C++ :: How To Store Objects To Program

Nov 14, 2013

I've started programming my little program called vLibrary (program I want to make for the library in my city) and after I m done with console application I will try to implement wxWidgets.My program will be able to add new users to the system, new books and new librarians.

Now, I m confused what data types to use and how to store objects (newly created users, books etc) to my program so later on they can log in the system etc. Logic of the program is completely clear to me but I m not sure how to make array of objects and store them in memory or in a certain file, how to store password and make some kind of encryption etc.which data structure from STL should I use and how.

C++ :: Store Address Of Objects

Oct 27, 2014

I'm using the SDL library and trying to match the C++11 standards... Anyway, I thought about a vector where I store all the addresses of game instances, so I can access them anytime... I tried with this function:

int instance_new(std::vector<uintptr_t> &instance_id, unsigned &instance_size, Instance *pointer) {
instance_id[instance_size] = reinterpret_cast<std::uintptr_t>(pointer);
instance_size++;
instance_id.resize(instance_size);
return 0;
}

Where "Instance" is the 'parent' class of various child classes like the player. So, if I have to search the existing of a thing in my game, I should check if the address references to an instance of class. How can I do this?

C++ :: Compare Data Members Of Objects Store In Vector

Mar 6, 2014

Overview of problem : I am using std::vector to hold objects of Subject. Now this vector contains lots of objects( with lots I mean 10-20 objects at max) . These objects have string member values like category and sub_category. Both category and sub_category can have string which can be same of other objects's sub_category & category.

Issue: Now I want my std::vector to have only those objects whose's sub_category are unique. If category is not unique that's not a problem .

Secondly if we found 2 objects having same sub_category then we have to delete one of them from the vector. we will delete it based on some rules example

Rules for deleting are if

i) instance of Subject ->category = " Land " OR if category = "Jungle" then delete other duplicate object ,
ii) if above condition doesn't match then delete either of them.

I am wondering , how would I compare the sub-items from the vector . For example. I have class say Subject

class Subject {
public :
// some constructors,
// functions to get ., set category and sub category
std::String get_sub_category()
std::string get_category();
private:
std::string category;
std::string sub_category;
}

I have vector which stores object of Subjects. Example : vector<Subject> copy_vector;

Now what I want is to delete the object from vector that has same sub_category I am not looking for source code buT i need a starting point,? Example:

copy_vector[0] = Animal object that has sub_category Tiger
copy_vector [1] = Animal object with Lion as sub category
copy_vector[2] = Forest object with sub_category Tiger

What I want is to based on some conditions(which I can do ) remove either Forest or Animal object containing Tiger. But for that how would I do comparison? I have written the function and have checked it.

std::vector< Subject >copy_vector;
// copy_vector contains all the objects of Subject with redundant sub_category
for( std::vector< Subject >::iterator ii = copy_vector.begin() ; ii != copy_vector.end() ; ++ii ) {
sub_category = ii->get_sub_category();

C :: 6 Structure Array For Employee Pay

Jul 23, 2013

Ok, so this assignment is to create a structure that allows input for up to 6 employees that then makes a 6 structure array showing Employee ID, Employee Last Name, Employee Pay Rate, Employee Hours Worked, Employee Pay, and Total Gross Pay for All Employees.

I don't have a printf yet for total gross, but right now I am just trying to tackle the input. Obviously I am not doing it right because although gcc complier is not giving errors the program is not ending when I type 'q' (sentinel issue) or when I reach 6 employees. It just continues input forever. Here is my code so far:

Code:
//Cameron Taylor
#include <stdio.h>
#define MAXARRAY 6
struct Record{
int idnum;
char lname[20];
double pay_rate;

C++ :: Employee Database - Bizarre Error With If Statement

Dec 21, 2014

I have written a program that stores employees in a database object. You can Add, hire, fire, promote, demote, and display employees. The program uses an interface, a database class, and an employee class with member functions.

The strange behavior is in my switch statement in interface.cpp. I have a '#' that represents a command line. Add and Display functions are ok, but if I hire, fire, promote or demote. It will display '##' for the next input. I ran the debugger and after hire/fire/promote/demote is called, the first if-statement goes to 'else' and I'm trying to figure out why.

Note: main() calls mainMenu() to run the program

// interface.cpp
#include <iostream>
#include "database.h"
#include "display.h"
void mainMenu() {
displayMenu();
Database* employeeDatabase = new Database();

[Code] .....

Here are the two classes...

// database.cpp
#include <iostream>
#include <vector>
#include <memory>
#include "employee.h"
#include "database.h"

Visual C++ :: Include Object From Another ATL COM DLL - Employee Classes?

Nov 7, 2014

This refers to an ATL COM DLL project. I can successfully create a class hierarchy of objects, ie. say, one class is the TEAM, which then holds other objects, say, a leader and a secretary, both of which are Employee Classes . Here goes my question:

a) In the Team.h header file I declare m_pLeader as a CComPtr<IEmployee>

Code:
classATL_NO_VTABLE CTeam :
public CComObjectRootEx<CComSingleThreadModel>,
public CComCoClass<CTeam, &CLSID_Team>,
public IDispatchImpl<ITeam, &IID_ITeam, &LIBID_BUOBJ05Lib, /*wMajor =*/ 1, /*wMinor =*/ 0>
{
private:
CComPtr<IEmployee> m_pLeader;
CComPtr<IEmployee> m_pSecretary;

b) The Employee Class is defined within this ATL COM project.
c) In the Team.cpp file, I create an instance in the FinalConstruct code, the focus is on the CEmployee

