C :: History Of User Movement
Feb 27, 2013
I want to make history of user's movement. Whenever the user inputs something, and the input is valid, then the input information will be stored into something. And later on, the history shows up whenever I pick the choice.
I have the specific program to make history.

I am currently working on quite complex project. Anyway, im not gonna go into deeper details. What I am stuck with is following function.
What I've got so far is basically a picture, and what I am trying to do is to set continuous movement to it, allow the user to control the directions of its movement by pressing "Up" , "Down", "Left " and "Right" key. The best example I can base my idea on is "Snake" game.
I don't have much of a code, however I am willing to upload it upon request.

I am currently working on an arcade game for my final assignment this year. I am struggling to get a sine wave movement with the saucer. Here is the code for it:
void ArcadeGame::spawnSaucer() {
Texture* pTexture = getTexture("saucertexture");
m_pSaucer = new GameObject(pTexture, "saucer");
m_pSaucer -> setPosition(1000, 300);
m_pSaucer -> setVelocity(-1, 10 * sin(1 * 3 * PI / 180), sin(1) * OBJECT_DEFAULT_SPEED);
addGameObject(m_pSaucer);
m_pSaucer->setSolid(true);
}

I'm making a 2D rpg game, but I have some problem with the sprite movement. The sprite movement feels choppy. That's because I move the sprite 5 pixels per seconds. I now that I need somthing that have to do with SDL_getTicks and deltatime, but I dont know how to use/implement it.
Here is a little part of my code:
float spriteDstY;
float spriteDstX;
float speed = 5;
while(SDL_PollEvent(&event)!= 0) {
if (event.type == SDL_QUIT)
[Code] ....

I'm trying to get smooth sprite movement in SDL by using delta time. The way I'm calculating it is
long last = 0;
float deltaTime = 0.0;
...
long now = SDL_GetTicks();
//deltatime is in seconds
if (now > last) {
deltaTime = ((float)(now - last)) / 1000;
last = now;
}
And I'm updating the sprite like this:
virtual void update(float deltaTime) {
float dx = 100*deltaTime;
transform->position.x += dx;
}
But the movement is still noticeably jerky. Also, if I'm correct, my sprite should move 100 pixels to the right every second using this method, so it should take the sprite 8 seconds to reach the end of my window, since it's 800 pixels wide, but it takes it way longer than that. In other words the delta time I'm calculating can't be correct. Am I doing something horribly wrong? I'm guessing it has something to do with rounding, but I'm not sure.

I'm trying to implement keyboard controls to move a sphere(Player) with respond to keypress. Currently, when I press any key my character will move to the right by 0.1. How can I move my character with w(up),a(left),s(down),d(right) in their respective directions using respond to keypress?
Code:
class Player {
private:
double x, y;
public:
Player(double a, double b){x=a;y=b;}
void respondtokeypress(char a)

So I'm trying to learn how to use time for time based movement and what not. I did this only knowing the command time(&variable)
time_t timer;
int I, X;
void main() {
time(&timer);
X=timer;
while(I==5) {
[Code] ......
There's probably some other better way to do it... Obviously but for now I see it as putting current time in X.
start while
take in time constantly until I is 5
constantly asking is time>X(preset time 5 seconds ahead)
if it is
display message and add one to I
Why doesn't this display my message after 5 seconds?

I am working on a program where a user first enters a key of 26 characters, they then choose the number of lines they'd like to use with a max length of 40. Once they have entered the key and chosen the number of lines, they then enter text into the chosen number of lines, before that text is ultimately encrypted. I have it working as far as accepting the user's 26-character key, accepting their choice for number of lines, but when the user is typing in their lines of text, it only allows 6 lines before it moves to where the text would be encrypted.

I'm using a Global Hot Key. I have the code working for this but currently it is hard codedset to this:
RegisterHotKey(_hWnd, 1, (uint)fsModifiers.Control, (uint)Keys.Insert);
All of the examples and tutorials I have seen tell you how to code for a Global Hot Key but I have not seen eany examples of how to make it changeable.
I have 2 comboBoxes: one for Shift, Control and Alt or blank. The other is a list of keys such as F1..F12, etc.
I'm not sure how to set a new hotkey based on the comboBoxes selected.
Do I have to create a monster switch statement to catch every possible combination or is there some kind of short cut coding to still use the one RegisterHotKey statement?

