cards = new SortedList();
public cardList()

[Code]....

There's probably a few other errors, I'm still trying to figure this whole c# thing out. why the error tells me (on the line that contains c.cards.GetByIndex(cardNumber);) that cards is inaccessible due the its protection level.

Visual C++ :: Assignment Is Recursive Call And Placing Strings In Link List Notes?

Oct 30, 2013

You need to write a permute class that will take first and second strings to rearrange letters in first, followed by second. For example, if the first is “CAT” string and second is “MAN” string, then the program would print the strings TACMAN, ATCMAN, CTAMAN, TCAMAN, ACTMAN, and CATMAN. The first and second strings can be any length of string or a null.

The permute class uses a Note class as link list note to link all letters arrangement. The permute class has Note pointers, firstNote and lastNote, to point to the beginning and ending Notes of the link list as private data members. There are three other private data members (total, firstString and secondString) to store the total possible number of arrangements and strings pass into the class.

Write a driver to test the permute class to pass in any two strings of any sizes.

Other than mention in the following, you can add more classes, functions, and private data members to this program.

Note class:The Note class needs to have two private data members and a constructor. The two private data members are data and p pointer. The data’s data type is string and p pointer is Note. The Note class constructor has two parameters, one is string and the other is Note pointer.

Permute class:The Permute class has five private data members (*firstNote, *lastNote, total, firstString and secondString). The firstNote and lastNote pointers are point to Note. The total has integer data type. The firstString and secondString have string data type.

There should have at least three public member functions, Permute, permutation and print. The Permute function is the constructor which takes strings to initialize the private data members. The permutation function does the recursive call to arrange the strings and setup the link list. The print function will print out the private data member information.

Driver file:The driver file should declare a Permute eight elements pointer array. Instantiate eight Permute object with the following eight set of data and assign the object to the pointer array. Use a repetition to call the object’s print function to print out the private data member information. If the total of the permute private data member is less than 100 then print out the permutated letters four in a row, otherwise print out 9 in a row.

first = "", second="",

first = "", second ="CATMAN",

first = "C", second ="ATMAN",

first = "CA", second ="TMAN",

first = "CAT", second ="MAN",

first = "CATM", second ="AN",

first = "CATMA", second ="N",

first 1 = "CATMAN", second ="";

Code:
#ifndef LINKEDLIST_H
#define LINKEDLIST_H
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <sys/stat.h>
#include <signal.h>
#ifndef NULL

[Code] ....

When compiling I am getting the following error : 'NODE' undeclared (first use in this function)

and

each undeclared identifier is reported only once for each function it appears in

I have also attached the screen shot from the QT IDE

look's like the compiler is not able to pick up the definition of NODE structure , same happens in Netbeans IDE , interesting thing is if change the source file from c to cpp the error goes away .

I have to write a c program that will allow the user to enter names with ages. The name will be no longer than 40 characters. The name and age should be stored in a node of a doubly linked list. I cant use global data. I need to use 3 subroutines. the first one needs to enter the data and pass the head and tail pointers to the subroutine. the next subroutine needs to print the names and ages to the screen and file output.txt from first to last. the last subroutine needs to print out names and ages to the screen and file output.txt from the last to first.

C/C++ :: Doubly Linked List Versus Double Ended Queue

Jun 27, 2014

A while ago i was asked to write a program for a class that used a "Double ended queue with a current-position marker."

An example of some of the functions that i created are:

boolean atFirst() // Returns true if first element is current. Pre: !isEmpty().
boolean atLast() // Returns true if last element is current. Pre: !isEmpty().
void makeEmpty() // Sets this List to the empty state. Post: isEmpty().
void moveFirst() // Sets current marker to first element.
void movePrev() // Moves current marker one step toward first element.
void moveNext() // Moves current marker one step toward last element.
void insertBeforeFirst(int data) // Inserts new element before first element.

My question is whether a double ended queue with pointer is the same thing as a "doubly linked list" in this case. The terminology is throwing me of a little. If the two concepts are different, how is a doubly linked list different?

What does the single colon (CBrowseDialog:) mean? Is that Initializer List?

I know the double colon (NWindows::NControl::CModalDialog) is Scope Resolution Operator.

Why is (: public NWindows::NControl::CModalDialog) used with the class declaration?

Similar code is found through out the project along with class declarations.

