I am writing code for a program that will take user input selection of columns and determine an array based on that.The number of columns will be user selected.The number of rows equals 3^(columns) <--exponent not XOR
- This is because each column has the possibility of having the numbers 0,1,or 2
For example, if the user were to select "4" columns, then the array would have 4 columns and 3^4=81 rows. Then I would like to populate this with all of the possible combinations of 0,1,2
I'm trying to make a selection process using roulette wheel selection. To do this I created two matrix, one random probabilities and one increasing probabilities. The idea is to choose a number according to the random probabilities. Here is the code I've written.

The result I got is as follows:

The evaluation doesnt seem to start from c=0 again. The selected column should be 0, 5, 1, 8, 5.
The label "You already picked that" doesn't always appear. Sometimes it does, but only if a duplicate has been entered at least 3 times. I haven't been able to correct this. I am new to programming and array-based lists.

I've been trying to finish this airplane seating program I've been working on for a month or two. The problem I have right now is that if the user inputs a number when prompted to enter the column letter he wants, the program goes on to the next step as if the prompt had been answered correctly.
So I originally used string but I heard from Daleth that Char was better, but I don't know how to apply it. I figured out cin.fail, but I've yet to finish this part.
I'm trying to write a short program that takes the input from a user and trims any leading/trailing white space, and then checks how many words are in the string. Problem is, I'm only allowed to use stdio.h and stdlib.h. How can I accomplish this? Also, how would I check if any of the characters which were entered aren't either a number, letter, or '-'?
How do I error check if the user is inputting letters and not numbers? For example, if the user inputs "Lab.txt" I need to display an error message. If they input "Lab2part2.txt" then this is correct and what I want.
I've found a lot of information online on how to error check for numbers or a single letter (EX: 1,2,3, etc. or 'A' 'B' 'C') but nothing for actual WORDS or maybe I should refer to it as a string of characters?
Is there any way to do this? Because my program requires I ask the user to input the name of the file. But the way my code is currently set up is even when the user inputs the wrong file name it still opens the file. I want to prevent this from happening so my thought was to error check user input.

Write a program that will search soccer players data to check whether a name supplied by the user is on that list. For doing the search, the user may provide either the player’s full last name or one or more starting letters of the last name. If a matching last name is found, the program will display the player’s full name and date of birth. Otherwise, it will display “Not found”.
Requirements specification:At the start, the program will ask the user to enter information about 10 soccer players constituting soccer player data. Each soccer player data will consist of the following fields:
Last name First name Birth month Birth day Birth year
The user will be asked to enter each soccer player data on a separate line with the field values separated by a space.
Once the data is entered, the program will display a menu of choices as below:
Chose an option:
(1 – input data, 2 – display original data, 3 – sort data , 4 – display sorted data 5 – search by last name 6 – exit the program )

Selection sorting a 2D array . Let's say i have an array like
1 2 3 4 //4 elements 1 2 // 2 elements 1 2 3 4 5 //5 elements 1 2 3 //3 elements 1 //1 element
And I want to do a selection sort it in descending order which the row with 5 elements will come first then 4 then 3 and so on. So that it would look like this

I have my ListBox working and I'm able to select the items I want to keep. I'm trying to now get the Invert of the current selection for the items to delete.
I tried using:

I am working on a database project, which can store (initially) 10,000 marksheets with following capabilities
1) new entry 2) edit/modification of entry 3)delete entry 4) separate Departements ( BBA, BCS, M.Phil, Phd., etc.) 5) can store data on files ( initially, all data is stored in a single file)
Now, I want to create a menu, in which i can use arrow keys to navigate through the menu and use Enter key fo selection.
What should i use in it?? The project is only on C language.

I need to select a random item from an array but I am going to have more than 1 such array so I created the random value selector as different function. Right now I am getting a correct value for random function but when I try to access the array value associated with that index I get 2 digits which does not make any sense.

I have a ListCtrl on my dailog. It has a report view. In my case I have selected first row with left click of mouse and entire row is displayed in blue color as selection (as per expected) and when I right click the second row of the listctrl it displays the menu which I have added to it and the selection remains with the first row.(as expected). I have already overridden the ListCtrl class.
I want that on the right click of second row the selection should remain with the first row but this second row also should be displayed with dotted line border.
I'm trying to code a Singly-Linked List(Double Pointers) selection sort program and I can't tell what the problem is. My compiler says no errors but when I run the program, it crashes right after I enter the values.
I am trying to write a program to sort the characters in a word alphabetically. For example, if you input 'what', the computer will sort it into 'ahtw'. But, it fails to work. I didn't know why.