Code:
HRESULT CTeam::FinalConstruct(){
CComObject<CEmployee>* pLeader;
HRESULT hr=CComObject<CEmployee>::CreateInstance(&pLeader);
if (FAILED(hr))
return hr;
m_pLeader=pLeader;
// ..same for secretary...
return S_OK
}

d) Here comes my QUESTION: How must I proceed if the Employee object was part of another ATL COM DLL, that is it would be described in another DLL that I would now like to reuse? I guess I need to

1. Have the other DLL's idl-, tlb, and h file in my project folder. Let me name it "other.h, other.idl, other.tlb"

2. Both h- and cpp-file must have an #include "other.h" statement -- please correct if I am wrong..

3. ...but how must in the Team's h- and cpp-files the statements be (assuming the class in the "other" Dll is Member (instead of Employee? I know the following code will NOT work, so I am asking how it should be correctly?

Code:
private:
CComPtr<IMember> m_pLeader;

4. and in cpp file for:

Code:
CComObject<CMember>* pLeader;
HRESULT hr=CComObject<CMember>::CreateInstance(&pLeader);

C++ :: Adding Employee Names In Function Arranged Program

May 13, 2014

The program that I have written below is working. It calculates a number of payroll type variables and most recently the net pay average (All this is working 100%).

My problem is that I need to add first and last employee names to the program but every time I do this I end up ruining the working program. I've successfully added first and last names to similar programs in the past(ones that make use of an array and while loop) but never to a program that uses functions (I always have problems doing this).

My question is what codes do I use to add a first and last name variable and where do I put those codes within my program so it runs/displays correctly.

I think the coding must be similar to what I've used in the past charr and of course firstname[i] and lastname[i] lines.

Current Input File:
16454025.00
89324020.00
71044012.50
28164026.00
53874021.00
67804013.50
56414011.25

90006025.00
90015020.00
90025523.00

Ideal input file (would include names) Example.
1645 Bob Smith 40 25.00

Syntax:

#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>
#include<fstream>
using namespace std;
//function prototypes
int readalldata(long int[], int[], float[], const int);
void findovertimehours(int[], int[], int);

C++ :: Payroll Program - Number Of Hours An Employee Worked / Pay Rate

Oct 5, 2014

Write a payroll program that prompts for the number of hours an employee worked, as well as the employee’s pay rate. If the employee worked for 40 hours or less, the gross pay is calculated by multiplying the number of hours worked by the pay rate. If the number of hours worked by the employee exceeds 40 hours, the employee should receive regular pay for the first 40 hours, and receive time-and-a-half pay for the hours in excess of 40. Display the calculated gross pay on the screen.

Continue to prompt for similar data for more employees and have the gross pay of each employee displayed, until there is no more employee data to process. Then display “Good Bye”.

Your solution must be separated into three source files (Interface, Implementation, and Test)

C# :: Calculating Averages - Display Employee Number And Average Of Three Test Grades

May 3, 2015

I have a project that I am working on and I have gotten stuck. I am getting a couple errors and would like to see how I can complete the program. Not very long of a program at that. My instructions are:

Write a program to calculate averages. Create a method named ReadData that will load a two dimensional array, named scoresArray, with the following data from a file:

132475.889.392.3
435686.383.498.3
479090.177.376.9
839373.976.389.3
556397.378.478.9
832987.365.377.2
271767.989.379.3

ReadData will have one argument, the scoresArray.

Create a method named DisplayAverages that will display the emplyee number (number starting 1324, 4356 etc) and the average of the three test grades. DisplayAverages will have one argument, the scoresArray. Your output should closely resemble the following.

Student #Test1Test2Test3Average
132475.889.392.385.8
etc, etc

Round averages to one decimal place. Passing arguments is important for this program. No global variables are allowed, except for the streamReader and the streamWriter. The scoresArray must be declared in Main and passed as an argument to the methods ReadData and DisplayAverages.

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using System.Threading.Tasks;
using LibUtil;
using System.IO;
using System.Text.RegularExpressions;

[Code] ....

When I run the following just to see where I am getting I get the following error:

Visual C++ :: Calculate Amount Paid To Employee Based On Hours Worked And Rate Per Hour

Oct 8, 2013

Write a program in C++ that calculates the amount to be paid to an employee based on the hours worked and rate per hour. A user will enter hours worked and rate per hour for an employee. Your program should have a function payCheck that calculates and returns the amount to be paid. The formula for calculating the salary amount is as follows: for the first 40 hours, the rate is the given rate (the rate that a user has entered); for hours over 40, the rate is 1.5 times the given rate.

I had write my own coding, but it keeps error. it is okay. But i still don't think i could share here? Still running... I will update my coding for you alls to check for any syntax or logic error. The problem is i need to calculate if the employee work for more than 40 hours which 1.5 times.

C/C++ :: Objects Hold References To Other Objects?

Nov 12, 2014

This has been bothering me for a while now, and I finally put together an example:

#include <iostream>
#include <string>
using namespace::std;

[Code]....

In the code above, the two classes hold pointers to each other, and that's fine but it doesn't seem right since C++ prefers to pass by reference. Yes, it can still do that (see testbox and testball) but even that seems odd to me because still you need to use pointer notation for the enclosed object. Am I the only one who feels this way, and should I just get over it? Or am I missing something that would allow an object to hold a reference?