C++ :: Creating A Class That Would Implement Concept Of Double Linked List Like A Queue

Jun 15, 2013

Well, basically, what I've been doing was creating a class that would implement the concept of Double Linked List, but that would behave like a queue ( the STL implementation is deque, or Double Ended Queue ).

The problem occured when I have been trying to generalize the class using templates. I mean, why use only integers ? Why not double or char or what not ?

Worked perfectly before including all the template stuff..

// Source.cpp <=> Main.cpp
#include <iostream>
#include "DList.h"
using namespace std;
int main(void) {
DList<int> *list;
list = new DList<int>();

C++ :: Container Of Hierarchy Of Objects

Apr 25, 2014

How do we design a container of objects all of which belong to some subclass which directly/indirectly inherits from a given parent class? Moreover, I would like to have functions that enable me to pick only objects of a certain class type from the container.

For example if the parent class is A and I have a hierarchy of classes that derive from it, we must have a container that can contain any class that exists in this hierarchy. Also, get_B() must be able to let me examine only those objects in this container that inherit (directly/indirectly) from class B (class B exists in the hierarchy rooted at A).

Preferably, we would like to avoid downcasting. Or even explicit typechecking of any sort.

C++ :: Payroll System - Visualizing Hierarchy

Apr 27, 2014

I have been given a HW to write code for a payroll system. The base class would be Employee. There are four types of employees.

1 - Salaried (fixed salary, no matter the hours)
2 - Hourly (overtime [>40 hours] pays time and half)
3 - Commissioned (paid percentage of sales)
4 - Base-plus-commissioned (base salary + percentage of sales)

Also add a private data member birthDate (a Date object) and departmentCode, an int to class Employee.

1 - Is the following hierarchy that I'm visualizing right? Or is a change needed?

Here is the link: [URL] ....

2 - In hourly, what does in round brackets mean? What is meant by "pays time and half"?

3 - In base-plus-commissioned, is it required to take "base salary" from user or I just get salary from the salaried employee?

C/C++ :: Finding The Right Class Hierarchy Implementation?

May 29, 2013

code:

    class BM_FONT_CALL BMfont  {
    public:
    BMfont();
    ~BMfont();
    bool Load(const std::string& fontName);
    void Print(float x, float y);
    class BM_FONT_CALL BMstring : public std::string

[code]....

How can I do `BMstring` have an access to `BMfont`'s members, as if `BMstring` will not inherit `BMfont`'s members? For example, if I do this:

    BMfont::BMstring text;
    text.scale //I don't want this

What I want to do here is, I want the `BMstring::Compile()` to have an access to `BMfont` with no any instance of `BMfont` inside `BMstring`.

Or what if I do this:

    class BM_FONT_CALL BMstring : public std::string {
        std::function<void (void)> func;
    public:
        BMstring() { func = BMfont::Compile(); }
    }

By making the `Compile()` member of `BMfont`.But this won't compile. How can I achieve this?

C++ :: Storing Objects Of Hierarchy In A Vector

Jun 6, 2012

I have a hierarchy of Actions (NonMovingActions and MovinActions each with sub-hierarchies). Actions class has an abstract function.

Code:
class Action {
public:
Action(Agent& agent, ...):agent(agent),..{}
virtual ~Action(void);
virtual bool run()=0;

[Code]...

It appears that C++ does not allow this (in Java it was possible). Compiler objects that Action class is abstract (and cannot be instantiated?!)

Code: error C2259: 'Action' : cannot instantiate abstract class

1- May I know what do I not understand here? We cannot refer to sub-class instances with a reference of parent class type?

2- Should I use vector of pointers instead or what?

C++ :: Obtaining Pointers To Represent Each Branch In Hierarchy?

Aug 24, 2014

My program has a large version of this, where every leaf class is singleton, and pointers of the base class to represent each possible path are stored in a map during compile time. I have it working as follows:

#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#include <map>

[Code].....

But System::initializePrototypes() is constructing the map manually, and I want to use recursion somehow, because my hierarchy is much bigger than this. It's also easy to miss a path doing it the above way, and when new classes are added to the hierarchy, it will be a nightmare to update the map. So the ideal solution is recursion constructing the map perfectly--and when new classes are introduced, nothing needs to be added to System::initializePrototypes().

This structure is kept inside a tree so that when a root "frame" is passed to a method like UpdateHierachy, the mesh will recursively update itself.

If, I don't pass this method the root element, which is in my case, how do I change the rest of the structure? The reason to do this is because I want to say move the door, the windows and furniture will move along with it.
