C/C++ :: Keeping List Of User Guesses And Output Message If Guess Is Duplicate

Apr 19, 2015

The label "You already picked that" doesn't always appear. Sometimes it does, but only if a duplicate has been entered at least 3 times. I haven't been able to correct this. I am new to programming and array-based lists.

//Objective: randomly generate an integer between 1 and 100, input user guess as to what number it is, and output "correct!" if user guess is the random number, or output "Too high" if the user guess is too high, or output "too low" if the user guess is too low, "you already entered __" if a duplicate is entered and allow the user to keep guessing until they guess the correct number

//libraries

C++ :: Guessing Game Program - Ask User To Guess Computer Generator Number

Feb 11, 2013

I'm currently creating a guessing game program where the user will be asked to guess the computer generated number. Once the program is finished, at the end the user will be asked if they want to play again. If the user types "Y or Y" the program will loop and when the user types "n or N" it will not loop. Check out my code below.

#include<iostream.h>
#include<stdio.h>
#include<dos.h>
#include<stdlib.h>
#include<conio.h>
#define g gotoxy
void main(){
int a,l,b,guess,row,col,answer,num,clue=5;

I can't loop this program.

C++ :: Hangman Definition Game - Extract Word Randomly Form File And User Guess The Word

Jun 25, 2014

Basically I have a text file called words. I'm supposed to extract a word randomly form the file and have the user guess the word. If they guess the word correctly in x number of tries they will receive the definition.

I'm having trouble receiving that random word and I'm getting the definitions from the file.

Here's my code:

#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <time.h>
using namespace std;

[Code] ....

This is what is in the words.txt file
apple#the usually round, red or yellow, edible fruit of a small tree
boat#a vessel for transport by water
horse#a solid-hoofed plant-eating domesticated mammal with a flowing mane and tail, used for riding
television#a system for transmitting visual images and sound that are reproduced on screens
soup#a liquid dish, typically made by boiling meat, fish, or vegetables, etc.
bottle#a container, typically made of glass or plastic and with a narrow neck
barber#a person who cuts hair
toast#sliced bread browned on both sides by exposure to radiant heat
radar#a system for detecting the presence, direction, distance, and speed of aircraft, ships, and other objects

C# :: How To Send Message To Multiple Sockets In List Object

Oct 7, 2012

Have tried to track down the delay? Which function takes that long? Have you printed some logs or measured the time of the functions? No I am not sure how to do that! I debugged it but i didn't see any difference! I definitely think its the logic in the receive code that's "inefficient" what do you think about that? Do you think there's a more efficient way of receiving messages and sending them? Because what I am doing is receiving one then calling send and sending that message out to all users then receiving another one then calling send and sending it out to all users and repeating that process till all the messages are sent, both methods are using a loop to send to all users. DO you think i should receive all messages then send them all out at once? or is that less efficient?

C++ :: Structures - Keeping High Scores Of Users

Write a program that allows a user to enter high scores of a game, keeping tracking of the name of the user and the score. Add the ability to show the highest score for each user, all scores for a particular user, all scores from all users, and the list of users.

This is the program I am trying to write, however I am having difficulty storing the users name and high score, I know I need to store an array for the score but getting confused because of the structure. C/C++ :: Dice Rolling - Keeping Track Of How Many Times A Number Appears?

Sep 27, 2014

I wrote a code that mimics a dice, my code so far will ask for the user to input a number at which they want to hold or no longer throw the dice, it will also ask the user how many roll simulations they would like to do.

If a 1 is rolled the turn is over and the score is 0

After this input is recieved the code goes into a loop until the values have been met.

I would to add probability to my code so I need to know how many times a certain number was rolled and this is where I am stuck.

An example of how I would like my code to work, let's suppose hold at number is 17

We role the dice until we roll a 17 or larger, but if we roll a 1, then our score is 0.

Let's suppose the number of simulations is 5 and for simulation 1 we roll

2 + 5 + 6 + 4 = 17

and for simulation 2 we roll

5 + 4 + 1, but since we rolled a 1, the score is 0,

for simulation 3 we roll

3 + 4 + 5 + 6 = 18

for simulation 4 we roll

4 + 4 + 6 + 6 = 20

for simulation 5 we roll

3 + 4 + 5 + 5 = 17 so that means we got

0: 1 time 1/5 = .20
17: 2 times 2/5 = .40
18: 1 time 1/5 = .20
19: 0 times 0/5 = .00
20: 1 time 1/5 = .20
21: 0 times 0/5 = .00
22: 0 times 0/5 = .00

In other words the idea is to roll a 17 or larger (or whatever the hold number happens to be), but if you roll a 1, then your score is a 0.

#include <iostream>
#include <cstdlib>
#include <ctime>
using std::cout;
using std::cin;
using std::endl;
int dieRoll();

C :: Guess 4 Int Array With How Many Are In Right And Wrong Positions

Feb 11, 2013

For an assignment I have to create a random array of four integers, and then I have to allow someone to input up to ten guesses to guess the array in the correct order. I also need to be able to display whatever was generated by inputting -1. Finally, after every guess I have to tell the inputter how many of the guessed integers are correct and in the correct position, as well as how many integers are correct but not in the correct position.

So far I've been able to get the random array to generate properly, but inputting negative one has no effect, although if I input it four times in a row I get to my 'lose' condition. Also, it only seems to allow the user to input 4 guesses and not 10 before going straight to the 'lose' condition. I need to get these issues sorted out before I can move on to showing how many guesses are right etc....

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <time.h>
int main()

C++ :: Linked List Output Incorrect?

Oct 30, 2013

Were are to implement a method countValue() that counts the number of times an item occurs in a linked list. Remember to use the STL <list>

int countValue(list<int> front ,const int item);

Generate 20 random numbers in the range of 0 to 4, and insert each number in the linked list. Output the list by using a method which you would call writeLinkedList which you would add to the ListP.cpp.

In a loop, call the method countValue() , and display the number of occurrences of each value from 0 to 4 in the list.

Remember that all the above is to be included in the file ListP.ccp

The output should be:
2 3 4 0 1 0 2 4 2 3 3 4 3 3 3 0 0 2 0 2

0 : 5, 1 : 1, 2 : 5, 3 : 6, 4 : 3

but I am getting:

1 2 4 0 4 4 3 3 2 4 0 0 1 2 1 1 0 2 2 1

C :: Input From User As Char And Output In Hex Form

Example: input from user: ABC output to monitor: 41 42 43 a

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
int main(void) {
char myChar;
while(EOF != (myChar = getchar())) {
printf("%x ",myChar);
