C++ :: Copy And Paste Function From Other Source Program Doesn't Wait For Input

I'm working on a project that requires to make modifications to certain functions. So, I'll copy and paste the function to a new source code so I'm just working on the function with the entire program running. When I run the function by itself, it works fine. But when I copy and paste the function back to it's spot, the program doesn't wait for input at the cin.getline & it did wait when I ran just the function by itself. I'm using Dev C++ if that makes a difference.
I have written a program that copies a file from the source and pastes it there (same location), but with a different name. The program works fine, except there is a small bug that i can't seem to fix. Here is the code:

When I run the prg again, and this time input a file name with no extension, like this:

I hit "?" and it takes me to
> 1. The file must be from the current directory) > 2. The location mustn't be empty
Then it asks me
> Try again? (Y/N)
If i give N, it exits. BUT if I give Y, it goes, like this:
> Enter the name of the file you'd like to copy (Must be from the current directory) > You did not enter a valid text. Press "?" to get help or "x" to exit.
You see, it doesn't give me the option to give it the file name..
I am trying to write a program that can communicate over a very latent internet connection involving a cellular modem. I have some software packages that handle all the telnet like business and will pipe stdout and stdin to a program I can have it execute.
The problem I am running into is that I have to send about 900 ASCII commands to an instrument to request data but it takes about a second between when a command goes out and when a reply comes back. This will wind up taking a very long time and I am looking to speed it up. All of the commands are independent of the reply so what I need to do is create a program that can send all 900 commands with maybe 10ms break between them and to not wait for a reply. It then needs to read the replies and write them straight to a file.
It seems like this should be achievable in C++ but I only have a very basic understanding of the language and thus am not sure where to start.
I am open to using other languages but thought C++ would be a reasonably good start so I can distribute the program to my coworkers. All of our work machines are Windows but if there is a simpler solution from Linux, I should be able to work something out. I'm just trying to avoid complication.
I have one tab seperated file and i whish to change values in one column and then copy the entire row (including the changed value) into anothe file.

the way i am doing it right now:

the problem is that the string in the file is of variable size and sometimes it is bigger then my char string[10001] array which then i need to resize and it gets messy. Is there a way to somehow , once identified first three numbers (and modified) just to read the rest on a character base and the print it character by character into a new file so that i can avoid string array completly.
Well if you don't know, there are multiple renderers in sdl, and on some don't work on certain computers, so people use a fallback ex: "accelerated renderer -> software renderer". Sadly, I haven't came across an example that I could copy and paste.
I have a WPF DataGrid with DataGridTemplateColumns, when I select rows and use Ctrl+C, and then in Excel or any document Ctrl+V, no data is pasted. If I change columns to DataGridTextColumn then copy and paste works fine. What can I do to make work copy & paste with DataGridTemplateColumn? Also when I set ClipboardContentBinding="{Binding FirstName}" for the template column, Null Refrence exception is thrown.
I am making a program which is going to print out a head image according to the input values entered by the user. Here is the code:

At first i tried to work program like:

But it also had given the same mistake. The program compiles BUT; even if I put in the values bald or parted hair the program prints out "wrong input" then exits.
i'm right now using C, IO is done via ncurses, but that won't affect the following problem, i think. The relevant code is:

surprisingly this works, now the new 3rd outputline is correct again. So it seems that the printcommand has some troubles with accessing the struct here. Not sure if that might be ncurses fault. Still feels odd.
I have a problem with creating a process and waiting until the main window of the new process was shown. I thought I can wait for it with
WaitForInputIdle(pi.hp,INFINITE);
But when the function returns, the handle of the main window of the new process is not available. If I include also a ::Sleep(), the new window is available. Sleep is a bad solution. How can I do it?
when i pass a string pointer to a function such as string *str = new string(""); and pass that string to a handleElement() function e.g. handleElement(str), and i change the value in the function it simply doesn't change when the function exits as though it's passing it by value or something, even though it gives the pointer address.. I've now changed the code to use double pointers and pass the reference of the str pointer and it works but it seems ugly to use double pointers for this.

The program will ask for the user to enter a value for x, then compute the following polynomial: 3x^5 + 2x^4 - 5x^3 - x^2 + 7x - 6.However, when I double check it with my calculator I get a wrong answer for random values of x. To simplify my problem I'm using only integers.

My program needs to compile various source files at runtime.What is the most elegant way to compile cross platform with g++ from within my program? Is there a gcc-library I can use? I know that I could use popen() to open a Unix pipe and call g++ as command line tool. But first it isn't really cross platform and second it doesn't seem elegant to me.

I have a VisualC++ program to display image data to the screen. The data is a 24-bit, RGB bitmap that is properly shown using BitBlt().
I have a CopyWindow() function that puts the BITMAPINFO structure and RGB image data on the clipboard as a DIB with the SetClipboardData(CF_DIB,...) call.
My problem happens when I try to paste the image into MS Powerpoint (Office 2010). I've tried Paste and all the options in Paste Special but the image will not appear.
If I open Paint and do a Paste, the image appears properly in that application. Then I can do a Copy from there and am able to Paste that into Powerpoint.
How is Paint able to accept the DIB? And what is different about how Paste puts that bitmap onto the Clipboard so that Powerpoint can see it?
