C++ :: Calculate Number Of Tickets And Apply Discount

Sep 8, 2013

I am trying to do a simple calculation. I just started C++ and learning about decisions. My program should calculate number of tickets and apply discount based on the number of tickets purchased. It will only execute one of the decisions.

#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main() {
double qty; // qty of tickets
double discount; // % of discount.

C++ :: How To Calculate And Apply All Char Combinations

Jan 12, 2015

how to write a password cracking program that will try all possible char combinations for just two chars (without duplicating any combination guesses). Obviously, there would only be 4 possible truth table combinations for two boolean values, but how would a person calculate the number of all possible combinations for two values with 70 different possible chars?

#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#include <cstdlib>
#include <ctime>
using namespace std;
static const char alphanum[] =
"0123456789"
"!@#$%^&*"
"ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ"
"abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz";
/*

Boolean Truth Table for two values:

p q
-----
T T
T F
F T
F F

Note that there are 70 chars in all specified above.

It will require much more than a simple truth table to try every possible char combination (especially if the password to be cracked is 2 or more chars). Using this guy's code: [URL] ..... as a starting point, I'm writing a program that will crack a password with a length of just 2 chars.

*/
int stringLength = 2;
char genRandom() {
return alphanum[rand() % stringLength];
}
int main() {
std::string password = "Sp";
srand(time(0));
std::string Str;

C :: Read Amount Of Order From Standard Input / Compute And Print Total Price After Discount

Apr 13, 2014

A Bookseller makes special discount for multiple orders of a book as follows:

AMOUNT and DISCOUNT as follows.

5-9 5% 10-14 10% 15-19 15% 20+ 20%

Write a C main function to read the amount of order from the standard input and compute and print the total price of the given order after the discount. Assume that unit price of a book is 10.00$

My problem is that.When i start with this

Code:
#include<stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
int main(void)
{
int number;
float TotalPrice;
printf("enter a number:");

[Code] ....

I get 0 if i enter a number between 0 and 4(0 and 4 included). I don't know where I am doing a mistake. I also want to know if i can handle this buy just if statements. or how can i do it by while and for loops ?

I was trying to put mutex lock on shared memory but my code is not working. What I want is that if some process is putting something on shared memory segment, other process should not be able to access that segment. For testing , I create a server program which put data in shared memory and client program which access the data.

To test it, I put break point after:

pthread_mutex_lock(&(init_lock));

But I see that client program was able to access shared memory.

Below is code:

I am able to execute this equation.But my problem is i am calculating the equation for 280x340 times and it is taking time(4 sec 2.93GHz 3GB ram).

how to reduce the executation time ?

What I know exp function is taking time. So is there any equivalent of exp which will take less time to execute ?

C :: Write A Code To Calculate Minimum Number

May 24, 2014

I'm trying to write a code to calculate the minimum number of coins needed to cover a change. It works fine but i want to display a message telling the user to try again if they type something that's not a number or a negative number. But it's not working. When i type a negative number, the program runs normally and displays a negative value of coins instead of showing the message. And when i type something that's not a number, the program just keeps showing a lot of zeros nonstop. And when i try to compile it with 'unsigned float' instead of just 'float' i get errors.

Code:

#include <stdio.h>
int main()
{
unsigned int coins;
float change;
unsigned int n25, n10, n5, n1;
unsigned int r25, r10, r5;

C++ :: Program To Calculate A Grade Letter Into Number?

Feb 7, 2013

So I have to write a program to calculate a grade letter into a number.

Letter grades are A, B, C, D, and F, possibly followed by + or –. Their numeric values are 4, 3, 2, 1, and 0. There is no F+ or F–. A + increases the numeric value by 0.3, a – decreases it by 0.3. If the letter grade is illegal (such as "Z"), then your output should be "INVALID LETTER GRADE"; If the combination is illegal (such as "A+" or "F-") then your output should be "INVALID GRADE COMBINATION"

Also the code should look like this
Enter your letter grade: C+
Grade value is [2.3]

// Input

C :: Calculate Number Of Bits In Type - Incorrect Result In Program

Feb 15, 2014

I have this simple program below:

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <limits.h>
unsigned int rightrot(unsigned int x, unsigned int n) {

/* calculate number of bits in type */

size_t s = sizeof(x) * CHAR_BIT;

[Code] ....

The result it prints is 2684356604 on my 32-bit computer. The result I expect is as follows:
0xFF94 is 0000000000000000 1111111110010100 in binary.

Shift it right by 5:
0000000000000000 0000011111111100

Then take that result in shift it right by 27 (s is 32 and p is 5, so the difference is 27):
1111111110000000 0000000000000000

Now we use bitwise or:
0000000000000000 0000011111111100 | 1111111110000000 0000000000000000 = 1111111110000000 0000011111111100

That in decimal is 4286580732. So how does it come up with 2684356604?
