Visual C++ :: Statusbar-update While Mouse In CDialogbar?

I have the following problem:

My mainframe-window in a MDI-app has a CDialogbar.

Every time the mouse moves over a control in this dialogbar the status bar is updated by a text.

The app craps the text from the resource strings that has the same ID than the dialogbar-control, randomly.

I do not want this. How can I avoid this?

Visual C++ :: Dynamic Icons On CMFC Ribbon StatusBar Pane

The goal is to change the status bar (CMFCRibbonStatusBar) icons based on some events. (The old CMFCStatusBar class had the SetPaneIcon() member that easily solves the problem.)

The "improved" CMFCRibbonStatusBarPane has no members to set the icon, other then the constructor. Being a subclass of CMFCRibbonButton, it has SetImageIndex() that sets the icon index in the image list. The MS online support does not mention how and where to set that "list of images". My understanding is that the list belongs to the Button's parent; in this case it is the CMFCRibbonStatusBar, which has no methods to set any image list. How and where am I supposed to set that list of images for the status bar?

Second related question: I have tried to set the pane icon with the CMFCRibbonStatusBarPane() constructor by loading it from an icon resource. The icon appears shortly and then it is replaced by a gray patch. (for tests I also used one of the icons given by the MFC wizard, with the same result)

This code was placed within a program created by the MFC wizard that does nothing else. I absolutely do not "touch" the status bar after it is created here in CMainFrame::OnCreate().

Apparently the icon is "erased" after OnCreate() exits. Where, how? I have made HICON icon; a member of my CMainFrame class, with the same result.

Special behaviour of a CEdit-control in a CDialogBar:

My CDialogBar is a member of my MDI-mainframe-class. The menu of the mainframe have an item with an accelerator "r".

Now, if I want to type the letter "r" in my CEdit-control, the menu-item (with the accelerator "r") will be called.

How can I type "r" into the CEdit-control? How can I handle it?

My program (Test) is a basic MFC AppWizard (exe) created project. I have followed the steps in the link below to create a docked dialog box (myDialog) using VC++. [URL]...

The dialog box works, however, I have 2 issues that I am trying to resolve.

1) I have added a button to the Dialog box, however, when I run the application they start as disabled (note: the Disabled option on the Button Properties is unchecked). If I add function myDialog::OnButton to the myDialog class, the button remains disabled, however, if I add the function CTestView::OnButton to the View class, the button becomes active and works. How can I make the button work from the myDialog class?

2) I would like to be able to change an Edit box in the same dialog box when I click the button. How can I access the pointer to the myDialog from the View class?

I have an problem with a CDialogbar if my app runs on a system with two screens (side by side). I can not resize it while the CDialogbar is in floating state on the second screen.

I figured out that the problem is the mfc-function CDockContext::Stretch().

It limits the CDialogbar to the primary screen (using ::GetDesktopWindow() to verify the position).

What can I do?

I have a question concerning the CDialogBar (:CControlBar).

I have a MDI application with a dockable toolbox (CDialogBar).

The user is able/allowed to move the DialogBar and to dock it at the right or left side When I dock at the left side, the content of my mdi-application (so all other open windows) are moved right (so the dockable bar moves the windows).

If i dock at the right side, nothing changes.

How can I change the behaviour of the bar, that the windows inside the application keep the same position when I dock left ?

(Problem is, that my windows are aligned on the right side of the application). When I dock the bar on the left, the windows are getting moved in the not visible area.)

When I click the mouse, the program doesn't seem to record the coordinates. So the if statements are never executed. One thing I noticed was that when the do while loop is running and the left mouse button is not pressed then X and Y of dwMousePosition are both 0. But then if I press the left mouse button then the coordinates become x = 1 and y = 0.

For a ribbon bar with edit controls (CMFCRibbonEdit) I want to handle the mouse scroll events for the edit controls. That is, when the user clicks and then scrolls on the edit it will navigate a predefined list of strings. I want to capture the scroll event in order to update the edit text step by step.

This kind of behavior is implemented by the Spin Edit; I don't want to use the spin edit control since it only uses a list of integers and the spin buttons are too small.

Is there a way to catch the mouse scroll event for the CMFCRibbonEdit control? How to approach message handling for the ribbon (other messages than the COMMAND allowed by the ribbon designer). I'm using VS2010 on Windows 7 and the ribbon was designed with the ribbon designer?

In the main window I draw lots of background stuff using a memoryDC and BitBlt(). In the child window, I actually am not drawing anything, I just created it to have events like mouse over, etc. In the child window when the mouse is over the window I bring up a pop-up window. This works unless my mouse is over any parts where something is drawn in the main window, then the popup just flickers constantly. Why is the main window affecting my mouse over events if I am not handling any such events for it?

is there a way to tell WPF that I'm going to do a lengthy update on a control (TextBlock), and that it shouldn't redraw it until I tell it I'm done? I'm adding a large number of items to the Inlines property, and it has to redraw the entire control every time I add an item, which takes a very long time - about 1 second for every 100 items. I know some other frameworks allow freezing of certain controls, but I haven't been able to find anything in the documentation or on google. I've tried collapsing the TextBlock, and then making it visible again after the update, but it did not improve the performance at all.

I have a label on my main form. When I menu select my settings form, I make a change to the label text on the main form but the label text does not update with the new text.

So here is my code in my settings form:

MainForm frm = new MainForm();
frm.paintMainFormThemeTitle(logoText); // updates the main form label

I may not fully understand the new instantiate key word, but doesn't this create another, new copy of my main form to operate on? And isn't that why I can't see my label text change on my main form that is previously in view?

All of the examples that I have been able to find show using this new key word to be able to access a component on another form. But to my understanding, I'm creating another, new form.
