Visual C++ :: Send Message - Receive / Respond

Jan 2, 2014

I have a problem in a c++ project. I have created a .dll file and hooked to an .exe

I want this .dll to make a ping or to send a message like hello somewhere, and IF ping or message doesn't receive an answer that's means the user has suspended-terminated this dll from the exe then the exe will close. How can i do that?

C# :: Socket TCP Send / Receive

Jun 28, 2014

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using System.Net;
using System.Net.Sockets;
using System.Threading;
namespace test {

[Code] ....

I don't know if this is a bug in Winsock or the .NET Framework but i need to fix this or workaround. Recently I was working on a networking class and this error is breaking everything.

If you add Thread.Sleep(1) after Send() call then "TCP Bug detected" doesnt get executed but its not a reliable fix.

C++ :: Winsock - Receive / Send Sequences

Oct 25, 2013

I'm trying to understand winsock with c++. Let's assume I have a 2 working applications, one is the client and one the server:

Client: I can enter a command, for example chat or filetransfer, it will then switch into this specific mode where I can enter commands like uploading a file, send a message etc.

Client
Code: ....
while (rc != SOCKET_ERROR) {
printf("
#");
gets(buf);
if (strcmp(buf, "CHAT") == 0){
// start chat mode

[Code] .....

I'm in a recv/send loop and I'm using streams...so basically all the data is being sent/received there. Now, if I want to upload a file, I send a FILETRANSFER String to the server. Then I will probably need another loop that receives file requests from the client. The server will need more details about the file, like the path, name, size...

Now, my question is, what's the best practise for something like that? I'm having problems understand how I can send 3 different values from the server to the client and how he will receive them in the right order store them in variables. And also, after sending something to the server, in some cases, the client will have to wait for the server to answer.

Is there a good example of a similar application?

C++ :: Using Same Socket For Second Send / Receive Giving No Result?

Jul 28, 2013

when I want to use the same socket connected to the host to send() and recv() for the second time, recv() will return 0 without anything in buffer. Basically I am doing:

1. connect to the website
2. send packets
3. receive packets
4. send packets again (I think this one is working since it's not giving me SOCKET_ERROR)
5. receive packets again (this one is returning 0 so as "connection closed")

source code: [URL] ....

as you can see, I have sock2, which when I use for second send/recv it's working fine, however I will do more communication, and having sockets for all of that and connecting them.

C# :: How To Send Message To Multiple Sockets In List Object

Oct 7, 2012

Have tried to track down the delay? Which function takes that long? Have you printed some logs or measured the time of the functions? No I am not sure how to do that! I debugged it but i didn't see any difference! I definitely think its the logic in the receive code that's "inefficient" what do you think about that? Do you think there's a more efficient way of receiving messages and sending them? Because what I am doing is receiving one then calling send and sending that message out to all users then receiving another one then calling send and sending it out to all users and repeating that process till all the messages are sent, both methods are using a loop to send to all users. DO you think i should receive all messages then send them all out at once? or is that less efficient?

Visual C++ :: Creating Containers That Respond To User Actions?

Oct 16, 2013

I am looking for direction on what topic I should be reading up on. I am new to C++ and Windows MFC.

This is my real world problem, in the context of the application user. (these term do not refer to OPP concepts)

I want to create shapes (containers) in an application that will respond and collect other objects;

Imagine a Windows frame, containing several 2 dimensional squares. I want to be able to drag and drop marbles into the squares,and have the square retain and display the marbles in the square, in the order that they were dropped in.

How do I create the shapes, and how will the square sense when a marble is over it?

How would I create irregular shapes (a combination of lines and curves) that would be responsive to the marbles?

Visual C++ :: Can Overlapped Buttons Both Receive Notification

Oct 17, 2013

I have multiple bitmap buttons of non-square shape. Because of their odd shape I can overlap them and they will still look good on screen, which is what I want - that certain layout.

The problem is that because underlying button in reality is square (which I am subclassing), the bitmap of one button may overlay with the non-bitmap area of the other button (in the underlying square). This means that 2nd bitmap button will not receive notification because the press is registered with top level window only.

Is there a way that both windows can receive the notification and check if they are in the hot spot, they will respond? I know this is against windows design.

Visual C++ :: How To Get Rid Of Not Responding Message

Jul 30, 2014

I have a simple dialog based app that performs some time consuming file manipulations. The activating method contains the customary

Code:
CWaitCursor wait;

The hour glass initially appears, than after a few seconds, the dialog title bar indicates 'not responding'.

This is misleading to users as it suggests the application has ceased to function when, in fact, it's working just fine. I would like very much to eliminate this 'not responding' message but havn't a clue how to do it. Have any of you dealt with this problem, if so, how?

Visual C++ :: Put A Message String Through Algorithm / Cryptography?

May 31, 2013

I'm looking for a resource (possibly CPP) for which I could do the following on a windows and linux machine:

1) type a string message into a GUI control (or some other input that can be accessed by the resource).

2) run a resource script that puts the message through a hash function (or a custom hash function) and outputs the hash string.

3) have a reverse function available in order to decrypt the message in an input fashion just like step #1.

what open-source resource might be the best for this? Right now I am imagining typing a message into a text file, saving the file to a hard drive location, running a script on it replacing the old file with a new file that just has a hash string in it, then using that hash string for the encoded message.
