Visual C++ :: How To Call Dialog Window (formed As Resource) From DLL

Jan 19, 2013

Is there some document, that describe the sequence of actions, that result in displaying of a Dialog Window from a .DLL.

One important detail - the Dialog Window is created via resource/toolbox inteface.

Below is code from some example (which works), that displays simple window (with client area inside it).

In this code the window class is ctreated inside of application class.

Here is extract from application class:

Code:
class CMyWindow : public CFrameWnd {
CStatic* cs;
public:
CMyWindow();
};
CMyWindow::CMyWindow() {
Create(NULL, L"MyWindow", WS_VISIBLE, CRect(0,0,200,200));

[code].....

Where is my mistake ?

Visual C++ :: SDI CView Covered With Bitmap Resource?

Feb 10, 2013

I have an SDI / CView app (VS 2010). All works well until I minimize the app using the minimize button or drag it partially off of the screen. In the former instance, any attempt to restore the app results in an appcrash with a tight freeze up of the machine. In the later instance the same happens immediately.

In building the app, I scoured the web for code to accomplish the loading and display of the bitmap. After some experimentation I settled on overriding the OnPaint. Below is the code. Note that m_Map is a CBitmap member and IDB_BITMAP1 is a loaded bitmap resource.

Code:

void CMyDragViewView::OnPaint()
{
// CPaintDC dc(this); // device context for painting
// TODO: Add your message handler code here
// Do not call CView::OnPaint() for painting messages
// http://msgroups.net/microsoft.public.vc.mfc/loading-bitmaps-into-main-window/563285
int x = m_Map.LoadBitmap(IDB_BITMAP1);
TRACE1(" x = %d
", x);
CPaintDC* dc = new CPaintDC(this);

[code]....

I suspect that the problem is OnPaint trying to repaint the bitmap which requires reloading it, but I don't know how to work around this.

Visual C++ :: Generating Dynamic Resource File?

Jan 3, 2014

We want to generate dynamic resource file for VC++ where the data will come from database (Oracle).

For an example, When a user log in the system, at that time if User is an English User, then some data in english language needs to be loaded in vc++ resource file. If the user is French then French data will be loaded into the resource file.

Right now all the data are hard-coded in the resource file but we want to load it dynamically from database, based on the login-user language.

How to do this dynamic implementation as I am not able to find any such concept in google.

Visual C++ :: Resource Editor Failed To Initialize ActiveX

Feb 27, 2014

I'm working on a project which consists of several ocx loaded by one exe. The platform is WinCE. Now I'm on a process to create a new ocx. I do have a copy of those ocx projects in Win32 platform. These Win32 versions were only used to register ocx in local system and then put those on to application dialog by 'Insert ActiveX'.

Now the problem is those Win32 projects are so outdated, and unable to build. Getting too many linking errors to be solved.

I have build the new ocx and link that with exe manually by editing .rc file and all. But still no luck. New ocx is getting registered in WinCE device but failing to start application.

Visual C++ :: Replacing GUI In Win32 Application?

May 15, 2014

I have a Win32 C++ application which works pretty well, but I don't like the GUI and I want to replace it with one designed graphically, a la Windows Forms. What is the best strategy to port my code? I tried creating a new Windows Forms C++ application and got pretty far with it, but was stymied when trying to call my unmanaged functions on a button press. If I can't use Forms to add a GUI without completely rewriting the program, what's my best bet?

I don't know how to setup a conditional breakpoint.

Visual C++ :: How To Get Same Info As Win32 PortConnector From DeviceIoControl

Mar 21, 2013

I can tons of information by calling DeviceIoControl (such as device ID, device description, whether it's connected or not) since I couldn't do it all with WMI. But I haven't figured out how to get from DeviceIoControl the info that a call to WMI's Win32_PortConnector gets. Are there any calls, directly to DeviceIoControl or something else that for a given device ID or device description would get the PortConnector information?

I would have used a combination of Win32_PortConnector and DeviceIoControl calls but the trouble with PortConnector is that it doesn't provide any information that would allow one to figure out which device ID it belongs to. Why do I need to do this? Because I'd like to get a combination of all the information the two methods provide for a given device such as a USB port, and all I'm getting from Win32_PortConnector is these scant few fields with no other clue:

string Caption;
string ConnectorPinout;
uint16 ConnectorType[];
string CreationClassName;
string Description;
string ExternalReferenceDesignator;
datetime InstallDate;

[Code] ....

Visual C++ :: Create Window Form Function Using MFC Or Win32 API?

Jan 7, 2013

My setup is as follows:

There is function written C++, that must be compiled to DLL. This DLL is linked to some CAD (computer aded design) tool, that has special interface for it.

I want to add to this function some GUI (graphical user interface). So the creation of a window is necessary.

I've tried already with Win32, but without success.

The problem is that CreateWindow function requires application instance handle, that is provided by Windows itself when window is created in "normal conditions".

Visual C++ :: How To Set The Parent Dialog

Apr 17, 2013

I've created a modeless dialog from my main dialog as follows:

Code:
m_pContainerDlg = new CDlgContainer(NULL, this);
m_pContainerDlg->Create(CDlgContainer::IDD, GetDesktopWindow());
m_pContainerDlg ->ShowWindow(SW_SHOW);

This container dialog creates a child dialog which I show inside the container

Code:
BOOL CDlgContainer::OnInitDialog(){
// Create the child dialog and show it
m_pChildDlg = new CChildDlg(this);
m_pChildDlg->Create(IDD_DIRECTORY_DIALOG, this);
return FALSE;
}

From my child dialog I then create a modal dialog when a user clicks on a button

Code:
CChildDlg:: CChildDlg (CWnd* pParent /*=NULL*/) :
m_pParent((CDlgContainer*)pParent), {
} void CChildDlg::OnBnClickedBtn() {
CMyDlg MyDlg;
INT_PTR iResult = MyDlg.DoModal(pParent);
}

My problem is that the CMyDlg is modal but to the main dialog and not to the container or the child dialog.

Visual C++ :: Catching A Dialog Box?

Dec 9, 2013

What I want is simple: I want to catch a dialog box!

The dialog box pops very frequently in a website. We have to put a username and password and press OK. I checked with spy++. It doesn't have any child windows. So catching the dialog box with windows API is ruled out. It must be a HTML dialog. I have to get DOM COM interfaces of the dialog.

Another option may be to make an add-on to get the interface to IWebBrowser2 and get the events fired. The title of the dialog box is "Authentication Required". If the events will be fired for that dialog box, I can check the title using IHTMLDocument2::get_Title.But will the events be fired for HTML dialog box? How to catch that desturbing dialog box.

Visual C++ :: FTP With Progress Dialog

Nov 13, 2012

For a project I'm working on, I need to be able to download a file from an FTP server and store it to a predetermined location with a predetermined name. No user interaction should be needed. Because the file is rather large, and I need the main program to remain responsive, this is going to need a progress dialog.

I could write all this myself and use the MFC wininet wrappers (CInternetSession et al) to do the downloading, but... Explorer already has this, and IE has such a dialog also. It doesn't seem unreasonable to assume those dialogs are available via some API.

Is a "FTP download with dialog" available as a windows API, or do I really need to write all this myself ?
