C/C++ :: Create Welcome Text Header During Program Runs?
Apr 20, 2014
I want to create a welcome text header during the program runs. I wanna keep it at the top while the program is running (like asking for input@ showing output).
EG:
-----
WELCOME
----- //Stay until end of the program
// output/input. "WELCOME" stay at the top

The code is supposed to display the total and averages of the data as well, but cuts off due to an error in the code. The code should also:
1)Print checks for all employees, one per page, sorted by lastname. The first check number, 100, is to be read from a company data file (see requirement 4). The border of each check is important and should not be omitted.
2)Convert the net pay to a text string for each check printed.
3)Print a reference code on each check. The reference code is obtained by combining the first letter of the lastname with all the consonants remaining after removing all vowels (a,e,i,o,u).
4)Use the same employee data found in assignment 2. Use company data, obtained from a text file, for each check printed:

#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <ctype.h>
typedef short BOOLEAN;
typedef char STR15[15 + 1];
typedef char STR10[10 + 1];
typedef struct PayRecord

I have an interesting (and incredibly frustrating) problem where my application runs fine, but ONLY when a debugger is attached to it.
I can build in both Debug or Release and double clicking the execuable causes it to crash before the window is drawn. However if I launch from the IDE (VS2010), again in both Debug or Release mode, the application runs perfectly fine.
How to debug in this situation.
I am using VS2010 in Windows 7, C++ with MFC. This is an application which has been migrated from VC++ 6 to VS2010. Note, it works perfectly when built from VC++ 6.

I have an assignment to write a program that will calculate the number of days between two dates (including leap years). We have to read the data from a file and in my current input file I have:
1 1 2000 1 5 2004
5 2 2005 2 5 2009
1 15 1998 1 15 2001
for testing purposes. When I run the program the console runs continuously spouting out "The days between your two dates are 1097." Which would be the correct output for the last set of dates entered, but I need to find out where I've messed up in my main.
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
using namespace std;
bool isLeap(int x) {
if (x % 400 == 0) {

I'm working on a grocery store inventory project. One part is to have a shopping cart, where customers can put in up to 20 items. Because there can be up to 20 shopping carts at one time, I want to use a vector inside the cart object to represent all the individual food items.
Here's my code,
Header:
#ifndef CART_H
#define CART_H
#include <vector>
class Cart {
public:
Cart();
Cart(std::vector< int >, std::vector< int >)

I am a beginner with C++, taking a class right now. The lab this week is to create a user defined class and have it accesses in a separate .h header file from the main.
I think I'm finding my way through it, but I'm getting a complie error that makes no sense to me:
1> Resistor.cpp
1>c:users omdocumentsschoolcomp 220week 2lablab 2.2lab 2.2
esistor.h(11): error C2146: syntax error : missing ';' before identifier 'resistor'

Here is the first portion of the .h file:
#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>
#include <Windows.h>
#include <math.h>
#include <string>
class CResistor{

found out that I had to split my project in two programs (console projects).
I wanna make sure in the main program that the logger runs and if I can, have the main program do commands within the console.
Now how can I do this? is it a header that I have to include? is it a built in feature of c++?

I am trying to write a function to save the state of a tic tac toe game. It seems to be working well except the loop to read the chars in from a .txt file is running 18 times instead of 9 and thus overwriting the array with blank boxes. The code below is the part of the function I am having an issue with. Counter is being increased every time the second for loop runs which should be 9 times. However, it is apparently running 18 times with the first 9 runs filling newBoard correctly and the second 9 times overwriting it with boxes. how to fix it?
ifstream inputFile("file.txt");
char newBoard[3][3];
char a;
int counter = 0;
while(counter<=9) {
for(int r = 0; r<3; r++)
[code]...

I want to use two header files in my program. Here is exactly what I want to do.
-In the first header I have a binary tree and a structure.
-In the second file I have another functions that need to use the structure in the first header.
-I also want to use a function from the second header in the first.
-And finally I want to do actions with both headers in a "main.cpp" file that contains only int main() function.
How to include the headers in each other and in the main.cpp to be able to do the actions above?
I try to include the first header in the second one and the second one in the first header. Then I include both headers in the main.cpp file. But the compiler shows me many errors.

It's really simple to say to a pointer to point to a sigle character or a single number.
Code: int *ptr;
int a = 5;
cout << *ptr << endl;
But I want for example a pointer to change a whole text line. My idea is that the user enters which language he speaks.
Code: cout << "English" << endl;
cout << "Swedish" << endl;
But I don't know how to this. I could have done this without pointers with if statments but I want to do it with pointers because it were a exercise to do.

My objective is to create a file and save some text in it. But the twist is that file should be created in pdf format.
I have written following code:
Code:
#include<stdio.h>
Code:
int main() { FILE *fp;
char ch;
fp=fopen("file.pdf","w");
fprintf(fp, "%PDF-1.3"); //to initiate data storage in pdf file
printf(" Enter data to be stored in to the file:");
while((ch=getchar())!=EOF)
putc(ch,fp);
fclose(fp);
return 0;}
Now my file is created in pdf format, but when I open it by double click on it, it is not open and gives the message like: "Error in opening document. This file is damaged and could not be repaired."

I have looked through te tutorials here, and even google it, as well as tried to follow the power points from my class..but I still can't seem to figure out how to make this code work correctly.. Basically I have to create a file called grade and write to it a student name and their grade score, and then read from the file all students names and there grade and display this on the screen as well as calculate the grade average for all of the students and display it.
Well I am able to write to the text file, but I can't seem to get the rest to work. I can't figure out how to read from the text file..Here is my code below.
write a sample code that does something similar write to text file string and numbers and then reads from it.
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
using namespace std;

I am trying to do some exercises but am struggling at the moment. The first task was to create a class (Planet), then allow the user to edit their entry or view it.
The second one is to create class instances from a text file. The file contains a new planet on each line in the form: 'id x y z' where x/y/z are its coordinates. As the file can have more then one lines, it has to dynamically create an undefined amount of class instances.
To do this I used 'new' and it works ok - it prints each one out to the screen as you go so you can see it working. However... I'm trying to get into good habits here and am encapsulating the class which is where I am getting stuck. I can read from the class but cannot put the values from the file into the class.. ..using the member functions I have created anyway.
My code so far is:
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
class Planet {
private:
int id=0;
float x_coord=0.0, y_coord=0.0, z_coord=0.0;
public:
int GetID(){return id;}
[code]....
If I change the SetID etc to just p->id, p->x_coord etc it works fine. But I'd rather find a way to do it that keeps the encapsulation. Using p->z_coord etc requires that you change the class variables from private to public.
The question I have been given is this:
Define and implement a function, generate planet, that takes a stream argument that has already been connected to a file (i.e. the argument is istream& fin). The function must create a new instance of planet using new and read its details from the next line in the file.Each line of the file is in the format id x y z.The function must return the newly created planet.
Also, how would you go about 'viewing' one specific class instance once they've been created? So say the file had 5 lines, line three was '4 6 2 6'. How would I go about viewing that planet afterwards? I don't think thats required but... I'm just wondering Although I'm also wondering, are we actually creating a new class instance for each line here? Or just destroying the previous one?
