I made a program that can use a function to manipulate data from a list class. The program is very basic and I think the error makers may be obvious to some of you. I just wanted to find it without having to scrap my program. It doesn't generate a compile error but it announces a memory error while it is running. I use visual studio 2012, the program is an exercise from a c++ book.

C :: Program To Manipulate Doubly Linked List

I'm trying to write a program that manipulates a doubly linked list. My professor wants it to have two structs, one called Node (containing the data, and pointers to the next and previous nodes) and one called DLList, which contains the nodes for the head and tail (which is then passed to all of my functions).

I'm a little confused how to access the head and tail, for instance, if I want to initially set them to null in the main function (he emphasized the need for this), or to use them in my functions. I've tried a lot of variations to call the head and tail, but I keep getting told that head and tail are undeclared in the function.

How might I access my head and tail, for instance in a main function, when they're defined like this? (I took out all of the logic in my functions for clarity)

C++ :: File IO Inside A Class - No Instance Of Overloaded Function Getline Matches Argument List

Hey I am trying to use the getline() function to read a line from a file. For some reason Visual Studio 2010 gives me the following error. "No instance of overloaded function "getline" matches the argument list". The piece of code that produces the error is in a class in a separate .h file and is executed as a method of the object. I'm almost certain it has something to do with either the compiler thinking I am calling another getline in a different namespace or my parameters for the function are incorrect. Here is the code:

C++ ::  typedef As Data Type For Specialized Template Function In Class From Shared Library

I have a class "Result" with a single template function Set(const std::string& arName, T& val) and a specialization of this function Set<Real>(const std::string& arName, Real& val) where Real is a typedef for double. The class is in a shared library and I use it in my main program. If I do result->Set<GLOBAL::Real>("U", 100.0); the wrong template function is called!

I check this by the output with std::cout.

Maybe it's a problem with the typedef.

If I link the object file of the Result class directly to my main program (no shared library), it works.

I've come to a point where I want to manipulate an image file at run time or with pre-determine sizes and have to be applied when the windows is moved or through in program options.

I know I can do the applying part. However I am a little unsure of how to tackle the image manipulation. I want to make it so that it is not os dependant. So I know I can not rely on any os functions. The only other thought that came to mind was to deal with the video card itself.

So the main question after all of that is said and done. How is c++ able to interact with the video card directly for images? Or if there are existing function I can use. How do they do that? If I can use existing function I would like to be able to manipulate it myself.

I need a translate (in both directions) all primitive types, into char[] (will be stored in string)

I understand how to manipulate integral types with bits and I cant just cut them down and shift them, but float and double don't work with this manipulation. So, how I can create a perfect bit copy of float and double?

C++ :: Importing 2D Array - Print Out Matrix And Manipulate It

Essentially what I need to do is take a text file, ("input.txt"):

1 0 0 1
1 1 1 1
0 0 1 0
0 0 1 0

And take the first two values on line 1 (4, 4) and use them as length and width.
Number of rows: 4
Number of columns: 4

Then I need to print out the matrix and further manipulate it. I need to find the sum of the 1's per column and then take that number and replace each 1 with the 1's in each column.

So it'll look like this:
2 0 0 2
2 1 3 2
0 0 3 0
0 0 3 0

The part that's mostly troubling me is that my instructor will be giving me the input file with random values, so I don't know what the matrix dimensions will be.

I can read the 2D array but can't seem to use it after. I need to find a way to skip the first line, and then read in the matrix and be able to use it mathematically to add up each column.

A student record will consist of a name (first, middle, and last), an ID number (9 numeric digits, cannot be more or less), an address (street, city, state, and 5 digit Zip code), and a phone number (3 digit area code and 7 digit number). The application will support an array of students. The user will be allowed to enter records from the keyboard, sort records by either name (last, first, middle) or by ID, save the records to a disk file (name supplied by user), and read the records from a disk file (name again supplied by user).

Create a fixed length string that must check that the length of the string is the required length. The fixed length class should be done as a template with the number of characters as the template argument. From this fixed length string, derive a class to hold digits of a fixed length.

Create component classes as necessary to use together to implement the student record class.

Use either the array template created in an earlier lab to handle the array or you may use the vector class from the STL to handle the array of student record objects.

The maximum number of students will be 25 (it may be less).

Say in my main class, I have a function fight(Player p1, Player p2) and I would like to do something like this in the fight function, given that p1 is the human and p2 is the computer:

When I compile the program, I got this: error: ‘class Player’ has no member named 'func2()' What can I do to allow p1 to call func2 inside fight()? I'm not allowed to use pointers as the parameter for fight() and have to use the signature fight(Player p1, Player p2).

I have made a Student record system in c++ using the concept of linked list. The program will take the student id, name and marks for 3 different exams. Then it will calculate the aggregate percentage based on those exams marks and display the relevant message according to the aggregate percentage. All is going well. But there is only one problem. When I modify the student record especially the marks, it doesn't change the aggregate percentage of that specific record. It shows the old one. Similarly the relevant message doesn't change too.

The input is in the following format

The first number is the number of vertexes in the graph. Then next lines up to 0 are the edges of the graph. With the first and second numbers being the vertexes and the third being how far the edge is between them. Trying to read in the data and store the edges into there locations in the List adjacency for that vertex. This example would make a graph with five vertexes with edges from 1 to 2&3. 2 to 4&3&1 etc. It also stores in the opposites ex 2 1 9.0.

When reading it in and printing it back out it seems that it is only storing the last data entered for that vertex. EX. When trying to print out the data read in i only get 1 3 12.0, 2 5 20.0, 3 5 15.0, ( 4 2 18.0, 5 3 15.0 would show up if `if(i<n)` was removed it is there so it does not show duplicate edges). what I am doing incorrect?

I am trying to complete this program and as far as I am aware, the only thing not working correctly is populating the listview with my data. I've been stressing over this for a few days and achieving no success. I have to load data from two text files (incidents.txt and technicians.txt), then use a query to populate a listview with all incidents that have been closed. Also, I have to use LINQ for this assignment, so I cannot change anything that would alter my use of that. I'm thinking that perhaps the problem is with my code in form1.cs?Included are all my classes,txt files, etc.

C# :: How To Add Data Entry List In Array

I'm learning C# and having fun and I've been practicing by working on this little data entry console application. Basically the user inputs first name, last name, age, gender, employee id, then I ask the user if he/she wants to add another entry, if yes then loops back at the top, and if no, it prints out the amount of entries added. The issue I'm having is that the entry list is never kept or stored when adding another entry, it replaces what was entered before which is not what I'm looking for. I don't know how to stuff one entry list information seperately in an array so that I can print out which ever entry the user decides to choose once he/she is done adding entries. Is there a way to make this work?

So I have a base class, lets call it base. In base I have a virtual function called update(), update just couts "base" then I have a class derived from base called derived;

it has a function called update(), update just couts "derived" then I create a vector called Vec it's initialised like this:

std::vector<base> Vec;

then I add an element into it like this

Vec.push_back(DerElement);

then when I type:

I am writing a program which is using SDL library. I have two different classes which one of them is Timer Class and the other is EventHandling Class.

I need to use some member functions and variables of Timer in some Eventhandling Class member functions, Although I want to define an object of Timer in int main {} and relate it to its member function that has been used in Eventhandling member function in order that it becomes easier to handle it, I mean that I want to have for example two objects of timer and two objects of Eventhandling class for two different users.

I do not know how to relate an object of a class from int main{} to its member function which is being used in another class member function.

Lets have it as a sample code:
