C# :: Populating List View With Data

Mar 31, 2014

I am trying to complete this program and as far as I am aware, the only thing not working correctly is populating the listview with my data. I've been stressing over this for a few days and achieving no success. I have to load data from two text files (incidents.txt and technicians.txt), then use a query to populate a listview with all incidents that have been closed. Also, I have to use LINQ for this assignment, so I cannot change anything that would alter my use of that. I'm thinking that perhaps the problem is with my code in form1.cs?Included are all my classes,txt files, etc.

C# :: Populating Second View From Info In First View

Jul 22, 2014

I have a program I have been working on where the user selects a date and enters the number of days to be viewed in the Calendar.cshtml view. This input renders another view (Update.cshtml) that contains two date picker boxes, one that should contain the selected date and the second one that should contain the calculated date. I am having an issue getting the date selected in the first view to populate to the first date block on the second view as the default and getting the calculated date to populate the second date block in the Update.cshtml view. In addition given the two dates, I would like to generate a calendar, which is why I chose the date picker approach and setting static dates.

Here is my code:

**CalendarController:**

using System.Web.Mvc;
using VanickCalendarApp.Models;
using System;
namespace VanickCalendarApp.Controllers {
public class CalendarController : Controller {

C# :: Numbering Each Row In List View

Jul 10, 2014

I have a listview in my Windows Forms Application and I am having some trouble wrapping my mind around how I can get a number to increment in column 2 for each line item that is added. The reason that I want to do this is because this number will later be added to a set of soft fonts, which requires a unique Font ID.

Here is what I have and where I am stuck.

foreach (string fontFileName in ofd.SafeFileNames){
//Add a line in the list view for each selected file. Don't allow for the same file to appear twice.
if (listView1.FindItemWithText(fontFileName) == null){
listView1.Items.Add(fontFileName);

C Sharp :: Display SQL Database Record In List View Using C#

Oct 6, 2012

I want to display the content of my database in list view. The table has 5 columns however when I tried this code

string view = "Select * from cust_infor";
SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(view,FL.clsconnection.opencon());
            SqlDataReader dr = cmd.ExecuteReader();
            listView1.Items.Clear();
            while (dr.Read())  {
                listView1.Items.Add(dr[0].ToString()).SubItems.Add(dr[1].ToString());
           }

It limits the display to 2 columns. List view will only show the first 2 columns. The code above won't let me add more indexes or subitems. Only up to 2 columns.

How would I go about selecting a subitem in a listview control with just pure Win32 API? I know it's possible with MFC... but I can't use MFC for this project. Right now, when you click on a subitem , it selects only the first column of the row . I used the following by referring internet. But its not working.

HTML Code:
iSlected=SendMessage(hList,LVM_GETNEXTITEM,-1,LVNI_FOCUSED|LVNI_SELECTED);
ListView_SetItemState(hList,iSlected,LVIS_FOCUSED|LVIS_SELECTED,0x000F);

Visual C++ :: Use Of CListCtrl For Live Data View?

Jul 29, 2013

I'm working on an app which monitors user selected data sets from various devices, and I'd like to display the data in a CListCtrl. This would be very convenient, but I'm just a little concerned about (1) just how fast can a CListCtrl be populated, and (2) how can i reduce or eliminate screen flicker. To be specific...

1. There will likely be upwards of 100 rows of data, maybe more (probably 5 or 6 columns), and I'm going to have to refresh it all as quickly as possible, perhaps as fast as once per second. I can play games and only refresh a visible rectangle, but how responsive the control would be, having all that data deleted and refreshed continually?

2. You can see why I'd be worried about screen flicker, and I thought I'd likely have to make two identical overlapped controls so I could double buffer as I would with a graphic animation, switching the visibility of one or another control after its updated to give the appearance of sudden complete updates. BUT... I see there is an extended style you can set called "LVS_EX_DOUBLEBUFFER"

e.g
combobox shows 30 days in it and my class is Code: class account

C# :: StreamWriter / View Written Data Prior To Closing?

I've found that with streamwriter(sw) the data isn't displayed with the written to document until you either leave scope or use sw.close I'd prefer to keep sw open as I will be writing to the file in and out, sometimes very frequently, but would also prefer the data to be viewed in real time. Is there an efficient way of going about this?

C :: Populating An Array

Aug 31, 2013

My question:
-I have a file of fixed length chatracter records each 30 bytes long.
-I want to read them into an array which is 30 (or 31, say to account for the record terminator) characters by 50.
-Is there a simple (possibly elegant, even) way to do this. On my reading of the tutorials so far any method I can come up with seems a bit clunky - rather like the assembler language I used in the 1970s.

C++ :: Populating 2D Array Using Functions?

May 3, 2013

Your program will declare a 2-D array of dimensions 20 x 20. The array will be of type "character".

Functions: You will create several functions for this program.

1) One function will take the address of the array and initialize all cells to ' ' (a blank space).

If the 2-D array is odd, then you will create functions that make:

2) a triangle using '*', OR

3) a diamond using '*', OR

4) a bulls-eye using '*'. <=== this one is worth BONUS POINTS!! and is therefore optional.

