Visual C++ :: Print Out Table Of Temperatures In Celsius With Equivalent Fahrenheit

Oct 28, 2013

This C++ question is related to Temperatures and Our task is to : Write a well-documented C program that prints out a table of temperatures in Celsius, from 0 to 100, in steps of 5 degrees, with the equivalent Fahrenheit.

To convert temperatures from Celsius to Fahrenheit use the equation : Temp(F) = Temp(C)*9/5 + 32

Include headings on the columns of figures.

Use the following formatting in your printf to produce a tabulated output:

Printf(“%4.1f %4.1f
”, Cent, Fahr);

This format will print each variable in a fieldwidth of 4 digits, with one place of decimal. The ‘ ’ inserts a tab to space the columns. This is our code, but for some reason its not working.

#include<stdio.h>
void main() {
int Cent=1, Fahr=1;
int Temp;
int F;
int C;

C++ :: Write Unit Convertor For Converting Temperatures Celsius / Kelvin And Fahrenheit

Feb 8, 2014

I am trying to write a unit convertor for converting temperatures Celsius, Kelvin and Fahrenheit.

Code:
if (select_one == 't' || select_one == 'T'){// this one works perfectly...
//This section does not tell you the use of variables.
//The use of variables can be seen as comments in the main program

[Code].....

This part of code will be part of a larger Unit Converter program. Do you think this method of conversion is wise? The error codes are for debugging use only.

I convert all temperatures of all units, whether Celsius, Kelvin or Farhenheit into Celsius and then convert it into the units the user wants.

For example:

Kelvin -----> Celsius ------------------> Farhenheit
(Input) (base of conversion) (desired output unit)

Do you think this type of conversion is okay?

Code:

#include <stdio.h>
#include <math.h>
int main() {
double farenheit,celsius;
for(int i=0; i<6; i++) {
printf("Enter temperature in degrees farenheit: ");
scanf("%lf",&farenheit);
celsius = (5/9)*(farenheit-32);
printf("Temperature in degrees celsius: %lf ",celsius);

C :: Fahrenheit To Celsius Scale Converter

May 28, 2014

One of the questions requires writing up a code, that converts Fahrenheit scale to Celsius scale.

The relation between temperature in ◦ C and ◦F is given by the formula:

◦C = 5/9 . ( ◦F - 32 )

Write a program that prints a table (just two columns without any borders) with temperature in ◦F and ◦C for temperatures between 0 and 300 ◦F in steps of 20◦. Compile and run your program. I wanted to approach this problem via arrays and for loops, and I wrote up this

Code:
#include<stdlib.h>
#include<stdio.h>
int main() {
// begin main()
// units
double[] celsius = new double[ 16 ];
double[] fahrenheit = new double[ 16 ];

[Code] ....

Now when I'm trying to compile that, the compailer throws an error which makes absolutely no sense to me.

Code:
fahrenheitCelsius.c: In function ‘main’:
fahrenheitCelsius.c:18:9: error: expected identifier or ‘(’ before ‘[’ token
double[] celsius = new double[ 16 ];

[Code] ....

//precondition:
//t is a valid tempreture in Fahrenheit
//postcondition:

And here is the problem:
[Linker error] C:UsersOwnerAppDataLocalTempcckex8SZ.o:fahrenToCelsius.cpp: (.text+0x3d): undefined reference to `fahrenToCelsius(double)'

I'm suspecting the program maybe that I saved it wrong? I saved it as fahrentoCelsius.cpp inside the folder "Work" ( I created this folder) which is inside the folder "Dev-cpp".

C :: Print Two Arrays On Same Table After Sorting

Jul 11, 2013

Having trouble with homework involving (title). Here is the assignment:Write a program that allows the user to enter 10 numbers from the keyboard. Sort the numbers using any sort routine you wish. The output from your program should be 2 columns of numbers. The left column should be the numbers in the order they were originally entered and the right column should be the sorted list. The columns should be labeled. You will need 2 arrays to accomplish this.

Use separate functions for input, sorting, and printing.So, I have to use separate functions for each of these. I would think it would be easiest to do the input in Main() and then the sorting and printing in another function, but of course since you can't return arrays I am kind of stuck on how I return the new array after sorting. I thought about doing the sorting in Main(), but then I would need to still do the original arrays input in a function and would still run into the same problem.

Here is what I have so far:

Code:

//Cameron Taylor
#include <stdio.h>
#define MAXARRAY 10
int highLow(int[], int);
int print(int[], int[], int);
int main (){
int unsorted[MAXARRAY], i, j, temp;

[Code]...

I know it seems simplistic right now, but I am just trying to get it to work first and then go back and beautify it up a bit.

