Once it gets to string name = fileWrite.ReadString(); in write file it throws this exception about unable to read beyond the end of the stream.

I am trying to extract unsigned values from an input stream. I expect the extraction to fail when an invalid character is extracted. It fails correctly when I try to extract an unsigned int from "abc", but when I try to extract an unsigned in from "-1", the extraction succeeds, and the max unsigned int value is extracted (as if -1 were cast to unsigned int). I would expect the '-' to cause the extraction of an unsigned value to fail.

I am trying this in both Linux (gcc 4.4.3) and in windows with Code::Blocks (whaterver came with CB 13.12, apparently gcc 4.7.1)

I was going over this with a friend and it seems as though getline() is not reading anything in and thus throwing the abort error. I'm not sure why this is because I've included the textfile, with the correct name of course, in both the regular file location and the debug folder. I ask for user input and the user then inputs the name of the file they want, I do some required things behind the scenes and display the results for them in a cmd window. I've included pastebin files for both my header and cpp files because it is far to large for one post I shall, however, post the full code in the comments.

Reading a .dat file, i'm unable to open the file. This program is for a Air Quality index detector, the AQI machine records the particle concentration every minute and saves it into new data file for each day. So I need to make this program run every minute and convert the concentration in to the AQI readings.
The filename is of the format "ES642_2013-11-09.dat", where ES642 is the software name of the machine, and rest is the year, month and day. The code here is just for the file reading section:

I wrote a program to write text contents to file stream through fputs, the file stream address was changed in the middle of writing text content to the stream (11% text content have been put into the file stream), that cause the file stream pointer can be evaluated problem and raise exception on stream validation code in fputs library function, my question is what things could go wrong to make file stream pointer changed its address to something else or a NULL pointer if the file stream have not been flushed and closed.

I am having trouble in reading data from my text file and print it out exactly like how it looks like in the text file. The problem im having is it will not read the last y Coordinates of the point. it keep reading the second last point for y coordinates which is wrong.

I am new to C++ and I am having an issue reading in a 2 Dimensional array from a data file. I am very close to reading it in perfectly except for one issue, the loop is ignoring the first value from the data file.

When the Program shows my array it comes up as:

Every array location is moved up one, like the program just completely ignored the 300 at the beginning.
In a .h file there is a function that takes in this parameter:

as in a function definition:

What I am able to read is that it takes a function pointer and if not defined it overrides with NULL. The part I do not get is the ^ in (^callback). I only know ^ as a bitwise XOR operator. It also generates issues in my VS2012 compiler (something with CLR). So I would really like to rewrite this part to something else, without the bitwise operator...

I am receiving error: "unable to open database file" using sqlite3_open function. I am using sqlite3.c (included amalgamation files). It happens only during ARM compiling/run. If I do the same at x86 compile/run everything works fine...

I am trying to use struct to store variables from a text file and use them in the main program. I have first tried running the program without using struct and declaring the variables within the main program and it runs fine. But after using struct, it gives no compilation error and a segmentation fault as output. Also, if the size of file/variable size is unknown can I declare variables as char string[]??

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently writing a password generator in Microsoft Visual Studios 2010 Professional. The section I am having a problem with is the practical password. It is suppose to randomly read 3 words from a text file and then display it in the text box. The program will compile and run but when I hit generate I get "True True True" and not three random words. Then this warning shows up:
