C++ :: Remove Comments From Input File And Then Put It Into Output File
Mar 11, 2013I have written this code to remove the comments from an input file and then put it into an output file. The program compiles and runs but it removes the whole line of code when it encounters a /* */ type comment. I believe the problem is in the while loop but I just don't know where.

Feb 9, 2014I need to store the last 3 deposit that I have in my deposit. I have few option but i dont which would be easy
1.Store all deposit to the text file (store always in a new line), and display the last three deposit from the text file.
dep 1 - 60
dep 2 - 40
dep 3 - 100 print 100
dep 4 - 50 print 50
dep 5 - 50 print 50
2. I think this option is more difficult, when it reach deposit 4, to get rid deposit 1
So when i make a deposit 4, the deposit 1 get's ride
dep 2 - 50
dep 3 - 100
dep 4 - 70
Right now i can only display one deposit (last one), then i close the program and run again and i make another deposit it overwrites a new deposit.

Where is says "save deposit" in comment that where it saves to the deposit text file, that going to be output to the depSave function.

May 21, 2014I need to extract comments from a C file, which are usually marked with " /* This is a comment */ ". It seems to me that I need to calculate first at what position is the / and then ask it if on the very next position to the / operand is the *, if it is then I need check where is the next * and if / operand is immediately next to it. At last I need to take everything between values that the first and second * have. But I don't know how to write that in code.
This was supposed to be done in c++.

Mar 12, 2015I am working on a program where I am reading in a text file to be parsed to load data objects into their appropriate classes. I have a class to load in this file and to parse its contents. I am at the point where I would like to include the ability to have both C and C++ style comments in this text file. My current class has a constructor that takes in const std::string for its file name. Upon construction I have a while loop that calls a member function getNextLine() as long as this is true this loader class object then calls parseGui(). All of this works correctly so far. Within the function getNextLine() looks like this:

As you can see this getNextLine() method reads in a single line of text and saves it into its member variable which is a std::string. It increments the line number, then a utility function trims out leading and ending white spaces. The next part is where this class calls a member function to remove comments. It is in here where I need to parse the string to look for comments either "//" C++ style line comments or "/* ... */" C style block comments that can span multiple lines. I have tried many different ways to go about doing this, and I am stuck on the C style comments. A note to consider is this: the way this code is designed is reading in a line of text from the file into a string variable and in doing so it is not logical for me to read in the complete file and do a pre-parse scan or analyzer.
This is what I have so far, however there are still cases that this code will fail on

An example of where this code will fail is when it encounters a single '/' any where on a line of text as it goes into an infinite loop. I am not sure on how to go about skipping this lonely '/' and advanced the index to look for a possible next '/' that belongs to a '//' or a '/*'. I know that this is sort of trivial, but for some reason or another I am having writers block.

How writeFile() function Works? when writeFile() function Execute It Takes Characters User Type And When Hit Enter(ASC|| 10) It Ask "More?(Y/N)" That Means What User Want? Want To Go Next Line Or End Input?
If "Y" Than Inputs Are Taken From Next Line Else Input Ends.
But The Problem Is When Program Encounters ch==10 It Shows "More?(Y/N)" And Takes Input In cmd variable.If cmd=='Y' I Mean More From Next Line Than It Should Execute Scanf Again To Take ch I Mean User Input.But Its Not!!! Its Always Showing "More?(Y/N)" Again And Again Like A Loop.

I seem to have it working, but it doesn't print the full names in the email prefix. The output I'm looking for is Doe_John@livebrandm, but I'm only getting D_J@livebrandm. C :: Writing A Simple File / Text Parser To Read A Config File
Feb 6, 2014I am writing a simple file/text parser to read a config file for some code I am working on. It's dead simple and not particularly smart but it should get the job done. The code reads a config file:

Here is where it gets wierd. You'll notice that there is an unused variable (filepath) in the config struct. This variable is not referenced or used anywhere in the code, ever. Yet if I comment out the declaration of char filepath[1024], the code segfaults partway through the read_config() function.
My best guess is that there is a buffer overflow elsewhere and it just so happens that the memory allocated for filepath happened to be there to catch it up until now, but I can't work out where it might be happening. With the declaration commented out, the read_config() function gets as far as reading the "padding" variable before it crashes. Yet when the declaration is there, then all the variabled are read correctly and everything seems to work.

I want to sort the lines based on the FIRST value.

C++ :: How To Save File Directory To Text File Using Ofstream
Jul 22, 2013I'm having a little problem with std:fstream - in my program, the user selects the location of a file which I want to remember. So, I have something like this:

This works fine if the file chosen is in the same directory as the program, however, if they try to choose a directory outside of where the program is kept, it saves the text file into that directory instead of the same one as the program. So, it looks like outputting a directory into an ofstream actually changes the location to which the file is saved.
Is there a way to save the file directory to a text file using ofstream and still have the text file save in the same directory as the program?

It works fine if the file name and path is input correctly.
But, if the file name or path is entered incorrectly, the recursive call to inputFile is executed, and the user is given another opportunity to enter the file. Then, if the file name is entered correctly an error is thrown in Visual Studio 2013:
"Unhandled exception at 0x77F7A9E8 (msvcr120d.dll) in Assignment4.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xCCCCCCC0."
How could this be done better?
