I'm working on a project, and I'm trying to fill in various vectors from a given input file. The input file looks like:
<catalog>
<book id ="bk101">
<author>O'Brien, Tim</author> ....etc
My load vectors function looks like this: void load_vectors(vector<string>&id, vector<string>& author...etc)
I can't assume a limit on the number of books etc listed in this catalog, so I'm using the eof() function. However, I don't know how to write the loop to gather the correct strings and place them in the vectors.
Code: while(in.eof())
{ string text;
int index, index2;
getline(in, text);
int index = text.find("<author>");
int index2 = text.find("</author>");
a = index.lenght();
author.pushback[i] = text.substr(index + a, index2);
}
I have a vector I want to add book titles to, then i want to print my updated vector. This is best I have come up with but the program fails at the getline line. why?
string book; cout << "Enter book to add: "<< endl; getline(cin, book); books.push_back(book); for(int i = 0; i < books.size(); ++i) { cout << i+1 << ". " << books[i] << endl; }
I was given a project to program a library catalog. One of the aspects is that we have to allow an administrator to add, modify, and delete books from the catalog. It was recommended to me to use vectors. So I initialized by hand a default book list, and now I want to be able to have an adminisistrator add books and then print the modified book list. Here is what I have got:
main () { char yesorno; string bookname; vector<string> books;
I have to write a program in C++, without using a selection sort, that outputs the name you enter with the lowest age. You input 5 names with ages and at the end it outputs the youngest person. This is what I have so far:
#include <iostream> #include <vector> #include <string> using namespace std; int main()
[code]......
I Know for the second for loop there has to be if statements in it but I am so stuck on what to write next.
I tried this syntax in both VS 2010 & VS 2012 Express For Desktop, and I get the same error in both compilers:
compiler error: non-aggregates cannot be initialized with initializer list
To put the code above in context, I'm going to have a .txt file with hundreds of thousands of string arrays, in initializer list format, such as:
{"string","string","string","","",""},{"string","string","string","","",""},{"string","string","string","","",""}...and so on
The first 3 strings in each array will be non-zero in length, and the last 3 strings in each array will be empty, as shown above.
I want to be able to cut and paste the arrays right into the declaration, either with:
string arrayOfArrays[0][6] = {{"string","string","string","","",""},{"string","string","string","","",""},{"string","string","string","","",""}...and so on }; or vector<vector<string> > vecOfVectors = {{"string","string","string","","",""},{"string","string","string","","",""},{"string","string","string","","",""}...and so on };
I know I can do the first, but apparently the second declaration method with vectors won't work. I would like to work with vectors, but I'm not sure about the initialization. The .txt file will be what it is, so the initialization will have to be able to work with its 'array-like initializer' format.
Basically I need to make a program which asks for a business name and then keeps asking for more until user doesn't want to. Once more than 1 business is enter it should display the business and sort it alphabetically and keep displaying them each time another is added. I am lost on how to store the added business, sorting it and displaying the list.
Here is what I have so far.
#include <iostream> #include <string> #include <algorithm> #include <vector> using namespace std; int main () { string business_name; char selection;
Let's say I create a small program or just want to open any kind of file on my computer, but I want to run a program that forces the user to enter a password or something (I already know this part). How does one create the code that would open the file?
i have made this first level in this ascii game, and i realized that if i want to continue, i must rewrite the switch statement and write thousands of lines of code. how can i load a map from a txt file?
#include <iostream> #include <windows.h> using namespace std;
I have a group assignment were we need to load sokoban levels from text file. We have loaded the file in a vector but how we can parse the file for it to be used during the game.
We read about malloc and know how to access each character from the vector, but how can we select a particular level after the user inputs an the level integer number?
So I am working on a FUSE filesystem and I currently have the need to load the contents of a text file into an array.
My array initialization looks like: char array[max_entries][PATH_MAX] = {NULL}
The reason I want to pass it by reference is that I want my function to return two values essentially. One a specific char* and the other an array like I initialized. My function proto type looks like:
char* load_meta(char* list[max_entries][PATH_MAX], char* path, int mode);
How I'm trying to call the function:
someChar = load_meta(&array, path_name, 1);
Within the function I try to edit the array by deferenceing it once, like this:
This seems like a fairly straight forward assignment. Load up a file that contains a series of int values stored in ASCII and print out the ASCII characters to the console.
The problem I am having is that I am getting the numerical value of bytes ("40" for 10 numerical values, "200" for 50 values). The numbers are generated randomly by another file, but I can control how many numbers are generated. For example, if I type in:
I have done a test, I have edited with the WordPad in Windows on my Local Webserver a file banana.h which contains a list of float arrays in order to extract one array and create a text file named ObjVerts.txt I have done a lot of search in the Web in order to find a small piece of code that can read the text file and convert it to a float array GLfloat, but I did not find any. I have found a lot of piece of code that read the file and make a NSData but many of the code seem to not work. It seem that the last statement return nothing!