In this simple end-of-chapter problem, the ages of two people are to be compared and determine who's older. The problem I'm experiencing is that the second user name input is being skipped and going straight to the second users age.
So while running the program it looks something like:
What is user ones name?
<input name>
How old are they?
<input age>
What is user twos name?
How old are they?
<input age>
<if statement result>
Here's my code:
Code: #include <iostream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
int user_one_age;
int user_two_age;
string user_one_name;
string user_two_name;
[code].....

So I've got this form that a user puts in a numeric value into a text box. This value then has to be placed into a byte string of data so that it can be transmitted over as a packet. Bellow is what I have so far:
Code:
Byte[] OUTBuffer = new byte[65];//Allocate output memory buffer
Byte[] INBuffer = new byte[65]; //Allocate input memory buffer
if (setmSpeed == true)
{
OUTBuffer[0] = 0; //Not used, must be set to 0
OUTBuffer[1] = 0x85; //Command mode
[Code] ....
I've put in red the area where I'm having issues. I've tried different methods and have not been able to get this working yet. It only works if I speciffy the value manually as with OUTBuffer[1] = 0x85;, but I want byte 2 of OUTBuffer[] to be set with what I put in the text box.

I want to obtain the user's home directory. I know it can be done with getenv("HOME"), but if I'll inspect the value of the enviroment variable HOME, it might work when I run it now, but it won't work on Windows, since windows uses HOMEPATH to save the user's home directory.
Is there a different, more cross-platform way to do it?

I want to have calculations take place inside a switch statement that calls the appropriate function. The menu portion of the program works well, but I can't figure out how to let the user actually input 2 different numbers to the functions. My questions are:
1. If I use scanf to assign values to the variables, what determines end of input to each variable? (ie.. scanf("%d%d", &a, &b) what is the end of a, what is the end of b?)
2. Should I assign the variables to user input inside the switch, or try to do it in the functions below?
3. Is there something I haven't thought to ask that will screw me over? I'm really new to this.
Code:
#include<stdio.h>
int add(int b, int a);
int mult(int b, int a);
main() {
[Code] ....
This really was a test of multilayer menu, but I want to add functionality if I can.
Changed a variable before posting and didn't change all the conditions testing it.

On my program I use a counter to count to 10, then i ask for a string, in this case "yes" or "no", during the count, i want to keep the user from putting inputs in, due to the fact that if they put both "yes" and "no" before the program reads the string.
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <time.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <stdbool.h>
#include <time.h>
#include <string.h>

I have a project that requires I take user input from menu options and put it into an array which I will average out. I can set the menu up I think, but I cannot understand how to put what the user inputs into an array. Granted I just took the lecture on arrays today. Also we can only use functions to do the work.

I am trying to make a program that will allow a user to enter their name, from this point, three options should be present for the user to choose, then from that point, two more options should be present. I have if else statements in a switch case and I get the "undeclared" error for the a in the first " if(specificage == a) ".
NOTE: I use Code::Blocks.
Here is the code:
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
int main(){
char name[50];
char ageclass[50];
char specificage[50];

So im working with forks and creating 2 fork processes. One child and parent. What im trying to get the child to ask me for a value. Then the parent would start to figure out the value and keep trying. Once it figures it out its tells them you got it and simply stops the program. I cant seem to get the program to keep guessing and stop when the number is found which sends a sigint. Here's what i have so far.
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <unistd.h>
#include <signal.h>
#include <stdbool.h>
int main() {
int j, i,pid;

I have this code here that counts the number of alphabetic letters the user's input,the number of characters total, the number of words and the number of "the" that was used. However now I need to alter the user's input to have two spaces after the end of each period, no spaces between a word or comma and each sentence has to have a capitalized letter and display them at the end. And I'm stuck on the altering part. I briefly started the 2 spaces after each period but it won't display anything.
#include <cstring>
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main ()