C :: Calculate Black Body Spectra Over User-entered Range Of Wavelength And Temperatures

Jul 29, 2013

I tried to write a code to calculate black body spectra over an user-entered range of wavelength and temperatures. The equation I'm trying to code is the second one this image (stolen from Wikipedia)The syntax to run it is bbgrid lambda_inic lambda_final temp_inic temp_final inc_T inc_lambda

where bbgrid is the name of the program, lambda_inic and lambda_final are the limits of the wavelenght range (in units of angstroms, 1A=10⁻⁰m), temp_inic and temp_final are the limits of the temperature range (in Kelvins) and inc_T and inc_lambda are the increments. What I want to do is, given the ranges of temperatures and wavelengths, to run the code over the lambdas and the temperatures.

The problem is that the behaviour of the intensities (what I'm calculating) is erratic. Sometimes it is highly positive, sometimes immensely negative and turning between those two. As an example of an output file, I'm getting things like this:

3100 1915076038
3110 -1233496775
3120 1741010116
3130 1229780625
3140 421722788
3150 -1874760945
3160 1654746252
3170 1062468321
3180 -795217626
3190 -1141129750
3200 -1570716956
3210 539385985

While I was trying to debug the code, I found the problem may reside in the exponential factor in the denominator. I wrote some lines to calculate and print on the screen only the exponential, and it was oscillating like crazy. The output file should produce curves like this:

Code:

#include<stdlib.h>
#include<stdio.h>
#include<math.h>
#include<string.h>

Jul 13, 2014

convert a positive integer code into its english name equivalent for digit. A valid code is of size between four (4) to six (6) digits inclusive. A zero is not allowed in the code.

example : if the input is 234056 the output is : INVALID CODE (PRESENCE OF ZERO)
if the input is 23456 the output is : TWO THREE FOUR FIVE SIX
if the input is 9349 the output is : NINE THREE FOUR NINE
if the input is 245 the output is : INVALID CODE (3 DIGITS)
if the input is 2344567 the output is : INVALID CODE (7 DIGITS)

step 1 : input code
step 2 : count the number of digits in the code
step 3 : if there is a zero in the code, "INVALID CODE (PRESENCE OF ZERO)" go to step 4
step 4 : if number of digits is mode or equal than 4 and less or equal than 6, go to step 5 else display the following message "INVALID CODE (<number of digits> DIGITS)
step 5 : call a function called digit_name to convert each digit into its
equivalent english name. display the result
step 6 : print the digits in reverse order
eg; if input is 13453, reverse order is 35431

Visual C++ :: Hash Table - How To Setup Static Variable

Apr 22, 2014

I am having trouble getting the cout statements that I commented out to work properly. And I can't figure out why the first movie in the movies.txt file displays at the end of the list in my output screen when it should only display once as the first item. I am also having trouble figuring out where and how to set up the static variable.

Purpose : This assignment requires that you to develop a program using the classes listed above. Specifically you will build a hash table containing movie data. The collision strategy will be to build linked lists as the array elements.

Program Specifications : Your program will read the data from the file named Movies.txt located in the StudentFiles1.zip file on the Connections Portal. Each record contains 2 fields separated by a space. They are:

FieldsData Type
Motion Picture Association Code (MPAC)Integer
Movie NameString

Your application program will read each record, create a Movie structure instance and place that structure instance into the hash table.

You will need to modify the appropriate code to provide for an audit trail of the hash table construction. To accomplish this, you will use cout statements in the above class member functions. You will need to modify them to include couts, but the modifications will be relatively small. If not, you are doing it wrong. The hashing algorithm to use is:

Index = int ( 0.618033 * MPAC) % size

Make the array size a constant and set it to 10.

Include a counter for the number of collisions that occurred in building the hash table. Including a static variable in the LinkedList or List class is the best method for doing that.

See the sample audit trail below for the first 5 records on Movies.txt and the size of the hash table set to 3. This is shown for illustration only. The full file will have different locations calculated.

1101-Casablanca is being added
The hashed location is 2
There was no collision loading 1101-Casablanca
------------------------------------------------
1200-Duck Soup is being added
The hashed location is 0
There was no collision loading 1200-Duck Soup
------------------------------------------------

[Code] ....

After the above is displayed, prompt the user to enter the MPAC of a movie to locate. Produce an audit trail when locating the requested movie as shown below: Make sure you list all movies that have collided at the hashed location. That may also cause you to modify one of the existing ADTs a little.

Will search for 6601
at the hashed location is 2
There was a collision here with 6601-Wizard of Oz
There was a collision here with 1101-Casablanca
retrieved from hash table: 6601-Wizard of Oz
