C :: Read Data File And Emit Various Bits Of Information

For my intro to c programming class, our homework requires us to read a data file and emit various bits of information. the data file looks like this

I've started and am able to get the correct number of lines, and the alexa number, but I keep getting some errors and am just unsure where to correct my code. This is what it looks like;

So I have to read from a file, and store the information in separate variables. My problem is that for some of the information I need multiple words, and for others I don't, so I cant simply store 1 word into a variable and store the next in another in so on. To demonstrate what I mean let me give an example.
Dog Cat Blue Bird Snake White Horse
I am able to store "Dog","Cat","Blue","Bird"...etc in variables but I don't know how to make it so I can store "Dog" in one variable, "Cat" in a second variable. and "Blue Bird" in a third variable. "Snake" would be the 4th and "White Horse" would be the fifth. How can I read a file and manipulate the pointer to grab what I need?
Im trying to read and store several students information so that i can have an options menu where i can enter a student number and the program prints all the information stored about that student. The way i have it set up now, doesn't work for this because all info is reinitialized to stud1. Is there another way to store this info other than defining stud1, stud2,.....,stud200?
how I can read information from a text file into an array so afterwards I can display the array and it will show the contents of the text file?
the information inside my text files consist of names and numbers like so: "Collins,Bills 80" should I separate the numbers and names into two separate text files one for names and one for numbers?
Create a simple data file like the example shown below containing the 4 dates below plus 10 or more additional dates. The file should include 1 date per line and each date should have the form MonthNumber-DayOfTheMonth-Last2DigitsOfTheYear with no extra spaces. All dates should be in this century. No error checking for invalid dates is necessary.

I'm a C beginner. I have questions, let say if I have a structure of message containing of Id, Length, and 3 bytes of data, and I want to manually saved in individual bits of data, how can I do that? I confused on how to use typedef struct and union. Below is the sample code:
By the way, the DataField is declared as above. It's not necessary for a data to be 24 bits. It can be bit 0 - bit 8, it can be bit 10 - bit 15 and so on. So, for each case, I want to ignore the other bits.
I have a problem I am working on where I need to sort some data based on the values of a string of bits. The strings look like this,
010000001110000000
there are 18 bits, 1 means a feature is present, 0 means the feature is absent.
Each of these string has 4 on bits. I need to sort them such that I have the longest possible runs with 3 of the same on bits. It doesn't matter which 3 bits are on, I am just looking to order them in blocks with the longest possible runs. As a second step, the ordered blocks will be sorted by size large>small.
The following data is ordered like I need it to be.

This is the sort order that I am looking for. I need to be able to take a list of the bit strings in any particular order and sort them into the order above. The algorithm would need to recognize that there are 4 on keys and then look for groupings of three common on keys.
This is more of an algorithm question than one about specific implementation in code. I generally assume that most programming problems have been solved one way or another, so I don't know much about analyzing and manipulating strings of bits.
Is there a standard method for this kind of pattern recognition?
I want to design a class and corresponding code so that every time when it reads "line:" for the file.dat , it will push_back a new line into the line_t vector, and each time when it encounter physics it will put the values to physics, How can I implement this?

I am a member of a group still developing the Microprose European Air War game. We have the source code and permission to do this. As the code dates back to 1998 I use Visual Studio 2006.
I have written many programs in Visual basic, and have the following one to read the airbase value in the "targets.dat" file. The file has a four byte header containing the number of tatgets, and a 32 byte data block containing the data for each target.

Despite many attempts I cannot write the C equivalent of this code into the eaw.exe source. All I really need to know is how to open the 'targets.dat' file and how to get the value of a byte (or integer, or long) at a given position as in the "Get #1, k, a4(n)" line.

I am currently working on a problem where I read a file into a 2D array, and display data. If you saw my code earlier, this is the same problem, but I am now further along.
The file (90 characters) looks like this: S R R S R R R R S S ....
The "R" resembles rainy days, the "S" resembles sunny days, and the "C" resembles cloudy days. There are 90 characters in the file. The first 30 are for the month of June, the next 30 are for the month of July, and the last 30 are for the month of August. The 31st day of the months are NOT included.
I read the data into a 3 x 30 array, where the row indicates the month (0 = June, 1 = July, 2 = August) and the column indicates the number of days in each month.
Now I need to create a function that creates a report and displays, for each month AND for the whole 3 month period: 1) The number of rainy days 2) The number of cloudy days 3) The number of sunny days 4) Which of the 3 months had the largest number of rainy days

There are no compiling errors, but I am not getting the data I want. My rCount and cCount variables end up being 0, and my sCount variable is 90.
My program reads data from a txt file and it displays the test scores and the sum of the scores, and it also shows the max and min from the scores , so far only one number shows up from the scores instead 10 and i think my sum is wrong too, but i cant get the max and min to work ...
Assume you want to read from a file and place the data from the file into an array. The array can hold 10 integers. The file may contain any number of integers with 1 integer per line. Fill in the missing loop test condition so that we will read from the file until either end of file occurs or the array is full. I am having trouble in reading data from my text file and print it out exactly like how it looks like in the text file. The problem im having is it will not read the last y Coordinates of the point. it keep reading the second last point for y coordinates which is wrong.

This is the second function my polygon new code. This ADT function basically creates a new Polygon with malloc(), initialize all ADT data members with its parameter values and returns the Polygon.

I am suppose to make a program that reads in data from a text file (integers only) and sorts them as it inserts them into an array of size 10. I did this using an insertion sort, which worked great. But now I am being told that I need the function has to read ALL of the numbers in the text file, not just the first 10, and I am not allowed to store them THEN sort, it has to be sorted as being stored.