1. Load HTML File (or take stuff from string) 2. display window with content of that html
so yeah, basically something like a browser, is there some lib that will just load html and do it for me? I dont need whole browser, I just need to show really simple html pages in my app....
I am doing an exercise that reads in a text file and loads the data into a struct. My problem is it doesn't read anything from the text file. I think it's the way I'm loading the data. Oh, it does read in the first record that tells the program how many contributor records to create, but nothing after that. Here it is:
Code: // #include <iostream> #include <fstream> #include <cstdlib> const int strsize = 30; const int SIZE = 60;
void armazenaFA( std::vector <int> &vFA) // this function only knows about vFA { vsFA[n] [m]= simTime().dbl(); OR vsFA[n].push_back(simTime().dbl()); }
I have a CSV file that is formatted in the following way. The top row contains headers and the data is below. I have opened the file (sec2011) in Numbers on Mac and saved it as a csv. I would like to read each of the columns into a vector, but I can not get the code to even open the file.
secid,date,low,high,close,volume,return,cfadj,open,cfret,shrout 101310,03JAN2011,181.21,186,184.22,5331413,0.023444,12,181.37,12,448837 101310,04JAN2011,183.78,187.6995,185.01,5033144,0.004288,12,186.15,12,448837 ifstream infile("sec2011.csv"); if (!infile) { cerr << "Couldn't open file!"<<endl; return 1;
This code always returns the Couldn't open File text.
What am I doing wrong. I know the above code doesn't put the data into vectors, but I can't even get the file to read.
This is probably a very basic question, but I need to create two vectors and then loop through the vectors and output each pair that is found.
The user will input min1 and max1 with step1 for the first vector and min2 and max2 and step2 for the second vector. Then the loops will go through and return the combinations will return each pair of the two vectors.
So if I input min1=1 and max1=10 and step1=1 and same for vector two the return would be:
[1,1] [1,2] . . . [10,10]
This is for part of a homework assignment, but I can't continue on the assignment without first getting this simple part to work.
I need debugging the code provided below, which reads data from a file and puts it into several vectors.
Something very strange happens: if I try to read the file up to the last line, I get an runtime error, while if I try to read the file up to the second last line, I do not get the error.
However, if I try to read the file up to the last line, it READS IT CORRECTLY, as you can see that it prints out the right values.
Following there is the code and the file that I am trying to read.
I'm trying to read information from a file and put the data into vectors of its appropriate type. For example: the file will have an int ID, string firstname, string lastname, double salary, int hours_per_week, and string work_position. All this data is separated by ";". I don't know how to read this file into the appropriate vectors: vector<int> ID, vector<string> fname, vector<string> lname, vector<double> salary, vector<int> hpw, vector<string> work.
It appears that when you enter command line arguments or use fgets() to input a string you can assign that string to another string variable using the assignment operator. But when you read from a file, you can't do that, you get a segfault. It seems the only way to get around that is to malloc the string and use the strcpy function.
Code: #include <stdio.h> struct person { char *names[2]; }; void readFile(struct person p){ FILE *file = fopen("names", "r");
My objectives for this program is to open and read a file "dict.txt" which has the following data:
4 dog pepper marker teapot
It needs to rotate the inner letters one to the right so you'd end up with "mrkear" etc, and then write those words into a new file "scramble.txt" one per line.I'm having a lot of problems understanding the program. Compiling is giving me a lot of warnings/errors.
Code:
#include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #define MAXW 10 //max number of words in file #define MAXS 81 //max size of string }
While I execute the fileprint function i was able to retrieve the record from the txt file. but at the end of the console im getting randoms number i have tried to understand what causing the problem. I have attached a screenshot....
Code:
void fileprint(){ Code: int c; struct student{ long id; char name[20]; int mid1;
Write a program that reads several strings from a file. Display the number of words then display each word as shown in the sample below. Assume that the maximum number of string in the file is 100.
Sample Input (.in): Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen. He was number 1!
Sample Output:
Total Number of Words: 6
Word[0] = Smitty Word[1] = Werbenjagermanjensen. Word[2] = He Word[3] = was Word[4] = number Word[5] = 1!
I need making a function that is deciphering multiple strings from a .txt file. The function is supposed to remove all instances of the first three characters from the string.
An example would be from l.pjkjsdfl.p[)sdfslkl.p ------> jkjsdf[)sdfslk
Basically it removes "l.p" from wherever it is in the string.
I am new to C++ and I don't know where to start from.