If the 2-D array is even, then you will create functions that make:

5) checkerboard #1 using '*', OR

6) checkerboard #2 using '*', OR

7) a GIANT checkerboard using '*'. <=== this one is worth BONUS POINTS!! and therefore is optional.

These functions will be called from main, and return nothing. Your program will keep asking the user if they want a different kind of 2-D array and different shape. If not, then quit.

Here is what I have so far. I have only been able to get the triangle work. I have not attempted the bullseye or giant checkerboard as they are for extra credit and I can't get the main program to work.

#include <cstdlib>
#include <iostream>
void clear(char pattern[20][20]);
void triangle(char pattern[20][20], int size);
void diamond(char pattern[20][20], int size);
// void bullseye (char pattern[20][20], int size);

C :: Populating Array From Text File?

Feb 1, 2013

I have this program for class where we just need to show that we can read, write to a text and binary file. We also need to populate an array from both a text and binary file. When the user first runs the program, the user is told that text/binary file does not work for reading because they do not exist. The user is then asked to start inpuyting integers into the console and at the same time creating and appending to a text/binary file. These values are also stored into an array as they are being inputted. Later in the program the array is run through a for loop and displayed to the screen. Displaying the array to the screen works fine here.

My problem is when the user runs the program for a second time. The text file is opened and an fgets is run to populate an array based on the numbers in the text file. That array is then used again for the user input and file writing section of the program. When the array is displayed at the end of the program the numbers do not make sense. Some appear to be correct bu most do not. When I do the similar actions to the binary file there is no problems. The text file is amended properly everytime the user runs the program. userInputText[MAXSIZE]is a char array (MAXSIZE is defined at 100000) and both textCount and textCounter are initialized to zero when the program is at this point.

Here is what the code where I believe the program resides. I have also attached the source file.

Code:
textPointer = fopen("textFile.txt", "r");
if (textPointer) {
while(fgets(userInputText, sizeof(int), textPointer) != NULL){
sscanf(userInputText, "%d", &textCount);
userInputText[textCounter] = textCount;
textCounter += 1;
}

C# :: Generating And Populating XML File Based Off XSD Schema

Jan 14, 2014

The scenario is that I have an XSD schema; I have generated a C# class using the XSD tool in the Visual studio command line.

I have then created a basic console app, which will populate the first partial class in the generated C# class.

The program will then serialize this data and create an XML in a folder as a proof of concept.

The issue I'm having is working out the best way to populate and serialize all the data from the class, as the XSD it was generated from is quite large.

I would like to be able to randomise the data at a later stage once I have the basic populating and serializing working.

C++ :: Reading Data To A Linked List

Mar 20, 2014

The input is in the following format

5
1 2 9.0
1 3 12.0
2 4 18.0
2 3 6.0
2 5 20.0
3 5 15.0
0
1 5

The first number is the number of vertexes in the graph. Then next lines up to 0 are the edges of the graph. With the first and second numbers being the vertexes and the third being how far the edge is between them. Trying to read in the data and store the edges into there locations in the List adjacency for that vertex. This example would make a graph with five vertexes with edges from 1 to 2&3. 2 to 4&3&1 etc. It also stores in the opposites ex 2 1 9.0.

When reading it in and printing it back out it seems that it is only storing the last data entered for that vertex. EX. When trying to print out the data read in i only get 1 3 12.0, 2 5 20.0, 3 5 15.0, ( 4 2 18.0, 5 3 15.0 would show up if `if(i<n)` was removed it is there so it does not show duplicate edges). what I am doing incorrect?

C# :: How To Add Data Entry List In Array

Jan 29, 2014

I'm learning C# and having fun and I've been practicing by working on this little data entry console application. Basically the user inputs first name, last name, age, gender, employee id, then I ask the user if he/she wants to add another entry, if yes then loops back at the top, and if no, it prints out the amount of entries added. The issue I'm having is that the entry list is never kept or stored when adding another entry, it replaces what was entered before which is not what I'm looking for. I don't know how to stuff one entry list information seperately in an array so that I can print out which ever entry the user decides to choose once he/she is done adding entries. Is there a way to make this work?

Here is my program code:

using System;
namespace Ch02_Exercises_12

class Program {
static void Main() {
string firstName;
string lastName;
string input;
sbyte age;
char gender;

C :: Reading Data From A File And Adding Them To A List

I've been trying to write my homework assignment (a list of countries, their codes and their capitals) and I've done most of it but I'm stuck at this: I have to open a file, read it and if there are data, add them to the list. So far I've created an element of the structure, queue list, printed the list on the screen and freed the memory. I thought that for reading the file and adding the data I could first open the file (of course) with fopen and after that use a for loop (i=0;i=!EOF;i++) to scan the whole file and fscanf(fp,"%s",result->country),etc in the loop to add the data to the structure of the element and finally insert that element to the queue list. However, when I try to do these operations, I only get to writing the name of the file and the program crashes.

#include<stdlib.h>
#include<string.h>
