Following is the program I wrote it basically takes 9 inputs and then save them into binary file. then print out the data stored in binary data and find inverse of it then print the inverse out. but its stuck in a loop somewhere.
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
int main() {
int a[3][3],i,j;
float determinant=0;
int x;
FILE *fp = fopen ("file.bin", "wb");
[Code] .....

I'm creating a program that should create a structure of a list of people entered by the user; the only problem I'm having is with the %c. When I have it, the loop only occurs once; if I put a %s, the loop occurs up to 25 times, but it doesn't write to the text file. Here is the code:
Code:
#include<stdio.h>
#include<stdlib.h>
#include<string.h>
[code]....

I want to create three files whose names are same but extensions are different. I have to take the name from user. I tried following code but it didn't worked ...
Code:
printf("Name of the file:"); scanf("%s",name);
printf("Format of Input file:");
scanf("%s",ext);
f1=fopen(name.ext,"r");
f2=fopen(name.dat,"w");
f3=fopen(name.src,"w");
f4=fopen(name.RMH,"w");

So, I am making a name-database-type-thing and I want the user to be able to enter there own file. Like, here:
string fileName;
string name;
cout<<"What is your file name?"<<endl;
getline(cin, fileName);
ifstream nameFile(fileName);
getline(cin, name);
nameFile<<"Name: "<<endl;
Well, that last part is in a loop, so you can enter an unlimited number of names to the .txt file.
So, it won't let me use the string in ifstream. How can I fix this? This maybe unclear, so if it is just say so and I will edit it.

why this is looping in an error message. I am inputting the entire file name when I run the program and it just keeps falling into my "if(!inputfile)" statement. Let me know if there is anything I'm just not seeing.
#include "File.h"
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>

Suppose there are two cpp programs and we want the user to put the complete path of the first cpp file into second cpp file while it(second file) is running and compile and show the output there, so how can this be done?

So I've been turning my programs into classes and I run into errors.
So this program is supposed to allow the user to open the file and either read or write to it.
I've omitted the read part from it as I want to attempt that on my own .
I get these compile errors:
fileclass.cpp:13: error: ISO C++ forbids declaration of ‘choice’ with no type
fileclass.cpp:21: error: ISO C++ forbids declaration of ‘choice’ with no type
fileclass.cpp: In member function ‘int file::choice()’:

So I'm trying to create a program that allows one to read/write on to output.txt. I though I had everything set up right, but its only writing one word to the text file. Heres the code.
#include "stdafx.h"
#include <iostream> //Needed for User Input
#include <fstream> //needed for ofstream
#include <string> // needed for strings
#include <windows.h> //needed for Sleep
#include <cstdlib> //Needed for return EXIT_SUCCESS;
using namespace std;
int main() {
ofstream outputfile; //allows to read and write to files
[Code] .....
If I type Puppies Are Cute and go to output.txt, the only thing written in the text file is Puppies.

I'm trying to develop a programme which, amongst other things, prompts the user to enter the filename which is to be opened. This is what my code looks like currently:
char filename[20];
FILE *myfile;
printf("Enter the full file name you would like to open:");
scanf("%s", filename);
[Code] .....
However, this only ever returns File Not Found - the file is stored in the same directory as the program, and I have tried looking up this issue online, to no avail ....

This is a WPF application

How can I take in a path name like "C:myfolderfile.txt" where the user enters exactly that? I've tried putting the arg into a string, then looping through the string to find the '\', but by that time it is too late as c++ considers the '' as a escape character.
Is this even possible? I've googled it and everyone just says to make the user input the path with double \ or with a /.

I'm trying to write a program where it asks the user for a file name.
If that file exists, the it will open the file and then read it and print the information in the file.
However, if the user enters a file name that does not exist, the user will have 2 more tries (for a total of 3 tries) to get the correct name of the file.
I am close to getting it. What I have now just won't go through the loop to validate if the input matches an existing file. It goes straight to the printing of what is in the file. If the file doesn't exist, it prints: "Found your file..Opening..processing...Total keys found = 0."
So, my question, what am I doing wrong that it won't go through the loop properly?
#include<iostream>
#include<iomanip>
#include<fstream>
#include<string>
using namespace std;
int main() {
bool fileFound = false;
[code]....

I was trying to make a program in C that could take Personality Information from the user and store it in a text file. Then, when asked, could compare the results to other entries in the so called "data-base" and tell which is the best match. I tried a whole lot but couldn't think of a proper way.
(Stings and File IO are not my strong points)
I am using Code Blocks 10.05 and the standard GCC compiler.

I have two questions about C programming here :
1. I want to make a file in the program directory that can't be deleted by user out of the program make that file.for example if I make a file named "123.xyz" by the program named "text.exe" and then exit test.exe ,if I tried to delete the file 123.xyz I faced the error and I could not do it but by the test.exe program that make that file.
2. I heard about a function called "Parbegin()".any way i want to know is there any possible way to run two or more functions of a file.c together,like the parbegin function did an do in OS?

int main (){
string filename;
cout << "Enter the file name: ";
cin >> filename;
ofstream myfile( filename.c_str(), ios::app);
}
Here is the code and my original question was how do I make it so that the user can read or write into a file that is not hard coded.
hard code example:
string filename;
cout << "Enter the file name: ";
cin >> filename;
ofstream myfile( "file.txt", ios::app);

So I'm writing a program that will read a text file and it will do certain "functions" the text file will be like a game, and the program will be able to run many different games. The problem i'm having is in one of the "functions" i believe it's the one meant to get a correct choice from a file and a user input and put them into strings, it gets the wrong input. I know this because i tested both strings the "function" writes too. it gets the correct file answer but the user input is always "c" for some reason.
#include "stdafx.h"
#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
#include <stdlib.h>
using namespace std;
int progfiles() {
[Code] ....
This is the code, most likely the section that is surrounded with "///" contains the problematic "functions." This is the command Line output...investigate why they're dieing or continue on your journey?(i-investigate/c-continue) got input and answer
i
c
i
Press any key to continue . . .
The got input and answer are tests to make sure it got both, the first 'i' is my input, the 'c' is what it says my input is, and the 'i' is the correct answer from the file. this is the part of the file that the program reads to get that output
"1 Do you want to go investigate why they're dieing or continue on your journey?(i-investigate/c-continue) 2 8 i 7 3 4 You continue on picking up speed to get to the egg first.. and.. Oh No, You accidentally bumped into the walls! 2 12 5 1 You go over, and as you realize the walls are acidic and that's why the other sperm are dieing.. 2 6"

What I want to do is create a file that will ask the user to enter his info,n then store it in a text file The screen will ask the user if he wants to update his info. if he says yes then the screen will be cleared and the old info will be printed on the screen. The user will enter his new info that will be stored in a new file. My problem is that once the user finishes entering his input the program just closes D: and the rest of the program won't run.
Code:
int main()
{
string ans;
ofstream Xfile("original.txt");
cout <<"Enter your name and address please"<<endl;
cout<<"Press Ctrl+Z+Enter when you are done"<<endl;
string name_and_street;
